Eli looked at Evangelina with surprise. A demigod? Really? He knew they existed and had read plently about them, but he never thought he'd actually meet one. She had mentioned Thantos. That meant her father or mother was related to the underworld. Perhaps she was even related to Hades. He had a reputation after all.

When she asked his and the other girl their names he waited while the girl replied. Andromeda. A child of the forest. Eli suddenly felt intrigued by her as well. He had never seen a forest, not a real one anyway.

Again manners indicated that he should give his name too, especially as everyone else was introuducing themselves.

"Eli" he ventured.

Before anything else could be said or done the door on the wall opposite him clicked open. A tall and heavily built man entered the room. He was dressed in black and had a terrible burn on the right side of his face. The door swung shut behind him and locked again.

"Good morning" the man said to the room in general. "My name is August. Now that you are all awake. We can get started."

The man's entrance did little to cause Luc to react. He had simply not heard it, the music emanating from his headphones effectively blocking out any other sound in the room.

He continued to lay there on his chest, his head turned towards the wall with his eyes still closed. The sound of his music could faintly be heard in the rest of the room, indicating that whatever song that was being played was being played at a rather high volume.

Alia did not wake to the sight of her bedroom's ceiling.

Instead, she found herself draped across a cushioned chair, head on one armrest and legs dangling over the other. Immediately recalling the events of the night before, she bit down on her scream. She was in a room, and some people were speaking. Oh god. She'd been kidnapped. Did they want to ransom her? People knew her parents were rich. Gingerly sliding her legs off the armrest, she straightened her dress. It was all dirty and torn. Hrmph. And some ugly, mean looking man was speaking. It seemed the others had been kidnapped too, then? Suddenly, she noticed her hearing was... Dull. She was so used to her passive power, it was almost like being deaf. Plus, her joints were all stiff. There was an ugly bracelet on her wrist too. Green eyes wide, she glanced about the room. They all had the bracelets. Were they part of some sick experiment? Feeling nausea bubbling up in her stomach, her dark green gaze returned to the man. She decided to stay silent for then.

"Er, thanks I guess-" Holly was interrupted by the man entering the room. This August dude looked seriously tough and didn't look like someone to be messing with. Was this guy responsible for why they were all here? And what were they starting? This didn't make any sense at all. Maybe if she was in a pinch she could become transparent or even self-destruct and bust herself out of this room. There was a problem though. She wasn't sure if exploding would bring the entire ceiling down on these other people. Transparency it was then if things went bad. She'd be feeling weird as heck, but it was a sight ton better than awaiting whatever August was planning for her and these strangers.

Apparently the girl that had talked to her was a demigod. That was pretty cool. Demigods often inherited powers from their godly parent right? If her Metahuman Studies textbook was correct and that girl was half-god, than said girl had powers. Never thought I'd meet a real demigod. Wonder what it's like? The Summanus person was snapping his fingers as if he expected something to happen. Eli was sitting there in his corner, and there was...Andromeda was her name? Forest dweller? Holly would have to re-read her books to find out what exactly forest dwellers did. Perhaps she could ask them all questions later? Right now there was this unsettling man in the room.

Holly started to notice the music in the room. Where was that coming from? She looked around and saw a guy around her age lying down and with his headphones over his ears without a care in the world. At least it was a good song. The redhead started humming along to the tune.

August's entrance seemed to cause a great stir in the crowd, but since Andromeda had most of her back to him when he entered, it came as unexpected. Quite unfortunate for one of the most skittish people in the room at that moment.

With the new voice, Andromeda's instincts took over again and all of her tension seemed to release itself into her legs at that moment, for her bare feet rocketed her into the air turning completely around before landing and facing the man. Her eyes blazed white for a good few seconds, her hands poised in front of her, despite her powers showing no sign of revealing themselves. Then that too faded away and she was left drained and panting against the wall.

The band around her wrist seemed to allow her to "use" her powers, despite none of the effects actually being allowed to become usable. Probably why her eyes could still glow as they normally do as it really doesn't pertain to any of her power, as well as why she felt weaker as though she had used up her energy reserves. It seemed as though it also enhanced the drain since she only used them for a couple seconds, and she felt as though she'd been using them for an hour.

She held her head as it started to spin a little, but regained enough composure to lift her head up and hear what the strange man had to say.

Glancing down herself, Alia huffed softly at the flimsy heels she was wearing. What if they made them walk or run or something? Was she going have to go around in these uncomfortable shoes for the whole time they had her here? A part of her was wishing desperately for it to be a joke. But it couldn't be. Too many strangers, too many strange things. One girl's eyes had just glowed. Perhaps they were freaks like her? Hands folded in her lap, she momentarily bit down on her lip. She would not succumb to becoming hysterical. Or that was the plan, anyway. There was faint music coming from somewhere, too... "Are you going to tell us what is going on here or not?" she asked in her usual cultured tone, changing her mind about staying silence. No, she would not stay in the dark. "This has all been rather... Rude."

"The night version of Jupiter, god of nocturnal lightening and thunder." she said softly in response to Summanus though it was no particularly aimed at anyone. There was more she could add, but it would make her seem prissy, not that the boy probably didn't already think this.

She even inclined her head slightly in acknowledgement to Holly.

Before she could respond further to the three or any of the others, there was a click somewhere behind her. She stood and turned, raising an eyebrow as a strange heavy set man walked in. He introduced himself as August-she'd heard worse names-and he was clearly someone in charge. Eva looked at everyone in the room, the final occupant was just waking up-a girl in high heels- but Lance was still not back. And the drunk was still laying on the floor. Eva gently nudges him with her foot in order to get his attention before backing away. The daughter of death's overseer had heard obnoxiously loud music when she had gotten near, and there was a good chance he was hearing nothing that was being said.

Her gaze flickered to Andromeda as the woman's sudden movement caught her eye. Eva guessed from her actions that this girl had powers but, like shadow-travel, whatever this ability happened to be seemed limited to physical and mental strength. As she stumbled away, Eva watched quietly. Helping the strange forest-dweller would catch too much attention and it could put them in more danger.

Then high-heel girl chirped up, and Eva looked at August as she waited for an answer.

"Oh good, campfire time without the fire..." she muttered.

August ignored the mutterings around the room but raised an unimpressed eyebrow as one girl leapt to her feet, her eyes flashing. She had raised her hands in front of her, whether to defend herself or to try and attack him August neither knew or cared, but she soon started to swoon.

August watched her coolly for a moment before deciding to ignore her. Instead he turned his attention to the young girl with black wavy hair who had spoken.

"I would apologise for the lack of etiquette so far, but I neither crave nor need your forgiveness. You have all been brought here to partake in an experiment of my employer's. Participation is not mandatory, although failure to comply will result in perpetual imprisonment."

"Perpetual imprisonment?" asked a woman dressed in lilac. She had been crouched down behind a chair on the far side of the room and had not had a chance to interact with anyone else. "So you'd keep us locked up until we die?"

"No" answered August simply. "Death implies an end. The bracelets on your wrists not only seal off your powers and magics, but contain a poison that will be injected the moment you break the rules. The poison is magical in nature and will turn your flesh to stone."

Luc rolled over, using his left arm to support his weight, and his right elbow resting against his right knee and the palm of his right hand supporting his head, the movement alone causing one side of his headphones to slide past his ear. The cause for this sudden movement, the feeling of being nudged on his side.

He examined the room through half open eyes, noticing several people in various locations around this dull looking room, a couple of which were standing only a few meters in front of him. He had 'gotten up' just in time to hear the bald man's speech.

He pretty much understood the situation right away, after all this kind of thing happened nearly all the time in movies and tv shows especially when it concerned people with abilities; take X-men Wolverine as one example.

By the mere mention of 'magic sealing' from the man, it was clear that everyone in this room had some form of ability, otherwise what else could they have of value that some organization would go through all this trouble to attain. He sighed a little, before pusing himself up into a standing position.

With his left hand, he pulled down his headset, so that they now hung around his neck, the music still blasting away through the speakers, whilst his right hand wiped any dust particles that may have stuck to his clothes. His head ached a little, but that was the least of his concerns right now.

"Yo, Chrome dome.." he interrupted, now leaning against the back wall. "You mentioned something about experiments..." he paused and stared at the man "What exactly do you mean by that?" he questioned, not once removing his eyes from the man, not even the glare from the lights reflecting off his shiny round noggin were enough to distract him.

Alia gaped for a couple of moments, before realising she was probably looking like an idiot. She closed her mouth, looking at the man with distrust in her eyes. It couldn't be true that a poison could do that. Yet here was a room full of people with powers. Perhaps it was possible. It would not be wise to risk becoming stone. Glancing toward the next boy who had spoken, she sharply nodded in agreement. "Yes, what is he doing to us, then? If he is insisting on holding us captive for an indefinite amount of time, he may as well show the courtesy of letting us know what's in store," she said lowly, her upper lip curling slightly. Of course there was nothing polite or nice about what was happening. A little bit of humour for herself. She was sure that they would not be staying here for a long time - her father would rescue her, right?

"Like what the dude with the cool music and high-heel chick said, what do these experiments entail? It is quite obvious from your mention of the effects of these bracelets that we have been chosen for this purpose because of assorted abilities we possess. I am sure that this forceful induction into your employer's experimentation is unneeded and a violation of the laws pertaining to not only public or private laboratories, but basic rights as well. Surely there would be people that would be ready to do this voluntarily?" The redhead didn't exactly look the part of a lawyer, not with her black tank top depicting a pink cartoon cat, ripped jeans, makeup, and military boots. But invoking the legalese might help, even if it was from a girl who looked like a ginger bimbo.

Actually, it won't. You and everyone else besides this August man here has a bracelet that saps your powers and will turn you into a statue. I don't really think you have the power here, Holly. And there goes your chance of dissolving and absconding. It seemed like August had not been lying. Andromeda's eyes had been flashing and it was like she had been trying to use her abilities without success. If that was true, the stone part was likely to be true as well.

Eva had held back from saying anything, she had wanted to hear what some of the others would say. She was calculating everything and everyone as she listened. Finally, after Holly's comment, she hissed under her breath.

"If there were willing volunteers, and if management gave a censorkip.gif about laws, we wouldn't be here." the woman said with a clenched fist as she spoke. There were fires burning where the pupils of her eyes should be now. Bad memories flocked around and cluttered her mind, things she'd tried to forget, and things that she had never wanted to remember were returning. She took a silent breath and blinked, right now was not the time to let her past creep up on her. Time to focuse on the present. When her eyes opened the flames had gone. The girl shook her head, the others had already asked suitable questions, now all the strange man had to do was answer them. Evangelina took the opportunity to turn back and focuse her gaze on Andromeda. She walked over and gently placed a hand on the girl's shoulder.

"Relax. Save your energy for later." she told her in barely a whisper so that only the younger girl could hear.

"Are you alright?" she asked while eyeing the bracelets with distaste.

"You were each chosen because of the unique powers and magics that you each possess" explained August. "My employer wishes to learn more about them and how they can be applied in combat. You will all in engage in a series of battles, which will take place at least once a day. You may be required to fight each other or overcome other obstacles. You may not be selected to participate in every battle, but refusing to take part will activate your bracelets."

He motioned to the long corridor leading away from the room.

"At the far end of this corridor lies the doors to the arena. That is where you will fight. Your bracelet will allow use of your powers while inside the arena, but will seal them off again when you leave. Down that corridor are cells where you may rest and recover from any injuries you have obtained. On each of your bracelets there is a number. It is the number of your cell."

August looked around the room, studying each of the occupants in turn. For a moment his eyes lingered on Eli, who had on moved since he had entered, and then on a tall man dressed in white who had also remained silent so far.

"And for your clarification, no, we do not care about whether you want to be here or not. We do not care for what is legal or illegal. We are bad people. We do bad things. The first battle will commence in half an hour. For this one you will all take part. I suggest you take this time to prepare."

August turned to leave and opened the door he had entered through, but before he could continue on the white clothed man finally spoke.

"Wait! Just who is this employer of yours?"

August turned to look at him over his shoulder.

"His name is Zygard. You may have heard of him."

With that August walked through the door and shut it behind him. The man in white stood frozen for a moment.

"We're dead."

Alia listened to what August had to say. Then she glanced down at her bracelet. Number one. Huh. That was probably unlucky. And-And they had to fight?! Terror crossed her expression. She had never fought before, and what powers she had were not offensive. "Zygard!?" she cried out after the announcement, glancing toward the man in white. They were going to be tortured to their end. This had to be the worst fate one could ever have. Rising from her seat, she sniffled softly and rubbed at an eye with the heel of a hand. She was most certainly going to die. With that, she set off with a click-clack down the corridor leading to her room. These people were going to be hurting her soon.

((Are there any furnishings in the cells?))

((There's only a bed. It's not a hotel lol.))

Eli wrapped his arms over his head and buried his faces in his knees. He felt so afraid and confused. Why did they it to be like this? Everyone knew Zygard's reputation for cruelty. Eli's father was always telling him about the things he had done, causing him many sleepless nights. Now he was locked in here with all these strange people who could be capable of anything. He felt like crying.

Alia found her room to be at the very end of the corridor, nearest the arena and opposite number two. She turned the handle and entered, face completely and utterly the expression of miserable. She took in the room. Just a bed, and the walls were made of stones. Going to the only furnishing, she sat on the edge and unlaced her heels. They would do her no good in the arena if they had to fight. Then she drew her legs up onto the bed, hugging her knees for a couple of moments as she stared ahead blankly. What preparation could she do?

Luc watched as the man exited, his departing words causing a couple of the other sad saps unfortunate enough to get abducted to panic. Sighing, Luc reached into his pants pocket with his right hand and pulled out his MP3, beginning to fiddle around with the song selection.

His lack of concern about the situation hidden by the slight ray of hope, which he had managed to deduce from the man's comments. Mr 8 ball, said nothing about slicing and dicing them up to see what made their powers work, he merely mentioned a gladiator style set up which at the end of the day meant that in order to survive, you had to win and as long as you survived there was a chance to get out of here... a fate far better then one where your lifeless body was being dissected in some underground lab.

"So who is this Zygoat fella?" he inquired, not raising his head from the MP3. He hadn't noticed the girl leaving the room.

"Never opened a book boy?" asked the woman dressed in lilac. "Zygard is a super criminal. One of the nastiest to ever exist. He hasn't been seen for a while, but everyone knows about him. Or at least they should do. He has left deep and bloody scars across half the planet."

"Do I look like the type of person, who read's books?" he responded, still not looking up from the device, his fingers spinning away at the circular control at the front. Luc's expression didn't change as she explained just how big of a villain the man was, it's not liked it would have changed anything, had he put on a shocked and worried expression to fit the mood.

Satisfied with the song he had found, he returned the device into his pocket and finally looked up at the rest of the room. "Anyways, now that the lady in purple has filled us in on who Zygard is, why don't we change the subject..."he paused for a while and looked around."... what powers do all of you have..?" his expression changed slightly into one of more seriousness, as he continued to examine the others.

Kanya felt her body getting colder as she lay on the floor, only to curl herself up a bit to keep the heat she had. Her eyes were open, looking straight at a wall. She refused to turn around and look around; she didn’t want to know where she was to begin with.

Suddenly her ears picked up sounds and soon people started to talk. Out of fear she closed her eyes, pretending to sleep wanting to stay invisible. She could hear there was a bit of a disagreement between people. Kanya couldn’t listen anymore to them, they scared her but when a man’s voice echoed in the room they young girl could not ignore it.

As he spoke Kanya looked at her wrist noticing the bracelet, something that stopped her powers. A small sigh escaped her lips but grew tense again when she heard they were going to fight.

Andromeda nods slowly to the demigoddess. She would be fine, she just needed time to recuperate. She turned her attention back to the man, listening carefully. She became shocked to hear their purpose there and started to shake all over.

Half an hour?? I can't recuperate that much energy in half an hour! Her thoughts whirled as she thought of the consequences. Her foolish misuse of her tampered powers had cost her energy reserves dearly, and she wasn't going to be able to perform the way she wanted. She'd have to play it safe, and the next time she could come out in full force.

She was about to ask the exact same question about who was doing this to them, but another boy did it for her. All good and well, she preferred to remain quiet if she had to. But at the moment he mentioned Zygard's name, she gasped and grasped onto the closest thing to her, which happened to be Evangelina's arm. She flushed pink again and released it quickly.

After August had departed, she looked at the demigoddess again a little more carefully. Did she truly mean no harm? Was she a willing ally? And what about the boy Eli, who had not yet moved? It seemed that Andromeda had unknowingly singled him out when she woke, and Eva had further created a group by talking to them both at once. She looked down at her wristband, sporting the number seven, and then at Evangelina's. Six.

She decided that someone was better than no one. After a bit of hesitation, she took hold of Eva's arm again, lighter this time, and wordlessly looked into her eyes. If she looked hard enough past the fear and worry, determination and trust would shine through. If she was willing, she had an ally in the young Andromeda. A quick glance towards Eli would indicate the same, inviting him wordlessly into a makeshift allegiance. She silently hoped the number he bore would be close to seven, she knew she needed support.

After a little hesitation, she too walked to the door, her bare feet silently gliding over the cold stone. Perhaps she would surprise them when she broke her silence as she reached the door and spoke in a soft voice, gently flowing words that one knew came from a life of peace rather than war.

"Zygard will not get the best of me, I plan on living a long life." Her eyes let another flash of light loose, as though to seal her point as truth. And as far as she saw, her eyes were the only things in the entire room of people which gave an outwardly obvious indication that any of them had powers. Despite meaning nothing, she hoped that her ability to show this would shake the others, as though she were one step ahead of them in successfully circumventing the bracelet's power. It was her only trump card at that moment. She turned to the boy with the headphones. "An energy manipulator. You will find out how in the arena."

She glided out the door, closing it behind her and walking to her cell. She found number seven and discovered it just as woefully furnished as Holly had. She looked across the hall and saw that number six was in fact diagonally situated to hers. She sighs. You can't win them all I suppose. She laid down on her bed and closed her eyes, knowing she would need rest if she was going into battle.

The woman in lilac shook her head and turned away from the arrogant boy with headphones. Instead she turned her attention to the man in white who had spoken to August earlier.

"Don't I know you?" she asked. "You're Hector right? A member of the League?"

Hector nodded.

"I am."

The woman smiled.

"Then if it is okay with you, I think I'll be sticking close. I'm not much of a combatant myself. The name's Siren."

Again Hector nodded.

"Pleased to meet you, although I could wish the circumstances were different. If we are to fight soon I suggest we do what we can to conserve our strength. I'm going to go check out these cells of ours."

"I'll come with you."

Together Siren and Hector left the common room to go and inspect their cells, which to their surprise turned out to be the same one.

Eli, with his face hidden from view, had failed to see Andromeda's silent plea of allegiance. He didn't want to fight. He hated fighting.

Lydia had been awake for awhile now laying on the stone cold floor. She had only been listening to the others talk. There was no point for her to get up and look around her surroundings, she couldn't see them anyways. She knew that something was wrong though when she couldn't hear the music playing. Like as if she was the one wearing the headphones, this slightly frightened lydia. She needed her advanced hearing to be able to 'see' the world around her.

Though she decided to test how hindered her echolocation was by producing some small soft clicks and senses that there are a few people standing and some sitting. There seems to be a large opening by a wall probably the hallway that guy August said that lead to the battle arena and to their cells.

Lydia was afraid not of fighting or that she will appear weak to the others for being blind. She is afraid about what will happen to her if they are let loose. Though just by the name of their captor she highly doubts that will ever happen. Sighing in frustration she sits up and leans agenst a wall not willing to stand up yet until there is less people in the room.

Alia put her hands over her eyes and exhaled slowly. She was wishing desperately for it to be a joke. A prank. Yet it could never be. Her mind was working overtime as to how she could fight; perhaps she could just stay out of the way, to the side, and no-one would pick on her? Maybe it would be a good idea to form an alliance too. No-one would want to form an alliance with someone who could not fight.

Eva's eyes followed August as he walked out, she had only looked away when Andromeda grabbed her arm. She glanced back at the girl and shot her a warm smile. The woman looked back at August in silence. Now that he had leafy, Eva looked down the corridor.

"Zygard...Zygard." she muttered softly under her breath. The name was familiar. Eva looked around at the others. Neither Elli nor Summanus had spoken the entire time. Andromeda and Elli seemed to be taking it the hardest out of everyone while the drunk kid was rather nonchalant.

She looked back at corridor that led to their cells as Alia left the room. Eva resolved to watch quietly for a few minutes, but she was startled when someone took a hold of her arm. She felt a light tug and had it not been for her arm moving, she never would have known that the girl had grabbed her arm. Damanged nerves were damaged nerves, she had very little feeling in certain areas if any. When she saw it was Andromeda, the fist at her side uncurled and she inclined her head after a few minutes.

"Watch your back." she told the girl before leaving.

The daughter of Hades looked back over at Elli. He was still there scrunched up against the wall. Eva knelt in front of the scared boy.

"Elli, come on. We'll go find your cell, hmm?" she paused as something clicked.

"Wait, wait, wait. Zygard the vampire?" she asked with a scowl.

((Ironically...my demigod chat has RP'd with quite a few vampires...one actually warned her of a higher-up vamp that was after people with abilities...))
