As opposed to what kind of turtle?

In Britain, we call them tortoises. Turtles are in the sea (like Crush from Finding Nemo). Then there are terapins. No idea if there is a different name for them or not.

Ah, gotcha. This is definitely not a sea turtle. Probably a terrapin.

He was found in the road just before Hurricane Matthew last year.

He does, but doesn't like to stay in it for long. He seems to prefer wandering across the landscape.

We all thought my friend was going to release the turtle back into the wild after the storm, but that never happened.

Two of his outdoor swim spots have now become tadpole pools.

We used to get frogs in our pond. Never any spawn though. Think the fish ate them.

These are just plastic containers she had put water in for Matthew, and the frogs made use of them. So, no fish!

I go to another house this evening - and there are tadpoles there as well.

Yes. The other friend has them in a container on the top of the fridge and is feeding them goldfish food. They're enormous!

She'll be gone three weeks so I need to make sure I check on them daily to make sure they don't have legs yet!

I really don't want a bunch of wee froggies leaping at me from the top of the fridge.

I bet. Just imagine walking in one day to find they've escaped.

The cat would probably be having a ball. (He's why they're on the fridge in the first place!)

Froggies and turtles and puppies, oh my! I've missed a lot in this conversation!

 

My daughter and son-in-law have 3 box turtles. They were rescues, as turtles are protected here. They have had Rocky for about 3 years and recently added Dog and Tortellini (Don't ask -- the names came with them!) They have a large pen outside for them.
