Nov 23rd 2023 update: Most of the eggshells have disappeared now.

So, last night on the 7th of November, Halloween eggs died in droves in the AP because there were just too many of them, despite everyone's best efforts.

I made this thread to commemorate them since the shells disappear forever after two weeks. 

 

Feel free to post:

-Links to your dead Halloween egg

-Links to any of your survivors 

-Where you were when it happened.

-Anything relating to what happened on the 7th in general 

I'll be keeping track of them in a spreadsheet 

(please tell me if you want your code removed or is okay with your survivors being added to the page. ) Then we can send them off on the 21st.

 

In addition, I would like to take screenshots of the lineages / recreate them and save them to a photobucket/ google drive (with permission) for everybody if that's allowed since I'm not sure about the rules on this.

The lag, lag was so bad.  Even crashed The Hatchling Club, owner thought the site was under attack.  I was using all the hatchling sites and they were barely loading.  Thought I would be clever and put all the egg shells in a group but seems you can't make a group for the deceased.  I was able to hatch many despite the difficulties but here are the ones that I couldn't save, some just landed on my scroll and I wasn't able to get them in a hatchery before they died.  One even turned neglected before dying, purely by chance.

i did save 2 hatchies and toss them back to the ap, as well as successfully neglecting and hatching one. after that the lag was too bad to continue

All died I think. If they go to wild the progeny's page would have record, if disappear=died. But need the last minutes breeders to confirm.

Yes, I can confirm they died. Some of them were saved and hatched and others became neglected dragons if they managed to get picked up and blasted with views fast enough. For example: https://dragcave.net/progeny/dEy3l

What was an oops breeding with a single survivor in the clutch whose owner's scroll is littered with dozens of Halloween eggs that died on November 7th. 

In 2022, the eggs started hatching while they were still in the AP and some of abandoned hatchlings behind the wall died.

when i woke up that morning & saw the AP eggs at 8h, i just started bailing as many out as i could. wound up with 4 open slots after a couple of my own eggs hatched, so anytime i had a minute at work i'd grab 4, hatch, release, & grab 4 more. i wish i'd kept count, i think i may have gotten close to 50! but by the end of the day i didn't have the time to continue, & it got to the point where they would die as soon as i picked them up, like that poor caligene.

Thanks for that post, PrincessLucy. I tried, but wasn't able to save 64  I did save at least triple that before they started dying. Of the twenty I personally bred 45 minutes before the end, only FOUR hatched,  one was by me as I caught my own egg.  Three survived, and the fourth was a Neglected, but didn't survive.  It's gonna take forever to list all those 64 dead ones.....  can I just post screenshots of them?

DC was lagging so hard for me at the very end there that I couldn't help the remaining eggs fast enough. They died in my hands. 😢 Oddly, I don't know if this was a glitch or not but I got the text message "You cannot name this dragon because it is dead." Obviously I wasn't trying to name the egg-- that option isn't even available for an egg!

I had 3 survivors but rehomed them and don't know (or have permission to share) their codes. 

 

I also had been hatching and releasing since November 4th because the times were making me nervous but it wasn't enough. There were some of us putting them in the AR just to hatch them and putting AP codes into ERs in an effort to save them once they were under 1hr.

Hatchlings can grow up wild if they have enough views.
