Posted June 20, 2019 It shouldn't be LARGE amounts of time if enough descrip mods are appointed; once the queue is reduced. I think Guillotine has the measure of it - it IS easy to game these things. Share this post Link to post
Posted June 20, 2019 (edited) If it's automated, you won't need to moderate it. A filter for inappropriate language/code/links has already been suggested. If something objectionable DOES come up that is actually HARMFUL--not just "this writer is obviously 13 and i think their description is dumb" it can be reported and dealt with from there. Posted June 21, 2019 my opinion - and my last word on this subject. In the past, no matter how long the queue did get, by concentrating on the descriptions and doing a lot of extra work, the moderators were able to clean up the queue. With description mods that extra effort would never be necessary once the present queue is cleaned up. I don't know how many descriptions are written daily, but I'm sure a few mods concentrating on them would keep the queue cleared. Share this post Link to post
Posted June 21, 2019 It would still mean lots of effort for some people - and probably even more once players realize they'll have their descriptions approved in a timely manner and write more of them. Share this post Link to post
Posted June 22, 2019 I've thought about reviving Descripdoom, because that worked really well, but I just haven't had the time between work and personal life to devote one day to it, even on the weekends. I would like to bring it back, though, it would make a difference, and we could organize on Discord now that DC's there. It wouldn't solve the problem, but if we scheduled this on a regular basis, like once a month for two days, I think it would help. Share this post Link to post

Extremely incorrect, for a wide variety of reasons including but not limited to: false positives (remember when Nintendo's automated profanity filter caught one of the actual names of a Pokemon?), false negatives (you can be horrifically racist without ever tripping a filter, for one), catching non-English languages, and more. Posted July 1, 2019 (edited) Filters do pick up stuff that IS harmless. I once wanted to name a dragon The Pen Is Mightier. Nope. (It may have been fixed, as I did complain at the time.) ETA No it hasn't been: The name you entered contains inappropriate words and cannot be used. And there was a thread here where we were talking about places we had visited, and someone had been to a village in France caller Bit-che (I had to add a hyphen there...); there's another called Boucheporn which was filtered out then, but seems OK now.. Posted July 3, 2019 Just coming back with my usual whine - I REALLY hate having my descriptions changed to US spelling when they are approved; they end up not looking like anything I had written. Is it really necessary, if there is no other spelling error ? (Or do I just need to avoid all words that Americans spell differently ?) Share this post Link to post

Might have been an error on my part, I will admit to not always knowing the other way to spell things. I'll fix small spelling errors but I don't change these (again, unless I flubbed up). Posted July 4, 2019 aiiii I just want to complain that a zombie hatchling i described YEARS ago still hasn't been approved... no rejection, no reviews at all, still waiting for a mod to approve... YEARS, I don't know know how many. I stopped playing in 2015 and have only just come back in the last couple months... this is ridiculous... It's a perfectly acceptable description for a zombie too. I emptied the waiting descriptions late last year, so as far as I know that's... not possible. PM me your scroll name and I'll see if I can find it. Share this post Link to post

You do know that you can't see zombie descriptions, even your own, when the sprite is a tombstone. You need to go to actions to see it. Share this post Link to post
