The first Tinsels were awarded as a prize in a tree decorating contest for the 2010 holiday. The first Shimmers were awarded similarly for a 2012 holiday contest. Your questions certainly allayed my suspicions that the trophy levels might have been too far apart. With insufficient DC longevity, I wouldn't have won if I'd been in the next trophy level 😉.
