Posted July 10, 2017 (edited) Fortune! *hugs back* Yes, he gets to wander outside in a contained area at the side of the house. He gets most impatient if you don't let him out once he's eaten. Ooh - overnight approval! Thanks, whichever mod! https://dragcave.net/view/RiB92 Edited July 10, 2017 by Lagie Share this post Link to post
Posted July 10, 2017 In Britain, we call them tortoises. Turtles are in the sea (like Crush from Finding Nemo). Then there are terapins. No idea if there is a different name for them or not. Share this post Link to post
Posted July 10, 2017 Ah, gotcha. This is definitely not a sea turtle. Probably a terrapin. He was found in the road just before Hurricane Matthew last year. Share this post Link to post
Posted July 10, 2017 He does, but doesn't like to stay in it for long. He seems to prefer wandering across the landscape. Share this post Link to post
Posted July 10, 2017 Testudines? Never heard that word before. He likes to have his head massaged gently right on top! Share this post Link to post
Posted July 10, 2017 The family name for the three 'types' Aw. Cute lol. Share this post Link to post
Posted July 10, 2017 Cool. New word. Thanks! We all thought my friend was going to release the turtle back into the wild after the storm, but that never happened. Two of his outdoor swim spots have now become tadpole pools. Share this post Link to post
Posted July 10, 2017 We used to get frogs in our pond. Never any spawn though. Think the fish ate them. Share this post Link to post
Posted July 10, 2017 These are just plastic containers she had put water in for Matthew, and the frogs made use of them. So, no fish! I go to another house this evening - and there are tadpoles there as well. Share this post Link to post
Posted July 10, 2017 Yes. The other friend has them in a container on the top of the fridge and is feeding them goldfish food. They're enormous! She'll be gone three weeks so I need to make sure I check on them daily to make sure they don't have legs yet! I really don't want a bunch of wee froggies leaping at me from the top of the fridge. Posted July 10, 2017 I bet. Just imagine walking in one day to find they've escaped. Share this post Link to post
Posted July 10, 2017 The cat would probably be having a ball. (He's why they're on the fridge in the first place!) Share this post Link to post

Posted July 11, 2017 Froggies and turtles and puppies, oh my! I've missed a lot in this conversation! My daughter and son-in-law have 3 box turtles. They were rescues, as turtles are protected here. They have had Rocky for about 3 years and recently added Dog and Tortellini (Don't ask -- the names came with them!) They have a large pen outside for them. Share this post Link to post
