The Island of Hope

Recommended Posts

The seasonal snorted a whiff of breath before she lifted Ashur onto her head and made her way back to the clearing, where she plopped the storm dragon down on the same tree as Tashrin. The dragoness then fetched a plum for Ashur and spotted the magi with a confused look on his face, holding the seed located in a plum. She enjoyed his curiosity and tenderly took the seed out the newborn's paws. "This is a seed, you cannot eat it. This is the beginnings of a new life." Sapphire found a spot in a clump of trees that had sunlight filtering in and dug her claws into the earthy soil, she then dropped the seed inside and softly patted the soil back over the seed.

Sniffing the plum, Ashur twisted it around once, twice, sniffed it again, arched one eyebrow, shoot if a few times, then poked it a few times, shook it again, sighed, and took a bite. The fruit was slightly tangy but overall sweet, very juicy and very delectable... were he omnivorous or herbivorous, that is...

As the plum went down Ashur's throat, it got between his teeth and stuck to the sides of his throat, causing it to constrict and he started to cough and choke. A few little coughs later, he barely swallowed and put down the plum, with a face depicting both confusion and disappointment.

He looked back at Sapphire with the same look, but before he even had a chance to look innocent, he picked up on a low rustle nearby. Movement... FOOD! Ashur scurried down the tree trunk, lead by his natural hunting instincts, and hopped into the nearby bush from where the sound had come. Digging into the earth, he uncovered a small mouse den. It had three mice in it, but he needed only one. With them cornered, he simply plucked one out, and snapped its little neck with a quick sharp bite to the throat.

Walking with satisfaction out of the bush, Ashur sat down by the tree and gobbled the mouse up like a snake would have, in mere seconds. That done, he climbed back up to where the Seasonal had left him and lied down on his branch, not before burping ever so quietly. He grinned mildly, showing his razor-sharp teeth, intended for rending flesh, not mashing vegetation.

((Cute...))

Sapphire twitched a little bit as she watched the newborn dragon make quick time hunting as well as eating the mouse. Never before had she seen such a young dragon actually devour meat either. She left Ashur to his own devices an venture deeper into the clearing to find materials for the two hatchlings' nests. The dragoness was able to quickly make a strong nest frame for one of the two, she then started tying the nest to an old, barren, but sturdy lemon tree. Before long, the nest was big and strong enough to support a medium sized adult dragon.

((Oh, come on now... LLD's covering cute. Someone has to balance things out. xd.png))

Nipping his ungrown claws, Ashur looked over his left. it didn't look so well.

It was a slightly green hue at the tips and pale everywhere else up to ankle-level.

It did not feel weaker or seem smaller though.

Shrugging that aside, he glanced over towards the other hatching on the tree.

He didn't look like the adventurous type... a real pity. For a moment, he felt like he wanted to talk to the hatchling, but had no idea how to... Sighing in frustration, the grey curled up and waited for something to happen.

Slowly, Sapphire crept up on a few rabbits and swiftly broke their nests. She then picked them up and threw them into the new nest, she then grabbed a few vines that had been blown into the clearing and flew up to the nest. As she tied the rabbits to the side of the unfinished nest, Sapphire thought of the times she had used the technique before to avoid getting dirt on her prey via covering them in dirt and to prevent other animals that wanted the food. Once the rabbits were tied, Sapphire then lined the nest with palms from the Origin Forest she had found stuck in the lemon tree and then covered the nest in lichen to make it more comfortable. After the nest was complete, the dragoness approached Ashur, "Would you like to see you new nest little one?"

Tilting his head to one side, Ashur was confused to no end... He did not understand what the Seasonal was trying to say, but whatever it was, her intentions couldn't be bad...

Chirping in agreement, the grey scampered down the tree trunk and sat down by the seasonal, waiting to be lead to wherever it was.

For a moment, he listened in for the sounds of more mice, trying to remember where to return, if ever he needed to hunt soon. There were no such sounds, sadly.

((Orly? Cool.))

Sapphire nudged Ashur over to the lemon tree, it had branches that could be used as steps over to the nest, it was also in view of Sapphire's tree. The dragon then patiently waited for Ashur to figure out how to get up to his nest, she figured it wouldn't take long, for there were three plump rabbits up in his nest.

Tashrin at first din't want to let go of the seed but then she spoke again seemingly trying to explain something. He tried to listen with big green eye's. He watched her bury the seed then looked at the tree's. What was it called? Seed..... large brown things getting bigger from brown stuff. Seed turn into this? he wondered trying to connect the dots.

Later when the gray one returned he looked at him then the other looked disappointed for some odd reason it did not bother him. He was to busy watching all that was going on.

Looking over at the tree, then back at the seasonal, then the tree, then the seasonal, Ashur tilted his head to one side, confused once more. He spun around in place and chirped twice... trying to ask what the hell he was supposed to do...

The wiff of more prey hit his nose, though, and from the most unexpected of places too. Clawing his way up the tree, Ashur found his little nest and settled in. He was already fed, so the rabbits, despite a nice surprise, were to be saved for later... he curled up, and remained still.

((I gotta go guys. Cya laters))

Tashrin was still looking around wide eye'd. He went a bit to far forward and almost fell out. His tail and hind foot had caught a branch and he was dangling from it. He let out a long Squeak thinking he's going to fall. He heard chirps but that was it and the chirps where not from mom. He considered Sapphire his mom cause she was first being he saw.

((Bye))

Content by Ashur's contentment over his nest, Sapphire walked over to Tashrin, and patted his little head before she started to make the magi dragon's nest. After making a large and stable frame, the dragoness decided to take a break and get some food. She flew up to Tashrin and slowly said "Stay here little one, I am going to go hunting" she wrapped her tail around the hatchling to signal that the hatchling should stay in the clearing.

Sapphire then turned into a winter seasonal and flew over to the Sleeping Forest, she had a fiery look in her eyes as she spotted a large buck. She circled the animal in a fast fashion, spooking the dear as well as confusing it, it attempted to charge several times, not knowing which way to go. The hatchling was having her fun with the dear. In a blast of energy, Sapphire let out some of her power and froze the buck's hind legs, it stood up on its hind feet and tried to get the ice to chip. With a menacing look on her face, Sapphire then went in for the kill, she crept closer, closer, and then in a flash of blue, she had the dear clamped firmly in her jaws.

Tashrin realized he was not about to fall and slowly climbed back in. when mom came and patted his head he nodded "O-o-ok" he attempted to say but it only really sounded like a bunch of squeaks right now. He looked around where he was and curled up and waited. He spotted a ant on the tree bark and watched it with wide eye's again he pawed at it and it ran away. He spotted another one and pawed at it and it ran away. then he spotted a spider and pawed at it. It went onto his paw and then sat there. Tashrin looked at it on his paw with wide eye's.

After devouring the dear and burying its bones, Sapphire flew back to the clearing of fruit trees and continued her work on the nest for Tashrin. She eventually got the nest into an orange tree and it was snugly fit into two branches under partial shade. The nest was then lined with soft leaves and moss and two baskets were tied to the side of the nest and filled with plums and pears, two soft fruits. The tree the nest was located in was right nest to Ashur's and Sapphire had a clear view of it from her own. It was also located in a winding tree that had plenty of claw holes for the dragon to climb.

Tashrin was still watching the spider with wide eye's when it started moving again. It ran down his for arm and Tashrin moved a bit and that scared the spider this time and it bit. In a flash Tashrin was up and the spider was dead. Tashrin made a hurt noise and nosed where it had bitten him. His scales had yet to come so the bite was right on the skin. It was itchy already so he due to not knowing better scratched it and he felt a bit better. The bite was on his chest.

((Ya can decide how deadly the bite is.))

The hatchling tossed and turned in it's egg occasionally, but it was calm for the most part. In the Underground Cave, the Daydream egg floated in the air, supported by a cloud that was slightly pink in color. The daydream liked the sensation of floating; it was calming to it.

A shriek echoed over to the area Sapphire was finishing up the nest, she rushed over to the magi dragon and immediately spotted the nasty spider on the hatchling's leg. Memories of a guardian dragon rushed through Sapphire's head, without thinking, she flew at an incredible speed to the Magi Garden, carefully picked a few round leaves from a bush of herbs that grew in the underwater section of the garden and flew back, she didn't even think twice about the actions she was making, everything came instinctively. Within moments, Sapphire had chewed up a poultice from the round leaves and she had walked up to Tashrin and applied the herbs to his front leg.

Before she could even rest, an aura of another presence entered Sapphire's mind, she walked over to the Underground Cave and picked up a daydream egg, it gave off a cool and calm essence as it floated on a cloud. She set the egg down in her nest next to the small egg and the one with blue swirls before returning her attention to Tashrin.

The developing hatchling was content with being in the air of the Underground Cave. So it stayed still, gently swaying on the cloud. It was curious to see what was outside of the confines of her shell. Surely there was something beyond this tiny space.

It couldn't see why it couldn't leave the egg. The daydream grew more restless. It readied itself to burst out. Steadily, the hatchling kept tapping a place in the shell for it to make the first crack. A tiny chip came out. It kept tapping at the same place, only harder. More small chips flew out.

Tashrin froze as mom scrambled to treat the bite. Then she took off and came back with another egg. He then looked at the bite with the treatment on it. {Don't be bitten by creature with 8 legs} he thought or thought something like that. Then he heard cracking and looked down again. The new egg was cracking. He watched this with wide eye's.

The egg rolled on it's cloud as it was picked up and put down. The hatchling inside briefly stopped it's tapping to try feel it's surroundings through her eggshell. It bumped against two other things. Other? She thought. Eh, back to tapping. The egg floated upwards again, and stopped, hovering.

Tap,tap, tap. Bits of egg flew out and dropped down. Some landed near Tashrin.

Tashrin's eye's just got bigger as the egg began to float as this was happening. when some of the egg shell landed by him he jumped back a bit then slowly got close and sniffed them. They reminded him of his egg only these where a different color. He looked back at the still floating cracking egg with wide eye's.

((It's a page of RP...))

((Nothing too special, Kyitei (who hasn't actually been named yet) is still in an egg located in Sapphire's nest, Durppie's daydream dragon (who hasn't been named yet, but will be called Nexote) is starting to break out of her egg (which is also located in Sapphire's nest, next to Kyitei's egg and Sparrow's (not named yet either)egg.) Also, Sapphire made Kyitei's nest on a young apple tree. The nest is towards the bottom and in the shade.))

Judging from the bite on the magi dragon's front leg, the spider had not been awfully deadly, Sapphire relaxed and decided to work on the nest for the daydream egg, for the hatchling inside was already trying to break free. After the first hurricane, she raised a total of three daydream dragons, she know exactly how big one could grow, and how they would want their nest. Considering daydream dragons' clouds made for a good nest already, Sapphire decided that she would just make an area for the hatchling to live comfortably. She found an idea spot in a large peach tree, there was a nice pocket in the tree that almost mimicked a cave, all the dragoness had to do was weave vines in between the branches so that the hatchling wouldn't be able to fall through. The finished product was an area in the tree that was a flat area for resting, and natural shade provided by the trees, Sapphire even took the liberty of making to selves by carving out parts of the tree, it was almost like a green cave. When the daydream grew up, the 'nest' would still be a bit spacey and it was just above the little apple tree that held the tiny egg's future nest.

((I swear I am taking facts about the island straight from the original))

Tashrin's leg was feeling better though a bit itchy still. He itched it again. He sighed starting to feel a bit tired. He let out a few squeaks trying to say he's tired. the squeaks where slowly turning into sounds. He looked at Sapphire and blinked his eye's in a tired manner hoping she knew what he met.

The hatchling sensed progress in its task being made. Encouraged, it punched through the shell, letting a front paw come out of a hole on the egg. It continued whacking away at the eggshell, sending larger egg bits flying. Then, it jumped out into the air. The cloud supporting the broken eggshell went to cushion the newborn hatchling.

Nexote was floating in the air, with a pink cloud under her. She stared down at the

Magi hatchling and Seasonal hatchling curiously, and floated down to join them. Who were they?

Tashrin turned to look at Sapphire and gave her a yawning noise, the dragoness walked over and picked the little magi dragon up and flew up to Tashrin's nest and curled the hatchling up in the mossy nest. She switched into a summer dragon and let out energy, giving out a wave of non-damaging heat and getting rid of any dangerous power she had stored. Sapphire sighed at this fact, she now could use the energy she had to use for storing her power for other tasks.

As Sapphire gently glided down to the ground, the daydream dragon hatched and floated in front of her, "Why hello there young hatchling, you shall be called Nexote, I've met very many of you own kind, my you live in the prosperity of this island" She wrapped her tail around the head in a sort of greeting and then flew up to her nest to grab a plum for the newborn.
