Welcome back for another round of the DC Photography contest, come and show us what you've got! 

 

This time, the theme is: Big and small

A picture that shows its own contrast. My example from this round is "Bananas"

 

Submission deadline: 09/20/2023

 

Voting deadline:  09/27/2023

 

Submissions:

 

Rules:

 

- One entry per person.

- A photograph is defined as an image made using a camera or phone camera.

- Screenshots are not allowed.

- Picture has to be made by yourself and can't be just a reproduction of someone's work. If someone else's work is in the picture, there needs to be something extra.

- No manipulation besides basic photo adjustments (contrast, exposure, cropping, color balance, lighting, etc.).

- No text or framing in the photo. A signature/watermark is just fine, but it's preferable if you don't have "O Hai Eye Hav3 T3XT" (or something similar) present in the photo.

- When voting, please don't select your own image. This will ensure fairness.

- You are free to submit an old photo; you don't need to take a new one just for this competition.

- Winner hosts the next contest.

- Hosts may re-use previous themes that have not been used in the last 10 contests.

Anything, so long as there's a contrast between large and small, like a Morris Minicooper parked next to a stretch limo, or a chihuahua playing with a Great Dane.

I'm good with that. I find that some of the previous times were way to long.

I wouldn't mind trying out shorter contest times, sometimes they do drag on too long. I wonder if two weeks was too short, though, since this one only got two entries. I had a shoot in mind to do for it but didn't end up having the chance.

I think 1 week for voting is ideal.

I feel like, most of the time, its more about the theme not really inspiring poeple than a question of time frame. I think had about a month to post a picture but only ended with only a couple of entries.

I have to agree, actually. I was on vacation, and thought it would be so easy - but in the end saw nothing suitable that interested me enough to make the effort. The closest I got - and I couldn't even be bothered to take my camera out - was his espresso vs my cafe long..... That said - there have been other time I have been enthused and no-one else has. We all have our photographic enthusiasms.

 

I agree about one week for voting, though.
