Posted February 8, 2011 Welcome to the Crochet, Knitting and over all Needlework thread! We all know needlework can be addicting, time consuming and frustrating beyond belief... but it can also be rewarding, relaxing, and joyful when it all comes out right . This is a place to talk about our obsessions, annoyances, successes and everything in between. In here will be talk of: Yarns (Oh, glorious yarn) Techniques Encouragement (Need that push to finish the darn thing?) Patterns Ideas Successes (Show us!) Failures (Getting 20 rows up and then giving up.) Questions (Please be patient, maybe no one else knows either) A Few Rules: 1. Do not ask someone to make something for you. 2. Do not try to sell your work in here. 3. Showing off your work: Links only. No Images Please. It's hard for people with slow computers to load the page when there are pictures. 4. Patterns: Make sure the pattern you are posting is free and not something that was paid for. We could get in trouble for stealing copyrighted stuff. Posted February 8, 2011 (edited) Spread the joy! Previous Banner was too big, I made another one. Posted February 8, 2011 YAY!! A support group. (She said, cursing at the afghan that eats up all the yarn.) Thanks for getting this off the ground, Kanaye, and here's to a lot of blood, sweat, tears, and cheering! Share this post Link to post

Posted February 8, 2011 *returns the toast, then sticks another skein on the spinning yule* Made by Mr. BD, of course. That old spice rack sees more action as a skein spinner than it ever did as a spice rack. Share this post Link to post
Posted February 8, 2011 Yay! I crochet and knit, in that order. I have a blanket going right now that I hope to finish in time to move into the dorm. Share this post Link to post
Posted February 8, 2011 Ah, Welcome Klinneah. Is the blanket in crochet? I keep trying to teach myself to knit. It isn't going do well. I can knit ok, but I can't purl. Most of the problem is that my mother taught me left handed knitting. Share this post Link to post
Posted February 8, 2011 I've just- literally within the past 24 hours- started to learn to crochet. I'm at a serious disadvantage because my teacher is right handed, where I am left handed... I'm only able to do the basic chain stitch right now I also intend to learn to knit, and one day, make a replica of the 4th Doctor's scarf. Colors, length and all Share this post Link to post
Posted February 8, 2011 (edited) Hi, Klinneah! Glad we have yet another yarn addict to cry to. And Dr. Paine! I'm also left-handed, and I"m teaching myself, using a very good guide. So if you get stuck, just holler, and I'll come running. Edited February 8, 2011 by blackdragon71 Share this post Link to post
Posted February 8, 2011 The blanket? One big crochet granny square. I'm also left-handed, but I learned to crochet and knit right-handed. It's easy, once you get the hang of it. Share this post Link to post
Posted February 8, 2011 (edited) -waves knitting hook- I have made about 3 hats and a scarf so far, but none except one have came out perfect. One strangely came apart at the top and one has a little hole in it. And the scarf was all in between. Edited February 8, 2011 by rainpeltstar Share this post Link to post
Posted February 9, 2011 If I had fewer interruptions, I bet I could get this blankie for Mr. BD done before March. As it stands, I won't. :| Share this post Link to post
Posted February 9, 2011 I'm actually making my very first ever sweater, but it is too short. I'm attempting to extend it... not going so well. I have front, back, both sleeves and cowl. All together. Lets just say, if I had made the front and back the proper length, all I would have to do is add about 3 inches of cuff on both sleeves and I'd be done. I'm going to see my friend's grandmother tomorrow, hopefully she can help me figure it out. Share this post Link to post

Posted February 9, 2011 Yarn, glorious yarrn! *has a yarn addiction almost as bad as her book addiction* Share this post Link to post
Posted February 9, 2011 Well my scarf has no protection against the wind, that's for sure. I can only knit scarves and hats. Share this post Link to post
Posted February 9, 2011 Knitter here. I've been knitting for a couple of years and I actually taught my mother to knit rather than the other way around! I've done scarves, hats, the occasional socks, and this Christmas I knitted a platypus shaped hot water bottle cover for a gift. Anyone here on Ravelry? It's a great site knitting and crochet site, free but requires you to sign-up, and they have tons of patterns, yarn info, and help forums. http://www.ravelry.com/ Share this post Link to post
Posted February 10, 2011 -chuckle- I couldn't knit if I tried. I'm interested, and I can FINGER knit, so I shall be stalking. Share this post Link to post
Posted February 10, 2011 I'm on Ravelry. I actually used a Moebius Cowl pattern there. If you wanna look me up, I'm Kanaye44. I should post some of my work here. I can't post the Moebius, cause foolishly, I never took a pic. Hmm, which photo shall I chose? And I have to be sure to follow my own rule and post a link instead of a pic. http://tinypic.com/r/sc3o5s/4 The top half is over the chair, but it looks exactly like the bottom. It's 4½ feet tall. Posted February 10, 2011 Kanaye, that looks like the blanket I'm making, except mine is white, yellow, and green. Share this post Link to post
Posted February 13, 2011 Very cool color choices. Granny Square blankets are so easy. I actually modified the pattern I had and made it so the top and the bottom were worked back and forth a bunch of rows, so it was more longer than wide. I'm actually working on a teal And black one. I'm 16 rows up. Share this post Link to post
Posted February 13, 2011 Plan: To have the first 2ft. of Mr. BD's blanket done tonight. Outcome: To Be Continued... Share this post Link to post
