New Filters + Filter Improvements + Custom Filters

Recommended Posts

I think this might be rather simple to implement and it would make sorting much easier for any number of reasons, such as breeding or descriptions. Excellent idea!

Genders - It would be really useful if we could sort by male or female so that only dragons of that gender would be shown. It would make breeding dragons easier because you would have an easier time finding the dragon you want to breed.

Caveborn/Lineaged - Being able to sort between Caveborn and Lineaged dragons would help a lot when trying to find a certain dragon. If you know you only have X CB or X lineaged of a certain breed, but don't remember their names/codes, this would come in handy

Genders - I don't really see how sorting by gender would make breeding easier...If you select say a male it will automatically show you all of the females available to breed with it.

Caveborn/Lineaged - I just sort this by naming them something different, if I really want to remember its a CB just naming it something you will remember will do...like CB in front of its name means its a CB or all dragons names that have x in front of them are CB...etc

What I would love more than anything in the world is tabs instead of filters. Than you could custom sort them any way you wanted.

It's easier to find a dragon and not to mistake one gender for another; I know I've forgotten a dragon's gender and been confused why it didn;t show up in another's queue too many a time...

I have a suggestion for filter display. Let me ask a question first. If you are using 'filter by available for breeding' what will your next action be? Breed. If you are using 'filter by availble BSA' what will your next action be? BSA! I suggest that in these views, the 'actions' link is replaced by a shortcut straight to the action in question.

As an aside, the same concept should be used for another action. After I use fertility on a dragon, what is my next action? To breed that dragon. There should e a link from the fertility success page straight to 'breed'.

Oh, and I absolutely support the custom filter. Sort by gender doesn't bother me, but custom filter would be amazing!

Can we have filter options applied to other people's scrolls? Just See All, Eggs/Unfrozen Hatchlings, and Unamed Hatchlings/Adults (and preferably its reverse, Named ones).

Oh I would love to be able to filter growing things on other people's scrolls! I do a lot of gifting and like to choose someone who is unlocked or will be within a reasonable timeframe, but not everyone keeps their growing things nicely sorted at the top so I have to search and count the eggs to try to find out if they're locked or not...

Yes, there are some really good ideas for newer filters. smile.gif If I may make a few suggestions:

- Show only described dragons; this could also be available if you view someone else's scroll (for people who love to read descriptions!)

- Have filters for the breeding pages. (Pretty please?)

I also like the idea of giving a shortcut to the BSA page if you use the "available for BSA" filter - or a shortcut to breeding if you use the "available for breeding" filter. However, I'd rather consider this low priority.

More filters, yes please. I like being able to sort things temporarily without having to change my real custom sort order.

Another filters suggestion: after performing an action from a filter page, in addition to the "Return to Actions" link, a "Return to (filter page)" link?

For example, I bring up all my unnamed dragons; I name one; now to name the next, I either have to go back and refresh (to remove that dragon from the list), or return to the main page and filter again. Adding a link that says 'Return to Unnamed Dragons List' would be a nice convenience.

Or, I want to use all the 'SPLASH's for the day; I sort for BSA; I use one Shallow Water; again, to just click once to go back to the 'Show available for BSA' page would be very convenient.

I for example have 'only' 400+ dragons in the breedable list to search trough and it sometimes is quiet a pain in the *** to search for a specific dragon to breed. What of users with 1000+ dragons? I can imagine it would be quite helpful.

All you have to do is find a way to organize your scroll early on. Me, for instance - I usually know exactly which dragons are CB - they carry some sort of title on my scroll, usually Lord or Lady, and I have a very good idea of the lineages I breed myself. Plus, I know my favorite dragons by name. (Just as an aside, I have almost 1500 now.) And if you know the name, you can easily use CTRL+F to search for it... cool.gif

So, I love being able to sort by available BSA, etc. But my scroll is rather large (2700+ dragons and growing), and I have numerous lineage projects going on. It's getting really hard to keep track of them. I'd love to have an option to put dragons in named groups (ie 'PB Tsunami' or 'Water x Ridgewing Checker') that I could sort for so that they are easier to find and keep track of when I want to breed them. Just like now, it wouldn't change how the scroll looks as a whole, but would give me as the owner easier ways to navigate.

So it would just be an addition to the already exisiting drop down menu? I totally support this idea for custom grouping. Not only can you add/sort your own projects but add additional groups for favorite dragon breeds, etc.

Many of us are having the same concern, but a way for TJ to code it for us is the problem at this point. smile.gif

that seems focused on sorting, which I wouldn't mind an update to. My suggestion is just dealing with grouping dragons, not changing their positions on the scroll. So they seem pretty different to me.

I'd really like something like this. I could sort my dragons based on the stories I'm trying to develop in their descriptions.

I know who all has a description, but they're all spread out along my scroll's 3 pages. xd.png

Kind of like the folder option on the computer? Where you title it then drag/check the documents in only with dragons? And then that becomes a section you can check for in the filters folder. Sounds like a great idea personally :)though a projected problem would be people making too many filters ie "folders" that it takes up too much room on the servers :/ I am for it though!

Huh.... So, basically creating your own custom filters, to go with the ones we already have?

I like this idea! And to prevent strain on the servers... You could have a limit of say, 5 filters per person. And the ability to delete a filter. And of course, limit the number of dragons you can put into the filter.

Cheers!

I like this! I've been afraid that when I get more dragons, I'll forget everything. This is much needed.

I think it may be easier to make multiple costom sorts and then they can be added to the drop down menu, and i'm sure that would be easier then making new filters...

wait..did i basically say exactly what you aid?

Yes, you did smile.gif

I'd like personalized 'folders' that would not be serverside, but you could literally put a folder of your dragons onto your desktop, and organize from there.
