Posted August 6, 2010 (edited) THE FIFTH ELEMENT LINEAGE DESCRIPTION This lineage is based on the 1997 movie 'The Fifth Element'. The movie uses the 4 elements (earth, wind, fire, water) combined with a 5th (divine light/life/love) to save the world from great evil. We collect dragons from breeds associated with any of these 5 elements. Whether you just collect them or breed certain patterns, or what you breed is left to the individual player. There are certain milestones you can work up to, but you don't have to (and if you do, you can freely choose which ones you like). Generally, we're a very friendly, maybe slightly crazy group of people, and we always welcome newcomers. LINKS - Chat - Website (contains Spreadsheet Guide, Timeline, News and much more!) - Mastersheet - Milestone Mastersheet HOW TO PARTICIPATE => Joining <= Please fill out this registration form and post your info in this thread to become a member: New Member FORUM NAME: SCROLL NAME: TIME ZONE: New Member FORUM NAME: SCROLL NAME: TIME ZONE: Then we’ll send you a PM with a link to a spreadsheet where you can register your elemental dragons. => Registering Dragons <= There are 3 ways to find dragons to register: Option 1 - Pick up an eligible caveborn egg, raise it and give it an Elemental name. Option 2 - Pick up an abandoned egg, research the lineage. If it's eligible, raise it and give it an Elemental name. Option 3 - Research your current scroll, find eligible dragons and give them Elemental names. Once you have adult Elementally named dragons, you can register them easily on the registration form we send you, which automatically saves them on the spreadsheet. RULES 1. To qualify for this lineage project, a dragon must either be a CB of an accepted breed or have ONLY accepted breeds in its lineage. If you have any questions about whether or not a dragon is eligible, let us know and we'll check for you. (See next post for a list of accepted breeds.) 2. Please include some form of 'element' in the name of all dragons you want to register. Due to limited character space, you may also use '5E' in the name instead of 'element'. 3. Please no inbreeding, freezing, or killing. Only adult dragons can be elementals! 4. Be willing to register your elemental dragons, report on elementals you're willing to breed, and take requests for eggs when your scroll permits. 5. Please do not trade milestone gifts away. 6. Milestone gifts are awarded according to the list at the time. As new members join and the ratios in the cave shift, the goals and rewards may change. In that case, there will be ample warning and opportunity to discuss. TERMINOLOGY 1. 'Eligible dragon' is one that does not already carry an elemental name but meets the requirement to become an elemental dragon. 2. 'Element'/'Elemental'/'5E' refers to a dragon that DOES contain the name. 3. 'Leeloo' is another name for an even generation dragon where every CB dragon is a different breed (otherwise also known as Gaia lineages). We have several Leeloo milestones. Thanks to Xocowolf for the naming idea! 4. 'Milestones' are goals we have come up with to help you earn gifts for participating. They are completely optional and not required of members in the lineage. There is a list of what you can earn further down on this page. 5. 'Full Circle' refers to the date this lineage started, April 4 2009. If a dragon was bred, stolen, hatched, or matured on April 4 of any year, it may include 'Full Circle' in its name. 6. 'Grandfather' - you can request to be grandfathered in for a Milestone if you're close to the original goal and want to be able to earn the original gift before the Milestone requirements change. 7. 'Trade Bait / Trade Fodder' - eggs or hatchies (not necessarily elemental) offered up for trade to the DC community at large in order to gain new elemental eggs for the lineage. 8. ’Shiny Drawings’ – These happen when members decide to donate rares to the thread which are currently not needed as milestones. Any member who has been active (on the thread and/or registering dragons) for at least 2 months can join. All members can offer rare eggs/hatchlings, but you don’t have to donate in order to participate. After a few days of signing up and offering, the organizer collects links to all shinies offered and draws numbers to determine in which order participants can claim things. MEMBERS A list of all 5E members can be found here on the Mastersheet. For example, a stone dragon is made of stone-like material AND eats rocks. Green dragons live within the caves AND have control over the earth. FIRE - Dragons who control or are comprised of fire or electricity. Also those that resemble fire or the sun or which are controlled by or strongly tied to the sun. For example, magma dragons are coated in magma, live in volcanic regions AND are capable of withstanding intense temperatures. Sunsongs control light AND are controlled by the light. LIFE - Dragons who rely on or are affected by a very specific part of nature, which must be different than the majority of other breeds. Dragons who possess mana pertaining to magical, mental or spiritual control or consisting of magic in a way that is different from other breeds, or having a significant positive role in the world that is different from other breeds, or having a significant effect on a very specific part of nature, which must be different than the majority of other breeds, including both positive and negative effects. For example, a qualifier can not be that the dragon depends on living in the trees alone. But Pumpkin dragons would qualify because they live specifically in pumpkins AND can only be bred during Harvest time. WATER - Dragons who control or are comprised of water in either its liquid or solid state. Also those that live the entirety of their lives in the water. For example, ice dragons form icicles on their skin, and can freeze a predator with their cold breath. WIND - Dragons comprised of gas or with a strong connection to weather or the cosmos. POSSIBLY those that spend a majority of their time in the air. For example, grey dragons land only to rest and eat AND they have control of the weather. Thunder dragons land only to sleep and breed. They get moisture from the clouds and control the weather. ADDING NEW BREEDS When new breeds are released, the active members of the lineage decide whether to accept them into the lineage (after TJ's dragons grow up). All members are welcome to argue why (and in which category) they think a new breed should or shouldn't be included, and to bring additional information from the spriters and/or conceptors to the discussion. To be accepted, a new breed should have at least 3 different aspects relating them to the element in question. It also needs to win 75% of the votes. Fearful leader has the right to veto any breed. Once a breed has been accepted into the lineage, it may later change categories, but it will not be excluded again, so we try to be picky about what we accept. Whenever we're voting on a new breed, members can also nominate previously rejected breeds for a new discussion and a new vote. Subspecies are accepted as individual breeds if they have different egg sprites or different adult descriptions, or both. Here is a guide how to add new breeds to your spreadsheet. Posted August 6, 2010 (edited) MILESTONES Milestone gifts are a system to reward members for active participation. Basically, whenever a member reaches a certain achievement, they can post about it and get nice 5E eligible dragons as rewards. The more difficult the achievement, the rarer the reward can be. We give rewards for different kinds of achievements: registering a certain number of dragons, or breeding dragons of certain lineages. You are *not* bound to doing only what we give rewards for. But sadly, we are not able to reward every kind of project you can do. Don't worry if this looks complicated. You do not have to understand or even read this at first! You can register dragons and worry about milestones later (or not at all, if you don't want to). A list of all the milestone gifts you can earn is in the next post. Open and gifted milestones are tracked in the Milestone Mastersheet. MILESTONE FORMS Please use this form to request milestones: Milestone Earned! Posted August 6, 2010 (edited) FULL MILESTONE LIST Link: Milestone Cheat Sheet - this is a shortened overview of the available Milestones. However, the full and official reference is always this post here. General Milestone Rules: (1) The counting of Elemental generations starts with the oldest dragon in a lineage which carries an Elemental name. (2) All number-of-elements milestones refer to dragons you have registered on your spreadsheet. (3) All bred milestones must always be bred completely from CBs on your own scroll, except where otherwise specified. (4) All bred milestones must be “unrelated” to your other bred milestones, except where otherwise specified. Dragons count as “unrelated” if they have no 2nd+ gens in common. (The same CBs can be used to breed “unrelated” milestones.) (5) Instead of a CB gift, it is always possible to request a lineaged dragon of up to one category higher, or a CB of any lower category. Requesting specific lineages is ok, within reason (you cannot request a 2nd gen prize-kin, for example). When in doubt, ask. Exception: For categories 12 and 13, you can alternatively request anything of category 9 and lower. (6) A Leeloo is always an even-gen dragon where all CBs are of a different eligible breed. (7) For all even-gen milestones, including Leeloos, at least one member of each CB pair must have an Elemental name, except where otherwise specified. All 2nd+ gens must have an Elemental name. (8) For Leeloos of 6th or higher gen, you may include 2nd gen offspring from CB prizes (or CB hybrids that cannot be bred from elemental parents), even if the parents are not on your scroll and not elementally named. These 2nd gens can, but do not have to, be the same breed as their prize/hybrid parent. (9) All breeds not listed as available milestones are considered Category 0 commons (except if they are relatively new; in that case, please ask before requesting). If you need them but have trouble finding them, just ask in the thread and be prepared to be bombarded. (Though if you want, you can also request them for any milestone.) Milestones: Category 1 milestones: a. Having 15 total Elements registered. b. Having registered Elements in all 5 elemental categories. c. Breeding a 5th gen Elemental dragon from your own scroll. All breeds must be used at least once (coppers count as one breed for this milestone), but you can choose which color of nebula and copper to use. f. Breeding an even 5th gen using 4 purebred (PB) 3rd gens - 1 from each of 4 Elemental categories. You may choose which 4 of the 5 categories to represent. Category 4 Gifts Bred hatchies: • alt undine • alt vine Category 5 milestones: a. Having 300 total Elements registered. b. Having registered 200 Elements in a single elemental category. This milestone may be repeated once for each category. c. Having registered 100 Elements of a single breed. This milestone may be repeated once for each breed. d. Having registered at least one dragon of each routinely available breed (all except GoN, Holidays or Thuwed hellhorse). e. Breeding a 20th gen Elemental dragon from your own scroll. Posted June 10, 2013 I'm pondering redoing our "milestones claimed" pages for active members. I'm trying to verify and update, and it's a giant mess. I'd like to give each member a section on the front page, would look something like this (using deb as a guinea pig since I'm pretty sure her stats are up to date with our last update from August, 2012) : It looks more clear, but it'll take an enormous amount of space. I'ld keep it sorted on the milestones, like 15 of a breed, 25 of a breed, 50 of a breed and so on. I'm afraid I have 2 milestones on almost all Elemental breeds, so that 'ld be a hundred milestones. Further I have many other milestones, maybe another 50. And I won't be the only one with quite a lot of milestones. And with the spreadsheet in working, it looks quite easy to check your milestones, but I have an enormous backlog of Elemental dragons already, so I'll check my milestones later. Share this post Link to post
Posted June 10, 2013 Well, it would make it much easier for members to track their milestones, but I wonder if it would all fit, considering we already hit the character limit in the post as it is. Share this post Link to post
Posted June 10, 2013 @xocowolf Ooh what's Sanskrit? Ancient Indo-European language. It's what Hindi is based on. I use it because it's rich and exotic-sounding, and not many people on this site use it so I don't have to worry about a particular name being taken. Share this post Link to post
Posted June 11, 2013 (edited) I'm pondering redoing our "milestones claimed" pages for active members. I'm trying to verify and update, and it's a giant mess. I'd like to give each member a section on the front page, would look something like this I don't know that you'll have enough space on the front page alone. Have you considered putting it somewhere/somehow on the Mastersheet? I've tried to do something similar to what you wrote in text on my spreadsheet: Showing Here I know what I've claimed, what I have received, who gave it to me, etc. If it isn't on the list, I'm still working on it. Edit: also grandmother_cathie hasn't requested her prize from my mini-guessing competition. I didn't guess the right number, I said three, when there were only two. Thanks for the offer though. I appreciate it! Edited June 11, 2013 by Grandmother_cathie Share this post Link to post
Posted June 11, 2013 (edited) It's really nice, Pink, but multiplied by all our active members that's going to take a LOT of space. I'm keeping a sheet on my 5E spreadsheet for milestones. Can't we verify with our spreadsheets, and leave it off the forum? ETA: Might as well fix these while I'm at it 5th perfect alt vine *gifted by pink* (water horse) need lineage link to verify This one was transposed. It was a perfect 5th gen WATERHORSE, and Pink gifted me an alt vine hatchie. (An easy mistake, I've had FOUR perfect 5th gen waterhorses ) - But all that is documented on my spreadsheet. --water CB brimstone gifted by Pink --water CB magma *gifted by airaani The CB brimstone from Pink was for 200 elements in water; the CB magma from airaani was for 100 elements in water. Posted June 11, 2013 I also keep my milestone tracking on my spreadsheet in the tab provided by Lastalda.... I don;t have a record of who gifted me my milestones - mines in a little less detail than others but I do keep most other info. Perhaps links to milestone tabs of the spreadsheets could be set up in the first section that Pink can check for missing milestones and tracking? Share this post Link to post
Posted June 11, 2013 There are 63151 characters on the 2 pages of milestone claims. These forms would replace that. I agree that senior members are capable of keeping track of their own milestones via their spreadsheets. But what about semi inactive members who don't have spreadsheets yet and new members who might be overwhelmed? I just think it would be safer to have a master backup in case someone accidentally deletes stuff. Just waking up, so will have to give it more thought *sleepy emoticon* Share this post Link to post
Posted June 11, 2013 (edited) Good morning, Pink. *offers coffee and a muffin* Why don't you keep the milestone records on a spreadsheet, one that only mods have access to? That way it's not taking up the whole front page but still all nicely contained in one place and easily edited. You could keep the records by player just like you suggested. Super easy to find things that way but we don't have to worry about running out of characters or scaring off potential new members with a massive wall of complicated looking records. That's my two cents about the milestone records. In other news, I now have six of the eight 2nd gen Golds I need for my Gold x Red Neb checkerboard project (and who would have thought that Golds would be the easy half of anything?) Still working on getting them all mates - I have two 2nd gen Red Nebs and another two eggs growing. I'm really concentrating on this particular project right now, so if anyone could breed a Nebbie from CB Gold x CB Red Neb for me that's not related to the ones I already have I would be very grateful and would happily breed or catch something for you in exchange. Thanks everyone! P.S. Any that turn Blue get donated to our resident Nebula hoarder so there's a potential to make two of us happy. Or, you know, one of us happy and then really frustrated and then another one of us happy. Edited June 11, 2013 by kelverathewinged Share this post Link to post
Posted June 11, 2013 ooh a yummy muffin *noms* Thanks kel, that idea makes the most sense! Lastalda - it would have to be a male gold to breed with a red nebula deb - ty for fixing my errors! Share this post Link to post
Posted June 11, 2013 I spent the morning breeding my gold x red neb pairs and got 3 nebs and 1 gold. So, yay. That's my third gold for my version. So far I only have one 2nd gen red neb, so I'm really hoping at least one of these turns red. Cross your fingers! I'm working on a 5th gen purebred copper too. I've got one 3rd gen so far and 4 2nd gens. Share this post Link to post
Posted June 11, 2013 Fi, let me know if you need 2nd gen coppers, I have a pair of each color I can breed for you. Share this post Link to post
Posted June 11, 2013 I'm working on a 5th gen purebred copper too. I've got one 3rd gen so far and 4 2nd gens. I need one more breeding pair of Rainbow coppers to make a 5th from my scroll. I really did try to hoard as many of them as I could when they originally dropped. Now they are just WAY popular and I haven't caught two more of the sweeties. Share this post Link to post
Posted June 12, 2013 deb - ty for fixing my errors! No problem Though I'm not sure how I feel about being called a "senior member" *lol* Oh, wait, I'm having a senior moment ... so maybe it's apropos Share this post Link to post
Posted June 12, 2013 I was fortunate enough to trade for quite a few more coppers when they were new, so I have enough for my 5th gen, if I don't get tons of refusals. So I appreciate the offers. In fact, if any of you need 2nd gens, either pb or other, I can probably help with that. I'm really happy that coppers are so popular. ... and bummed because that makes cb ones harder to find. lol Share this post Link to post

Someday I'll snag a 2nd CB of the Liver of Sulfur and the Verdigris, but for now I'm thrilled with the 4 I managed to grab the day they were released Share this post Link to post
