I swear i'll be top page someday on CPA. one day.

sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo how was everyones day? or night?

I really don't know what to do with my life. I finished 8th grade(yay?) now there is 9th grade. After that i need to know where i want to go next. I don't want to go there anymore and the school will probably be ''closed'' and be a middle school. I wanna go study art and go to an art highschool. There are to options one in the capital where my bff is or the city. My godmothers husband said i should go to a languages school.

i have less than a year. more like less than 9 months to know what i would do with my life. i'm scared.

Hola amigos. Rocking my GOT swag -swog-

-grabs choc croissant-

Dragnilu, 9 months is a long time. Try to organise yourself a tour of the schools, if you can, or go to open days. It'll definitely help you to decide.

Have you thought about why you want to go to an art highschool vs a languages highschool?

(I'm not familiar with them...so I can't really say anything)

Does taking one over the other greatly impact your college choices and your college major?

Does going to an art highschool better improve your artistry and give you a better chance to succeed in the art field?

or would it be more viable to go to a language school and obtain a degree (in something else) afterwards and work on art as a hobby or a side job.

(I'm just assuming that you're considering on becoming an artist vs doing something else (what your godmother's husband wants))

At the end of the day, it is your life and it will be your choice.

However, you should also consider the pros and cons of both choices.

These are big decisions.

Have you tried talking to an adviser?

I wasn't even aware there were different types of high schools......maybe it's a mainland thing....

Like giggly said, it is really up to you. If you really enjoy art, go ahead and do that. Just know that it does not necessarily promise a job at the end of the road and you may need to put more of yourself into it to make it work...but again as long as you enjoy it it should be fine. You could go and study something that you know will provide an income and a stable lifestyle but if you don't enjoy what you do, is it truly worth it? In a way, it's okay to not know what you want to do with life. I'm 27 and still don't quite know what I want to do. I'm currently going to pursue a Masters in Accounting because I know there are plenty of jobs for accounting (and I've taken a few basic courses and enjoyed them so I might not dislike it). However, if I could do it over again, maybe I would have taken more courses in art and pursued an art career. You're still young enough that you have time to figure out how you want the direction of your life to go and you have more leeway to change if something doesn't go quite right; the job market gets harder when you're older and less experienced. Again, like giggly said, if you still have trouble deciding, talk it out with an adviser, it's their job to help you figure out what you want to do. But remember, in the end it is ultimately up to you. No one should dictate what you should do with your life.

@clove: sure, I guess I can be a pseudo villain and be out for your head -w-

Lagie doesn't count posts.

She has a magical sentient talking brownie to do it for her. It lets her know when a toppage is about to happen, and she quickly swoops in.

I love this! biggrin.gif I wondered where that voice was coming from, now I know! laugh.gif

So, now I'm at the second house. Two dogs here as well, a ridgeback and a boxer.

I get to have a 'stay-cation' here next week. tongue.gif

I'm always envious of people who know what they want to do with their lives. Even at 51, I still don't really know!

You'd probably be a rival character, mostly because after this story, you probably still won't trust me much.

An invisible magical sentient talking brownie?

Or maybe they're just really good at blending in with the regular non-talking ones...

Kind of? What do you mean by mainland?

I'ļl explain about our schools. There are the main school. There you learn the basic stuff. Then there are other schools, like art, music and sports school. These schools are like primary schools you could say. You need to finished one of these schools to go to the special high school that you want. I finished 2 of these. Art and music. We don't really learn music instruments in the basic school but we do in music school. I played the flute. When i finish 9th grade i could go to a music or art highschool and the university. Cool, huh?

If there are any other questions ask away.

xd.png Totally good at blending in!

Good morning, CPA! cool.gif

*sets out coffee, teas, juices, apples, brownies, and toast with jelly*

I had a restless night with the dogs here who like breakfast at 5 a.m. and a bed that's too soft for my still-not-100% back. After trying the floor, I finally realized I'd been stupid to not even consider the other bed in the room - and it turned out to be fine! So after the early feed, I managed to sleep in for once.

*pokes the brownies*

Can any of you talk? No? Are you still sentient? I guess that doesn't matter as much, but nobody likes biting into screaming brownies...

Yay for comfy beds.

Anyway, there's probably going to be a story where you're the main villain 'cause you go too far in trying to kick me out of CPA.

Yeah I'm fine, but I haven't been very hungry lately. Maybe all those electric shocks on Sunday are still having an effect.

@dragnilu: I'm originally from Hawaii. I've only known general high schools, not specialized ones; didn't know there was such a thing (I know there are special colleges but not high schools).

I guess maybe my first question should've been where do you live? uwu

@clove: that sounds like something I'd eventually get kicked out for though uwu

Well i'm from latvia. Now i get what you meant. You thought i was from america right?

It kinda sucks because you NEED to finish the primary art/music/sports? school to get to the other speciallized schools. I heard you can skip the art highschool if you want to go to university buuuuuuuut you'll not get all the teachings you want and only the general ones. Idk about music. I'm happy that you thought i was from 'merica. Me eglish weri gūd.

You'd probably get reformed, TBH. But if you don't, I won't get you kicked out, don't worry. Also you'd do it on other threads, or if I was going to be evil, you would blame the pranks on Dusky.

Hey, if Clove is the main villain for that future story... then I wonder how it will go. And blaming the pranks on Evil!Dusky... actually, I'd blame them on Evil!Straight Outta '82. I'm not the type to prank, but '82 is, and Evil!him has no restrictions on what he'd do or who he'd go after.

Dusky, are you sure? Because prank as a verb doesn't mean what you think it does! tongue.gif

verb (used with object)

1.

to dress or adorn in an ostentatious manner:

They were all pranked out in their fanciest clothes.

verb (used without object)

2.

to make an ostentatious show or display.

Well...it looked like she was using it in the more common (likely slang) context of practical joke. Thank you for the definition. Actually, definition #2 might make sense with '82, though...

i have less than a year. more like less than 9 months to know what i would do with my life. i'm scared.

No, you really don't. This is one of the biggest lies we tell children and I think it is harsh and unfair.

We like to make out to high school kids that when they are in this emotionally-volatile and worldly-immature age range of 15 - 18yr that the decisions they make know will decide their entire life, and once they commit then that's it they can't change. I'm here to tell you that it is utter crap. I know few people who actually at my age (30yrs) are doing what they "decided" to do at 16yrs. Cases in point:

- I went to study Maths to be a teacher. I'm now an A&E nurse.

- Lover failed her college to be a forensic scientist. She's now off to do Occupational Therapy.

- Levis wanted to be a history teacher. He now heads up the first aid charity for this county.

- My sister wanted to teach outdoor sports. Now she's a single mother doing care work during the day.

- My friend wanted to do a sciences degree and go into research. She's doing her training as a doctor.

- One of my seniors was an RAF officer before leaving, becoming a paramedic, then leaving that to work in hospital instead.

- My Dad was a soldier who specialised in bombs and communications, then trained outdoor sports, and is now a therapist for disabled veterans.

You are allowed to not know what you want, and change your mind later.

I see most people hit their mid-twenties, a point where they have emotionally stabilised and generally matured, and suddenly we all change careers and ideas now we have actually finished forming out personalities. This rubbish that you have to decide in your teens the course your life will take is a lie; you can make a choice and if you don't like it, you can change it. Things will come up that you never thought of and you'll commit to that instead. A chance opportunity may just turn into the greatest adventure of your life. Many people do,and do it successfully - sometimes again and again and again. My Nana must have had ten different careers across her life.

So it's fine to be unsure, and it's fine to go down one route and then leave it later. You would not be ostracized for doing that.

*snug* morning Fort. What electric shocks?

Typically I get up early to try and do something with my day for once, and it is grey and wet.
