The Light in The Shadows

[IceFyr1928]

Shyk shook his head from where he was standing, just inside of the cave. He strode out to where Hysteria was digging, and put his large paw into the hole.

 

"You aren't digging correctly. See, if you scoop your paw like this, and use your claws like this, then drag along the side, you can get the most dirt out. Doesn't that make it much easier?" Shyk said, showing the proper digging technique.

" Oh. That seems a lot easier." Hysteria said, copying the way Shyk dug out dirt. " Thanks!" She said happily. The hole was getting deeper faster now. The mound beside the hole was getting bigger. " Tenebrae, are you going to help?" Hysteria narrowed her eyes.

[Nanashi]

Tenebrae blinked, just clicking in. "Waitwaitwait. We're not supposed to be digging here!" he said, holding some sort of movable item. He placed it on his back as Luces flew ahead, vanishing out of sight. A light orb appeared where she was.

 

Venom watched, not moving. He looked like a statue. Animals slowly returned, thinking it was safe.

" Oh." Hysteria said, and started pushing the dirt mound toward the hole. It falls and the hole is covered up. " All that work!" Hysteria complained.

[Nanashi]

Tenebrae grumbled something and flew after Luces. The object he had made sat perfectly still as he flew.

Teiren stood up straight. It appeared that the small animals that inhabited the nearby area were beginning to come back.

 

"It appears that we are at a standoff," she said. "What is it that you are waiting for? There is no reason for you to be staying, correct?"

[Nanashi]

Venom didn't move. Finally, Dulca stepped out. He make sure not to look him in the eye. "Come, I think we are finished for now," he said. "You may look me in the eye, Dulcamara. Now, then..." Dulca looked up at It and the two then turned and flew back to the Human Cave. Venom walked back into the cave. "Make sure to tell me when you need help again," he said and curled up, falling asleep. Dulca flew back to Teiren's cave, hiding nearby in the bushes again.

Teiren sighed relief as the two dragons, or, well, the dragon-esque thing and his pal, flew off. She settled down, hoping to actually get some sleep. Sadly, it was not to be. The dragon, Dulcamara was back. She could tell he was trying to be stealthy, but one can only be so quiet while traveling through underbrush. Plus, she could clearly smell him, even through the odor that the beast had brought with its poison.

 

"You can stop trying to hide from me," she shouted ou of the cave. "I'm a bit too hard to sneak up on for someone of your skill."

[Nanashi]

Dulca stepped out. "You've passed your first test, but the second one has yet to come," he said, then turned, jumped into the air, and flew away. He landed inside a cave, quite far from Teiren's but close to the Human Cave, curled up, and fell asleep.

Lune stepped out of the shadows. She wasn't her full height as a Shadow Cat, but could cause enough trouble. She heard voices, not too far. Ears quivering, she slid into the shadows behind Dulcamara and Teiren. She was careful not to make a sound.

Hysteria followed Tenebrae and Luces.

Teiren shook her head. Apparently, one had to survive some 'trials' if they wanted to actually live in peace. She almost decided to go back to her clan. No, that wasn't an option. She curled up in the back of her cave. Hopefully, there wouldn't be any more god damned interruptions to her much needed sleep.

Lune creeped into Teiren's cave and sat there, watching. Maybe this dragon has the ability to sense others' presence? she thought, but the thought quickly went away; if the dragon had known she was here, it would have called out ' Who's there?' Or something. Lune got bored herself so she fell asleep in the shadows of Teiren's cave.

[Nanashi]

Tenebrae stopped in front of Nyght's cave, where everyone was sleeping. e flew inside, set up the object, and flew out. He built another object.

Lune poked her dark gray head out of the shadows when she saw the mysterious object. She rolled it over to the shadows and stared at it. Interesting, but what it is it? Maybe I can catch that dragon... She thought, but it wasn't worth it. She could just watch the strange object so far.

Shade's eyes snapped open to the fluttering of dragon wings. He sprung to his feet, slipping out of the visible spectrum as he did. He scanned the cave, not seeing any hint of an intruder, but there was a strange item on the floor of the cave. Shade took a step towards it, but a Shadow Cat darted out, pulling it into the shadows. Shade hissed as he saw that it wasn't one of his clan's allies. A short spring later, he was pinning Lune down under him, dripping fangs quite visible, along with the rest of his black body.

 

"You do not belong here..." he growled. His claws dug into the stone around Lune, making escape near impossible.

Lune hissed and growled, fading into the shadows for a second, to arrive out of Shade's grasp a second later. " You can't catch me easily, you know!" She laughed, and flicked the item into the forest. " Oh, whoops. Clumsy me," she snorted sarcastically. It was sort of true; Lune was very clumsy. The dark gray shadow cat zipped up a tree.

[Nanashi]

Tenebrae watched from the shadows, invisible. Luces hissed from behind Shade, hidden in the shadows, too.

Shade lumbered out of the cave, a bundle of materials on his back. He took to the skies, his path headed directly for White Shadow's clan cave.

[Nanashi]

Tenebrae darted ahead of Shade, using all of his speed in order to reach White Shadow's cave before him. He landed. "Sombra, get up, NOW." The Shadow Walker stood up. "What is it?" "There's a dragon flying here- A Cavern Lurker, to be exact." Sombra growled. She walked out, Tenebrae following.

Lune watched Tenebrae zoom off and prowled after him. She looked at 'Sombra'. The stupid dragon was sleeping!

Hysteria hastily followed Tenebrae. "Yeah!" She said.

[IceFyr1928]

Shade slowly grinned as he spotted another drago shooting past him. All according to plan... He landed in a small clearing, quickly assembling the trap that he had prepared for such an occasion. Leaving it in the clearing, Shade strode out into the clearing near White Shadow's cave, being sure to appear as if he had flown directly there. His eyes filled with mock terror as he spotted some of the clan approaching from the mouth of the cave.

Shyk crept through the shadows, his target quite visible. He watched as Shade approached his clan's cave. He already had watched him construct the trap, and as such knew its inner workings. He'd wait for a crucial moment in his reverie, and come out, revealing Shades true intentions with the successfully disabled trap, which sat harmlessly behind him. Shyk grinned evilly as Shade made his appearance, his Aura disclosing Shade's true intentions.

[Nanashi]

Sombra watched, completely still. The only thing moving was the shadows that covered her. They flickered and darted around, like they had their own life. Mystness watched, and made a squeaking noise. The little Pygmy was confused. Tenebrae wondered where Luces was.

Lune peered at Mystness. Hatchling, she confirmed to herself, letting back a snort. What was the point in being a Shadow Cat, of you gave yourself away?

Hysteria's jaw opened in some sort of gasp as the shadows moved. "Cool!" She whispered.

[Nanashi]

The shadows started forming letters. Once finished it said: 'What are you doing here, Cavern Lurker?' Tenebrae watched, surprised that Sombra hadn't talked instead- She rarely used 'shadow words' anymore. He used the shadows to cover himself and vanished as he backed into the shadows. Mystness was afraid; The new dragon looked scarier then the ones she normally saw... She squeaked and hid in he eggshells.

Shade's mind went blank. He tried to recover, but for a brief second his false fear dropped. "I- I- I-"

 

Shyk came out of his hiding spot, tossing the destroyed trap in front of Shade. "He was attempting to use this. Not useful now, but quite dangerous when put together."

 

Shade hissed, and took a step back. However, instead of turning and running, he sprang at Sombra, his claws catching on her wing as his mass pushed her over. He was quickly pulled off by Shyk, who's random shapeshifter made him a tough opponent. Having done his damage, Shade hissed one last time, which was met by a roar from Shyk, and flew off.
