Review: This is apparently the fifth book in the Domestic Diva Mystery series. Fortunately the author supplies a Cast of Characters at the beginning which helped me sort out people who popped in seemingly from nowhere with no explanation. I enjoyed the book and don't feel that I ultimately lost anything by not having read the previous books. The chapters are quite short, which makes it easy to pick up and read a bit between other things. If you love cheesecake the book is guaranteed to leave your mouth watering! It introduces her family and several of the major characters from the series. Review: I did enjoy this book, especially since it explained certain little references that were made in earlier books. However, one of the major plotlines involved the possible paternity of her son and I found this disturbing because it seemed to crowd out the sad romance that had always been an important part of the character's history. Review: This book nicely wraps up loose ends in the series. All the regular characters showed up and were set on their paths toward a happy future. It was, in all ways, a satisfying conclusion. Review: This is the 28th book in the Stephanie Plum series and I have read most of the others. As usual Stephanie goes from one scrape to another, managing to get several cars blown up or otherwise destroyed in the process. But to me this book just fell flat. I usually find the characters hilarious, but they were almost lifeless in this book -- no tension between them, no laugh-out-loud moments. It seems the author has gotten tired of them all. The only character who remained his usual self was Rex the hamster -- even Morelli's dog Bob lost his zest. And Stephanie's mom takes up knitting instead of drinking to calm her nerves? I have always looked forward to the next book, but I seriously hope that this is the last in the series unless the author can breathe new life into these people. (Just found out there is a 29th book.
