One better: inbred dragons are the royalty of your scroll and get to make the rules about what dragons can breed with what other dragons and can only breed with related inbred dragons.

Dragons can’t instantly breed. They have to take each other on dates, meet their families and get approval from the parents (if not cave born). They also refuse to let you abandon their eggs, and constantly show you bad sketches of their child.

Instead of getting lineageless dragons from the cave, you get eggs that have been bred from random wilderness dragons.

How about the reverse? You get paided $1 for every dragon you own ...but dead eggs/dragons require you to pay

yessss

and industrial dragons, modern dragons based on wifi/data, and dragons that are synthetically grown in a lab therefore creating sprites of previously existing dragons that just look better

All dragons will end up going through a rebellious phase when they become mature hatchlings. They end up 'locking themselves in their caves' (fogging themselves), changing their own names at will, and can sometimes run off of your scroll with no warning.
