It's a little unfortunate how slow it is all the time,,, I read a post that said its been a problems since 2019 so my hopes aren't up about it getting fixed 😭

what i know is that while the lag has been there for a while, they (Rosehill) IS working on it, constantly.

 

i imagine it's like this~

every single time.

 

so i just F5 and wait, and do something else.

Is there any news on the status of the site? It's been a while since MS when on Hiatus. I really do miss the site and my creatures, even more so because the Wiki hasn't been updated with some of the newer releases.

yep! the site came back on september 1! there's a huge post with everything they did/updated, and some of the things that aren't quite back up yet.  but it's back! 🎊

Heads up! Gold mining has been officially banned by MS, it's causing the site to crash and lag.

As you all know, we've been struggling with site slowness and lag for years now. We have finally narrowed down the cause, and it's not one we're happy to report. We had hoped it was simple bots, but bots are not the main cause.

Gold mining is slowing down and crashing the site. As people have gotten more efficient at it, opening thousands of pages as people acquire more and more creatures, the site simply cannot keep up. Gold mining is essentially "DDOSing" the site--sending so many requests to pages that it cannot keep up. There is no way around this. Mining has to stop.

This is an official stance from now on. If you are gold mining with add-ons and scripts, stop immediately. As we fix things around the site and make improvements, and control bots who are nuisances, we need a smooth site. If we notice IPs who are mining at unsustainable rates, you will be banned.

If gold mining continues at rates that slow the site, we will remove the ability to get gold from adult creatures. There will be no point to setting up mining for all these pages or writing scripts to get gold. We will leave the ability to get gold from eggs and hatchlings, but if that also drives people to mine in ways that crash the site, that will also be removed.

Obviously, people need a way to get gold. We will set up additional solutions, and are currently brainstorming ideas. We are open to ideas for ways to acquire gold and balance the in-game economy. Please feel free to discuss.

I know people enjoy mining. But ultimately, the way it works currently is unsustainable. Please do not mine, and let other players enjoy a stable site.

 Using extensions to open a reasonable number of links is allowed but opening hundreds and hundreds of links is causing problems

What is crashing the site is if people mine e.g. the Image Free Gold Mine so that they open hundreds or thousands of links in one go, and keep doing that for hours on end. There's no clear reason why the site cannot handle that any more, but at the moment it just can't. -Rosehill

Thanks! It looks very relaxing and cute! Unsure about the paywall critters, though. Are there any clicksites for it? I can't seem to find any.

I have a handful of the donation critters, but some of them I got from others. it's complicated because you can't trade unfrozen eggs. 

 

for "fansites," there's the Image Free Nursery ( https://magi-ifn.net/ ) and click threads under Reindeer Games, and the critters have external links to post them on facebook and twitter/x.  BUT they recently (august 2023) completely overhauled the server, and too much (automated, like with bots) clicking, (aka goldmining) is now not allowed. 

 

I've tweeted and posted critters in the click threads and they grow up quickly.

 

I've seen people mention Yarold's, but I've never been on the site myself.

 

and it relaxing.... the critters don't die 

 

(oh! I have a link for the Pet Hatchery, that I think you can put ms creatures on. I'll have to check the link on my laptop and post it later)

I just discovered quests and I really like the descriptions for everything! Do you know if it’s ok to click them by hand? I have no idea what goldmining is but it seems like people do it with bots? 
 

Also, I have found a cat egg. Apparently cats hatch from eggs!

yep!

 

yes, goldmining is using a bot to click on like thousands of creatures at once.  however, it is OKAY to go into the click threads and use snaplinks or linkclump to open the critters on each post.  you can also use the Image Free Nursery (which i linked in my post above as well.)

 

yes, there's a few kinds of cats too - also winged cats.

Yeah I'm really excited for it  had no idea that was happening until recently. Dunno how I'm going to start collections when there might be lots of cool new releases- not a problem I mind having though

probably a lot of things happening in May, which was when the site started.  i joined at the end of May 2009, when the site was barely a month old.
