my advice is to work on one section at a time and cut it before moving to the next, it really helps avoiding this kind of problem.
i'm still working on my last pumpkin , i can't go past a score of 107 😭

I'm having some trouble getting golds too. "On the line" advice seems to be consistent with the golds I've managed. If you find free-hand tracing too difficult: click once, then move to another spot and click again. this will make a straight line to the second location.

In the meantime, I've been relaxing with the free pumpkins. Much easier

Oh no I just had an egg die upon pick up, I'm seeing a lot of neglected eggs in clicksites

how many left do you need? there is still enough time for at least 11 more treats if your lucky, but good job on being persistant, you can collect the rest next year
and you won't have to work hard for it
