i worked this afternoon, finally got to this thread!

 

it's "static season," where everything is all zappy and staticky, and i keep zapping my laptop keyboard.  it's making me nervous. (there's a story with that....)

 

i'm off tomorrow, it's supposed to be snowy and icy and messy in the afternoon.... we'll see if younger daughter makes it into work tomorrow night

Aaah, crap. They lowered the chance of precipitation and dropped the low on Monday night to 10 F.

That is extremely low for here, but they keep changing the forecast, so we'll see.

edit - she hatched right after i posted this (i still had a red dragon.  now i'm using hair dryers )

 

10F? brr!!  it's actually going to be in the 20s for our lows... except today's low is like 19F.  and tuesday is like 14F. BRRR.....

A blue norther?  No, it predicts the wind will drop with the temperature that night.  A blue norther is when the wind is strong, blows the sky clear, and gets bitter cold.

Blue northers probably have really clear nights.

 

I do wish the live music people would remember this is predominantly a residential area. My ABBA is not drowning it out.

Try classical. I've seen a few articles that claim it is not mood setting for people who like stirring things up.

we have lots of strong wind, bitter cold nights... and yes, those are the best nights for star gazing and seeing things like meteors... or lunar eclipses (yes, i did that yeeeeears ago with my daughters.  at 3 a.m.

I have decided to venture to Starbucks on my way to work this morning.

I also suspect we will have people showing up today for the jewellery sale that was last week.  I mentioned it in the TV interview which was filmed before the sale but not actually aired until after it. Sigh.

it's cold here too.....but it's also february. winter happens  

 

i'm off today, and all caught up on my shows for this week.

 

i just got a dino from the market, woo!  now to save up again for the other two dinos.... and maybe another chicken.

valentines '21 eggs just after midnight tonight! not sure if i'll be getting mine tonight then, or tomorrow morning.

Tomorrow is traditionally potato planting day. Not frozen taters day.

oh yeah.  our winter weather advisory (freezing rain and icing on the roads (no, not THAT icing!)) started at 1 this afternoon and goes through 10 tomorrow morning.  

younger daughter is scheduled to work tonight.  i've told her it's her call, but she doesn't want to call out, because she doesn't want to anger the manager that we all hate  i usually say i'll try to head in, but if i slip and fall on my butt on the way out to my car, i'm not even trying.  she says she wants to leave early, but it'll be raining and ice through like 9 tonight. if she leaves early, it'll be while it's still icy out there.

I'd rather have ice than icing. I don't like getting sticky.

 

If the roads have ice on them, she'll risking life, limb, and vehicle. Icy roads brings out the drivers who have courage, but not good sense. The ones that go sliding through intersections and onto medians and into ditches.

There's also the fun of having your vehicle doors freeze shut. 

 

On a lighter note: the band Three Dog Night is named for letting the dogs sleep in bed with you in order to keep warm.

yeah.... i get all that.

she says if she gets into an accident, we'll get it ALL fixed and send the district manager the bill.

(keep in mind - there's a LOT of other stuff that ought to be fixed as well.  it's a buggy Bug.)

she was out with a friend (the friends are in each other's bubbles, and they were just visiting another friend and they were outside) right before she had to leave for work, and the roads aren't icy right now.  she's hoping against hope that they'll close early tonight though.
