Next, I would like to remind everyone that when suggesting a new breed, keep in mind it must be found in the AP often. Yes, they may be common in the caves and/or common around the threads. However we need to make sure that they are found in the AP as well. Due to the growing list of breeds to be added, we will go through the eligible list and the suggestions and rule out any choices we deem unfit.

Is there a way to un-suggest breeds on the adding list?

I'd love to see some of the suggestions removed. Especially Two-Headed/Splits: They were suggested for adding only because someone did a mass-breeding of their Splits shortly after we removed Splits from our eligible list...

I did a quick count of members of TEP (I stopped counting after 50 but am unsure how many are regularly releasing and viewing the thread). Because of that I think bumping it up to 10 would be a good number. It may slow down the process drastically.

 

Another suggestion that might help is a cool-down period. If a dragon has been voted in or kicked off recently it can't have its status changed for a one-two month period?

 

These things may help with the back and forth we've recently seen.

That sounds like a good solution to me, gypsy. I think changes should be kept to a minimum, in all honesty, little changes in the AP that's for sure.

 

For example, uber-common Pyralspite Pyropes, such a disappointment to those who were hoping for a different "polished stone", are still not frequent in the AP. And you almost never see Blue-Bandeds, Carmines and Cassares in the AP, but seem to be to choked by them in the Cave. All the time that's gone past since they were released, I would have thought was enough for them to settle into a frequency.

We have around 80 members and a quarter of them have zero points. Should we kick those that had joined in more than a month ago? They can always come back anyways.

 

While 10 may slow down the process, not many vote actively. Look at the to banish list. All of those breeds are rarely spotted in the AP (glares at pygmies) and have 4 votes each. Yet, no one else has given them another push into oblivion. Sooo... it's going to take even longer. Now look at the to recruit list. Those suggested due to mass-breeding didn't get much support. Others, I see them once or twice every 3/4 sets of 30 ap eggs. So I don't know why they are there either.

 

If you really want to raise the bar, I suggest 7...? But I'm just going to kick them out again

Olives wall quite easily so I don't want to kick those off, and I'm ambivalent about Skywings. I don't agree with any of the suggested recruits. My thinking is that the eligible breeds should be ones which could make up a row on their own occasionally (the info posts aren't very decisive on that) - I never see more than maybe 3 of the current suggestions at a time.

 

Could we maybe introduce down-voting of currently suggested breeds, so if there's not actual consensus they never make it in?

@Asursrus- We are trying to slow down the back and forth. And here you come scroll waving all willy-nilly wanting to vote and banish all the time. We are trying to reduce the back and forth, not make it a contact changing list where people can't keep track of it.

 

I don't think any zero points members should be removed because I don't really see a point to it. There are no strict requirements on what you need to do to stay active- the end goal is just to hatch and release "common" eggs in the AP. The more people releasing, the better. I think making them join again would be a bit of a nuisance without a benefit.

 

But thank you for counting how many we have that do not appear to be active. At first it made me want to reconsider how many votes something would need but counting just on this page of the thread I see 9 people posting, so it's possible to get 10 votes for an add/removal, I think.

 

All in all I think we need to do more banishing than adding.

I think people would be more eager to participate in this project if the reward system was organized better. I don't read the thread aside from the general rules, so maybe this has been mentioned before and/or exists, sorry if so. :/

I have two ideas on how to improve this:

One is a separate post mentioning whose looking for what award at the given moment (as in, not just posting in the thread where it can get buried easily.) Like, I'd love to give out prizes but I have literally no idea if anyone is looking for anything right now, and I just don't have the time to go through the whole thread to check. A post a list members' usernames and their request (plus optionally a PM link) would be easy to look through, and thus making it much more likely their request will be granted.

Second suggestion is a post of things people are willing to catch/breed as prizes. For example, I'd be willing to breed 3G prizes, and lineages with spriter's alts/prizefails, others may be willing to catch uncommons such as blusangs or unbreedables, just to name a few. If we could have a pretty list of something like that, I'm sure it would make it far more tempting for others to participate.

Atm the prizes are very vague (lineages aren't mentioned aside from prize dragons, and with the amount of them circling around 6gs are dirt cheap), and it's never mentioned if the other dragons will be inbred/messy. It's easier to spend some time looking through the AP/Community Departures Board or request on gifting threads such as Breeding/Gifting than to wait for a prize with an unknown lineage on here.

 

Ooh and as an additional side note, maybe we could make the fact that we have prizes a little more prominent, to tempt people into joining. What I mean by this is, either swap the post about prizes with the member post (as it's really more of an administrative post, people that are considering joining don't really care imo), or make the fact stand out more (like with pretty colors). I'm sure more people would participate if they knew about the wonderful prizes that await them :]

In my experience there's never been more than one person requesting a reward at a time and it's rarely taken more than a page or two to find it - a list at the front wouldn't really achieve much. Maybe currently sought rewards are listed in update posts, but if not I think they should be since everyone should read those.

 

It says non-Tinsel/Shimmer rewards must even gen and purebred or CB in the rules. You can specify generation preference and I'm sure you could specify non-inbred.
