Thank you! I'm guessing this is a reverse joke: TJ announces good "Coming Soon" feature-we nay say it as a joke- then TJ actually releases said feature and says "April Fools!" to us.

new dragons do not add to the gameplay, they are not new features in my point of view. Thus, the last changes I count would be bsa, lineages, biomes, thats all 3 years in the past.

Sorry, but Activision-Blizzard beat you to it and already trademarked 'Soon' for their imminent-to-never release dates. You'll have to stick with the less catchy 'Someday' or 'In the future' or even 'Probably maybe this month/year/millennia'.

I could argue that new dragons do add to gameplay by giving you more to collect/breed, but new dragons are kind of...expected? Same with holiday stuff. It's not really new permanent features, just events which only add gameplay for when they're available.

You're right in that there haven't been many big announcements (until now), but I think it'd be difficult to claim that the site is the same as it was three years ago (plus a few new dragons).

it was announced on aprils fools - if it is a double take, well, then it indeed is a nice new feature I really want to try out. Where can I sign up for the beta?

 

@eef: well, new dragons are just like different color tetris blocks or OS background-images.

 

While they change something optical, they do not change anything about how the game is played or how your options are. they just add volume, data, not gameplay.

A lot of the behavior on DC is emergent (read: comes out of no where thanks to people who use the site), so adding more breeds does create more possibilities for such behavior to develop.

Aside from the new dragons, I consider the amazing holiday events that have been done (most recently the valentine's garden and the snow forts, both totally awesome!) to have been major enhancements to the gameplay. Yes, they were temporary, but I was on DC for that temporary period much more as a result of those, plus I have neat new icons/memorabilia from the event. I do not think "no new features" is a fair statement.
