Posted October 23, 2015 I'm planning on expanding the site theme to include much more than caterpillars and the set up and storyline will likely change as well. Cool i can't wait to see what the new critters will be. Share this post Link to post
Posted November 22, 2015 Hello! I just wanted to drop in to say that the complicated lore is passing along fine for now. Share this post Link to post
Posted December 13, 2015 Hi! I know it's been a while, but I've been thinking about the setting for the site and will be getting back to this as soon as I sort out a bit of a personal mess. Thanks for your patience, guys. Share this post Link to post

Posted December 18, 2015 Hey guys! What do you think if I made some tweaks to the skill system? I was thinking about adding a maximum possible skill gain for pets. Adopted pets will have a max gain generated at random from a set range. On the other hand, bred pets will inherit 1.2*the average of the parents' max skills and about 10% of the parents' existing skills. Thoughts? Share this post Link to post
Posted December 18, 2015 Having not fought or raced my fuzzies in this game I am not sure what the skills would do. I plan on creating some sort of competition or reward system. Because of the site's small userbase, it probably won't be pvp. I was thinking that pets could be given a set amount of energy that can be used as they enter comps or train. Pets can enter competitions that reward money or pets. The chance of winning will be based on a pet's skills. :3 Share this post Link to post
Posted December 19, 2015 Having not used the training field or track I don't really know about all this. Share this post Link to post

Posted January 18, 2016 (edited) Hmm? Messenger, did you see the last news to be posted on Caterpillar Cave (the old site)? The disappearance of the site is linked to a deep-rooted issue that's been nibbling away at all progress since Caterpillar Cave was started in 2011. CC has been suffering from intense growing pains that were magnified by inexperienced management on my part. Since the site idea was first introduced to the world, it's undergone 3 domain changes, 4 art style changes, and constant coding. Because progress was being made so rapidly, I overlooked the basic infrastructure elements, leading the site to nearly collapse under it's own weight. The reason? Around the time CC's dragon cave thread was created, I thought that the site was done and ready for testing. However, I kept improving my skills and applying new abilities to the site. But because the user base had already become so big, I was too afraid to make major changes that would upset operations. It was only recently, after another 5 years, that I realized: those delayed changes need to happen now. I can't update every single pet species on the site... that kind of ability is not mine. The only option left for me was to reduce the number of species... and pets on the site. I remember posting an official news notice on the site... which was left empty for many days. CC's issue is that while the userbase exists, most of it... is quite dead. Manyof my users are not there for me to report to. Now, I have this challenge: How am I going to repair the site while simultaneously transferring user assets? This is a desperate attempt to revive the site. I want to get rid of the problems that have been hindering everything. Some mistakes are fatal. However, if there is still enough time for Caterpillar Cave, I want to set things right. No, I must have missed it. I've been very busy lately, so I haven't visited it recently. Thank you for the information, and I'm wishing you luck. Share this post Link to post
Posted January 18, 2016 No, I must have missed it. I've been very busy lately, so I haven't visited it recently. Thank you for the information, and I'm wishing you luck. Thank you for your understanding. I'm very pleased with progress now that things are proceeding as they should. I'll be updating this thread when I have more information and am closer to completing this project. Share this post Link to post
Posted March 18, 2016 (edited) Well, it's been a while. And I'm very happy to say that stuff may finally be underway. For those who are still there and curious... Here's a watered-down presentation on the grand project. I think it's safe to say that most of the main features/coding are complete. The rest is decorating, drawing, and writing. The site will soon be ready for a first round of testing. When this time comes, we'll have a new thread. Enjoy! Edited March 18, 2016 by Wallie987 Share this post Link to post

Posted March 20, 2016 This sounds very interesting. (I hope the mice stay! ) I've been thinking about a new custom system... it might be very interesting. All users will receive one copy of their custom. However, this custom can be bred for a chance of creating more which you can trade with others. As for mice, there are two options: 1. You can draw your own images. If you want to do this, I need 4 images: fuzzy egg, baby, png adult image, gif adult image. I will explain further if needed. 2. Since I drew the original mice, I can try to draw them again. Share this post Link to post
