On The Hunt - OOC

Recommended Posts

Vast as the oceans, solid as rock, swift as the wind, vicious as flames, peaceful as nature, passionate as the sun, stalking as the shadows.

---

Legends tell about Arkos, the god that created Arkonia. He created seven guardians to keep balance: Pescon, Guardian of Water; Gairra, Guardian of Earth; Aerus, Guardian of Skies; Pyrone, Guardian of Fire; Silvyte, Guardian of Life; Solun, Guardian of Light and Nekronas, Guardian of Darkness.

Soon enough, the humans started to favor one of the guardians, and they noticed. Pescon, Silvyte and Solun were favored the most, while Pyrone and Nekronas were hardly favored at all. They became jealous, and a fight started, tearing the balance of the world. The disorder enraged Arkon, so he sealed away the guardians, and passed their powers on to the humans favoring them, in balance again.

Arkos hasn't been seen since, neither have any of the guardians. Up until now.

Rumours have started to spread, saying that the guardians have escaped, aiming to reclaim the might they once had.

---

You live in one of the seven tribes. You have heard of these rumours, so has almost everyone. The leaders of each tribe have decided to get their people together to fight the guardian their ancestors used to favor, so they will retain their power, these groups being called after their element: the water hunt, the earth hunt, the sky hunt, the fire hunt, the light hunt and the dark hunt.

Not everyone shares this mindset though, there are people who have seperated from their hunt to favor their guardian once again, calling themselves the legacy. The tribe of life refuses to fight at all, so does their guardian. The last group is formed by elites of all the tribes, including corrupted elites from the tribe of life, and calls itself the wild hunt. Their goal is to destroy everyone - the guardians and the tribes - to prove they are the strongest on Arkonia and gain even greater power from Arkos, at least that's how they think he will react.

Rules

1. No godmodding or powerplaying.

2. Forum and RP rules apply.

3. Keep things PG 13.

4. Be nice to one another.

5. Swearing is allowed, but don't do it too often. If you want a character that's a sailormouth, ask me before possibly wasting time on a sheet.

6. If you can't be active for an extended period of time for whatever reason, let me know so I can put your character on inactive. They then count as NPCs that everyone is allowed to control. You are allowed to leave a description of what people can and most certainly can't do.

7. RP posts in third person, please.

User: Felixr2

Name: Arghon Maedas

Age: 74

Appearance: Standing at around 1.9 metres, he is very slender, but very vital. He is bald and has brown eyes. He wears a robe in a somewhat Roman fashion, but instead of white it's beige and brown.

Tribe: Sky

Alliance: The Sky hunt.

Personality: Although he is quite reserved, he is one of the least introverted people of the tribe of the Skies. This comes in very handy, as he is the leader of his tribe. Smart and strategic, he will always plan out his moves before going on to action.

History: Being the first son of Laíhr Maedas, the previous leader of the tribe of the Skies, he was born and raised to become the next leader. He excelled at all of his tests, and when Laíhr retired and passed the leadership on to Arghon, he had soon earned his respect. It was due to Arghon's clever decisions that the nomadic tribe has managed to survive the harsh winter 10 years ago.

Skills: Very skilled tactician in all kinds of things. He very good at controlling the wind and can summon air elementals in an instance, but he's always been frightened of lightning elementals and never even tried to summon one of those.

Other: None.

-

Name: Jamès Liarthe

Age: 34

Appearance: He has a muscular build and a very dark, almost black, skin. He stands at 1.9 metres and only wears brown cloth shorts and a necklace of teeth. His face has a constant aggressive expression, with fiery red eyes. His hair is short and black, and he has a 2 metres long obsidian spear.

Tribe: Fire

Alliance: Fire Legacy

Personality: He is very hot-tempered and will always turn a disagreement into a fight. You can tell he's in a good mood if he punches you in the chest when you say "hello", rather than in the face. (Rule #1 of "How to survive in the Tribe of Fire": never say hello. Rule #2 Never punch people bigger and/or stronger than you. Rule #3: Never insult anyone. Rule #4: Never show you're armed. Rule # 5: Make sure you're always armed.)

History: He was raised hearing the stories about Pyrone and the other guardians fighting and getting sealed away by Arkos. Other than most of the people of his tribe, he started to respect Pyrone for what he did - something that's very rare to happen in the tribe of fire - and started practicing to fight with a spear and use his elemental powers at the same time. Once he heard the Guardians had broken free, he was one of the first people to set off against the Fire Hunt and join the group that would later on become the Fire Legacy.

Skills: Very skilled at fighting with a spear and controlling fire, and can also summon fire and lava elementals, although this does take him 5 ~ 10 seconds and he can only control up to two at a time.

Other: Nada

-

Name: Sark Rorak

Age: 42

Appearance: He's a 1.7 metres tall, very beefy man with a slightly tan skin and short, straight, black hair. His eyes are a grayish green and he wears brown trousers and a white cloth sleeveless shirt. Around his head and knuckles are red cloth straps. His skin is covered in dust pretty much constantly due to his extensive use of his powers.

Tribe: Earth

Alliance: Earth Hunt

Personality: He is very stubborn, only changing his ways when something doesn't work. He feels like a working system does not need any improvement, and the democracy of the Tribe of Earth, with the leader only double-checking the vote counts for very important decisions and being the only one to have the right to vote everywhere, works in his eyes, so he has no urge to change anything about it.

History: He has always been taught to be polite to others and work for his own living. This has always worked for him. He works as a builder, using his powers to creat walls and fundaments for houses. When the leader went from city to city to start a voting on wether to side up with Gairra or take it out, his city was one of the first visited. The leader's advice had always worked for him, and he adviced taking Gairra out, so that's what he voted for. But now, something unusual happened: the people who lost the voting and wanted to side with Gairra left the city, while people who wanted to take him out but lost the votes in their cities came to the city were Sark lived.

Skills: Quickly creating an inhabitable house out of a blank slate. Summoning walls to use as shields and firing rocks from the ground.

Other: Yes, he is a simple man.

User: MyWhiteKnight

Name: Seleat Missran

Age: 26

Appearance: Dark tan skin with piercing grey eyes and dark hair. She is tall and well developed, with good muscles an an athletic figure. She has small scars on her left hand from an accident when she tried to gut a fish at a young age. her hair is wavy, and normally kept in a high ponytail. Sometimes, it's in a side braid, all of it to kee the air out of her face.

Tribe: Water Tribe

Alliance: Starts Main Hunt, but turns Legacy

Personality: Like her element, she is bubbly, sweet, and caring. As the youngest, she tends to be a bit reckless and extremely adventurous. She grew up on her father's merchant boat, trading between the clans. While she always understood the stories, she is naturally empathetic, feeling for the Guardians. When angered, she is fierce, unforgiving, and single minded.

History: Seleat grew up on her father's merchant ship, and spent most of her childhood at sea and ports. She learned how to read and write, but, as her mother died early, it all took a backseat to her love of the open seas and the water. She adores the sea's creatures, especially dolphins and whales. She has a good singing voice, picking up on sailing and drinking songs at a young age, and knows her way around a port, market, and ship like the back of her hand. She finds herself starting this adventure at port with her father, helping to run the family business.

Skills: Seafaring (general repairing, tying knots, navigating, steering, rigging, sails, navigation, cartography at sea, basic fundamentals of land cartography, all the bobs and bibs of the ship), negotiating/sweet talking, decent singing and story telling abilities, able to manipulate water in small streams and balls, can call it from wet ground, and shift the flow of smaller bodies of water, able to mend basic things (no intricate sewing)

Other: While friendly and amiable, Seleat does not trust easily, she does learn quickly, though she is not book smart.

-

Name: Tristian Wood

Age: 32

Appearance: He is an average looking man, with pale skin and chestnut hair. Mischievous hazel eyes, and a light step, he is the devilish rogue. While muscular and masculine in appearance, his features are sharp as his wit. His prides himself on his agility and dexterity, with long, pianist fingers. He keeps himself meticulously clean and tidy, taking great pride in his appearance. All over his body are small scars of cuts and scratches from his initiation, training, and jobs as a member of the Tribe of Darkness. He has a particularly large one that slants across his lips, and, when thinking intensely, Tristian is known to run his fingers along it.

Tribe: Darkness

Alliance: He has no firm alliance, and will take the best opportunity that presents itself.

Personality: He is a charming, charismatic rogue. He doesn't have any set routes and doesn't do anything with 'emotions' or 'relationships.' He is known for a silver tongue, able to talk his way out of anything. He is well educated and well dressed, using what he takes to pay for his lifestyle. He enjoys owning high class, high quality items, from his cufflinks to his daggers and poisons. Despite all of this shiny, personal veneer, he takes his art of stealing and assassination, corruption and darkness very seriously. When not out and about, he spends hours honing his craft, from creating poisons, practicing with his tools, to exposing himself to poisons to build immunity. Overall, his personality is intense and volatile. One moment, he is the smoothest gentleman in the room, the next a deadly, harsh, emotionless entity. He is his element, both forbidding and enticing, intense yet alluring. When enraged, he is particularly patient, planning his retaliation totally, completely, and executing it to perfection.

History: Ironically, Tristian came from a large, affluential family of the Light Tribe. He was classically educated in a manner of things, from geography to theology. However, when he was a young teenager, only fourteen, the Dark Tribe attacked and overtook his family's land. As the sole survivor, and an impressionable child, the tribe gave him an edict. Join us and survive, or die. At that age, all he knew is that he didn't want to die. The conquering lord of the darkness took over his education. At times, it was unforgiving, dark, horrible, and painful, scarring him mentally and physically. After five years, he came out a full fledged member of the Tribe of Darkness, never looking back. He takes great pride and enjoyment in upkeeping his body and appearance, always meticulous and clean. He can be described as vain, and, to a certain extent is. However, the limit of when he can exhibit such behavior was drilled into him at a young age, and thus knows when to play and when to work. He fully believes in the Darkness and it's purpose, and enjoys his ability to 'blend in' with the normal people of other Tribes only to corrupt his chosen targets.

Skills: Poison lore (knowledge of it, how to make it, apply it, and immunity to most of it), duel wielding of daggers, throwing daggers, sweet talking people, the ability to temporarily control a person's mind, shroud a room in darkness, possess excellent agility (lightness of foot, acrobatics) and dexterity (crafting small items, lock picking and making), general knowledge of the world, the lands to an extent, assassination, corruption, can summon shadow spirits, corrupt a person

Other: He is built for speed in spurts and sprints, not any sort of stamina or walking forever, running long distances. None of his family is alive, as they were killed and refused to be corrupted by the Tribe of Darkness when they took over his life. He is okay with horses, but gets sea sick easily.

User: DodzAdham

Name: Luke Nate (often called Luka)

Age: 17

Appearance: http://static.zerochan.net/Dark.Link.full.1674109.jpg

Tribe: Dark Tribe

Alliance: Wild Hunt

Personality: Twisted is the very least to be said about Luke, his past left him scarred.. and vengeful. He is basically as 'dark' as it gets, but that doesn't mean he isn't loyal to his friends and hunt, but be wary.. He is the last person you want on your blacklist as he can be extremely useful as he a lot of connections in almost every tribe and hunt. As cold as he is, Luke hides behind a very painful past that left him suffering from a few weaknesses.

History: He may hide behind a dark, ruthless personality, but the past few years weren't easy.. After he lost both his best friend Jak, and little sister Emiley, Luke hasn't been the same, sure he was always a dark person but that incident ignited his flame of vengeance and sent him on a streak of destruction and darkness, to this very day he still searches for the man responsible for killing the only people he cared about.

Skills: He's pretty good with a sword and isnt too shabby at close range fights, he always has a bow on his person which is his main choice of weaponry. However his most valuable skill is how he can manipulate people with little to no effort.

User: Sugar-Free

Name: Yamenha Lusos

Age: 37

Appearance: Yamenha is a tall, slim-built man, standing at 6’2”. He wears ornate robes, form-fitting in the chest and arms, and hanging loose at his hip, and are colored a silver-cream. It is lined with pearl buttons and braids about the creases of the arms and down the collar. He wears an emerald-green waistwrap that trails down the front of his legs. The robe trains back about a foot, and is embroidered with pale green vines and golden leaves. He wears simple cotton breeches and sandals underneath. He wears a foliage-themed pin in his pale-gold locks, which hang just below his shoulder and curl. His eyes are peridot-green, and seem to be veined like sunlit leaves with two tiny pinpricks of black.

He keeps his pale skin clean and orderly, and is especially fussy about his nails.

Tribe: Life Tribe

Alliance: Wild Hunt

Personality: Yamenha is a thoroughly curious person. He greatly loves the flora surrounding the Tribe of Life’s territory, and refers to each species as his “children”. He loves the thrill of travel, and is delighted by the prospect of interacting with new plants he finds in foreign lands. Many of the flowers surrounding the Tribe’s land are direct transplantations or re-bred cousins acclimated to the climate.

He is open and gentle to his fellow Tribesmen. To most, he is a delicate wisp of a man, engrossed in his love for plants and quick to uphold the ideals of his friends and family. Yamenha often gifts presents from his personal greenhouse to those who are down on their luck or have had a loved one pass. For this, his sway over the public opinion is hardy, which acts as a boon for his position as heir-apparent to the Tribeleader.

Despite his angelic looks, there is another side to his goodly nature. Where no one can see, Yamenha hides a seal at the base at his spine proclaiming his allegiance to the Wild Hunt. He is thoroughly jaded with the mindset of his people, and finds it frustrating that his lack of omniscient power prevents him from swaying them into action. He hates that Life tribesman seem to be made lax and merry in the shade of indifference, and strives to free them from their slothful existence. He has secretly met with one of the Wild Huntsmen, and has personal plans to force Life and the other Tribes out of stagnation with the power reclaimed from the destruction of the Guardians. He carefully manages the delicate balance of his official duties with those of the Wild Hunt, often "going out on excursions" and excusing himself shortly before the end of celebration.

He has a very tenuous relationship with his distant brother (due to a past experience that changed their lives forever), and refuses to claim him. He actively seeks the destruction of his “lesser half”, and scorns him for his attachment to his Guardian.

Skills: He is revered for his skill in horticulture and preoccupancy with cross-breeding, being the forefather of weather- and insect-resistant crops and flowers. Due to this, he has an adept knowledge of floromancy, and can summon vines and other plants to defend himself with at will with ease. He likes the ents, but dislikes what autonomy they can show.

Other: His motto is “In pain, we thrive. In comfort, we wither.”

-

Name: Yomiel Lusos

Age: 37

Appearance: Yomiel is tall and relatively built, with a slim figure hidden under his relaxed garnments. He wears a raven-black alb that is split on the sides to the hip, embroidered in gossamer-grey with a cross-stitch at the apex of the slits. The sleeves are cut at the biceps and hang, which shows the loose pure-black longsleeves of his undershirt. The cuffs have a delicate wisp pattern in the same grey as the embroidery. He wears a slouched grey-blue sash at his hip. His legs are covered by grey silk pants which cinch at the ankles, and he wears a pair of black leather sandals on his feet.

On his left hand, he wears a worn silver ring on his thumb. It has five weathered sets in it, with two missing.

His hair is slightly curled and waist-length, black with a raven sheen to it. His eyes are unnaturally pale-yellow, like moonlight. He seems very particular about his roots.

Tribe: Dark

Alliance: Dark Legacy

Personality: Yomiel can be a troubling personality. He is rather withdrawn, and is slow to speak to those who are unknown to him. While not entirely unkindly, he can be reserved to the point of rudeness, and harbors no love for prose. He expects brevity and conciseness from his fellow tribe members in return for his own. He takes time to listen instead of talking, and often excuses himself from conversations to think through his considerations.

He is far more passionate and relatable to his beloved pack of Spirit Panthers, which take up residence in the deep ruins of the Tribe of Darkness. He has developed a deep sense of intrigue from their interactions with each other, as well as their elusive nature. He considers them a vital part of his existence, often conversing with them in a lost tongue known only to the few remnant tablets of the old Tribe of Darkness. He can often be found wandering through the surrounding marsh, whittling on poplar hunks with his 5 “Disciples” shepherding him.

History: He is entirely devoted to his Guardian Nekronas and often sees himself as the only truly pious member of its following. He seeks out further information about Nekronas’s connection to the land before it was sealed away as well as attempting to communicate with it through the Lost Tongue. His obsession with guarding Nekronas has made him distant from his tribesmen, even those who seek to protect it. As to why he has formed such a dedication is unknown.

Yomiel hides a depraved secret, one that he is determined to keep locked away from himself and others. Because of this, he has developed his manipulation powers to work as a suppressant, using it on himself to cause pinpoint amnesia, so that he would never remember what he had done that has caused him such shame and pain. He refuses to use his broad-spectrum mind-control powers on anyone. The only remnant of his past is the silver ring he wears, though the meaning of the five gemstones (as well as the origin of the ring itself) has been long lost to him. His personal frustrations with his identity and his memories stem from phantom pangs of regret and anger.

Skills: Pinpoint amnesia. Yomiel also has superior cloaking skills with mist and fog, and can hide himself and another in it. His knowledge of shadow elementals is acceptable, at best, preferring to call upon his pack for assistance.

Other: Yomiel collects wooden statuettes, most often making his own to resemble Spirit Panthers and Nekronas. He has an obsession with the number “5”.

---

On characters:

You are allowed to pick an unclaimed tribe leader. You can't have your character be part of a hunt or legacy that's not of their own tribe, unless you have a very good reason and backstory to explain it. The wild hunt, as stated before, is available to characters from all 7 tribes.

I have decided to set the character limit to 7 for now.

---

Major updates:

We're safe!!!

I'm certain we'll have enough characters to start. All there's left to do now is fine-tuning the stuff. Sign-ups are still OPEN.

I'm working on a character. If no one is interested, should I even bother tho?

Well, 4 days and only two people are here. One of which is me and the other one you. I'm basically just sad I somehow can't copy/paste what I typed in here to notepad so I can try it again later, but it seems like it failed now. sad.gif I don't think two people will be enough. I'm going to wait three days - just to give it a full week - and if there aren't any other people who have joined by then i'm going to ask a mod to close this. It's up to you wether or not you make a sheet, but if you don't and someone does show interest in the coming three days, you will still have your spot reserved. smile.gif

Also notice I added one power to each of the tribes. Partially for balance purposes, as I fealt the tribe of darkness was pretty damn powerful with ultimate uncounterable mind controling capabilities. So the tribe of light is immune to them and the tribe of darkness only got the ability to see in the dark.

Of course you may sign up. smile.gifI knew giving it a full week would be worth it!

I'm fine with both - PMs and OOC posts - for character sheets. Every tribe is in dire need of more characters, so tribe of water is perfectly fine. :3

As we need quite some characters, and have relatively few people in here, feel free to make as many as you can handle. (Although even just one character would be very appreciated!)

I do need to disclaim that school is starting again, so from now on I will only really have much time in the weekends. >.< I had hoped it could kick off a bit sooner, so it would've been rolling by now. There are some things that I still need to ready up for this RP - the lack of interest from people here kinda left me wih hardly any motivation to work it out completely. If this puts you off, you are by no means obligated to sign up, but if you stay I will put effort in working it all out for both you and dalek, and anyone who signs up in the meanwhile. Although I feel like we CAN start with three people that all have a decent amount of characters (4-6 I'd say, 7 is alright if you can handle it), but it's preferable to have more people.

As for relations between the tribes:

The tribe of Life is seperated from the others, avoiding conflict. Their initial response to meeting anyone will be friendly. The only exception is a member of the tribe of Darkness, which is their enemy.

The tribe of Darkness wants to corrupt people to join them, they are the common enemy of the 6 other tribes.

The tribe of Fire, though vicious, will mainly protect their territory. Crossing their territory without adapting to their culture will result in them fighting you and your tribe and claiming some of your tribe's territory as theirs.

The tribe of Water is full of merchants, so they try to keep good relations with the other tribes.

The tribe of Light is frowned upon. They do not want to attack people, but will do so if they refuse to follow their orders. They're kind of dictating the areas they can reach.

The tribe of Earth only lets people in who they trust - they have bonds with renowned members of all the tribes, except those of Life, Light and Darkness.

The tribe of the Skies travels around and has seen a lot of the world. If they encounter someone by the side of the road who is in need of help, they will offer him to come along and either join them or stay with them until they're either back home or healthy enough to travel the last part themselves.

With this, the most likely tribes to have someone originally from another tribe join them are the tribes of Darkness and the Skies.

Tell me about it! I am in college on a quarter system, so I've been in school. I"m using this as a way to decompress and will try to post at least once a day on how many characters I make. I'm going to make at least two. One neutral, one 'bad,' and, perhaps, one 'good.' Gotta sharpen those writing skills!

I'm sure al lthe work you're putting into it will come to fruition. smile.gif

-----------------------------

Name:Seleat Missran

Age:26

-----------------------------

Alliance: He has no firm alliance, and will take the best opportunity that presents itself (ie: he can be main Darkness hunt or legacy if you want. Though, I'm having fun imagining scenarios between these two. Up to you, boss biggrin.gif )

I hope this wasn't too much and the characters aren't too OP. I tried to keep their skills within their Tribe and chosen skill sets. So, they should have their strengths as well as their weaknesses. If it's not clear, just tell me and I'll clarify it.

Thanks!

@AmericanDragons: Since we're currently in dire need of characters, I will approve Furistreak and let you develop him further while RPing him.

@MyWhiteKnight: Both are approved. Seleat is, in terms of power level, maybe a bit above average and Tristian is... on the edge of what I deem "Very powerful, but not OP just yet."

I'm now going to edit the sheets in!

EDIT: Done editing everything in!

That is what I'm going for! Are we going to be able to 'train them up' as it were? So, as the story goes on, they get stronger? I would like Seleat to get stronger, and to reveal more of the mastery in flashes for Tristain. Je won't use everything all the time, he'll mess up at times, or he'll get into stupid situations, but he'll have flashes of the brillance that is in his character sheet, and while there is -some- room to improve, if it happens, it'll be slow and gradual, as opposed to the steeper learning curve Seleat would go through.

Improving your skills is definitely a possibility! Practice makes perfect! (for as far as perfection is possible)

And on Tristian messing up from time to time, I like it! laugh.gif

Perfect characters aren't fun to play with. One of my favorite things I'm working on developing as a writer is having a super skilled person/individual, but, instead of god-modding/OPing them, I want to show all the fun shenanigans they get in because they are cocky, confident, vain, what have you. Or, because the world hates them and stupid things happen. I made him a rather flamboyant character on purpose. wink.gif

It's very true that perfect characters aren't fun. And what you're working on developing is litterally one of my favorite things in lecture and literature! (Artemis Fowl ftw! -please don't spoil the last book of the series for me-)

(Don't worry, I never got into Artemis Fowl. I even tried the 100 page test instead of 50. I'm thinking Kenshin and the Riyria Chronicals -which I highly recommend). It's an underused element/character archetype in literature, I agree. Most people want to see only the underdog n00b become the all powerful deity. It's nowhere near as fun.

Exactly. I may look those up sometimes, thanks! I do have to cut this conversation now because it's off-topic and thus deemed spam according to the section rules.

I'm giving a lot of liberty on this to you, but the fight of the Guardians will continue as it was when it was when they got locked away.

In fact, rather than basing the characters on the story, I'd like to have they story be decided by the characters. biggrin.gif

Thank goodness for OOC threads then! I tend to just go with the flow, especially since I have a chaotic neutral character. Thank you for accepting me. biggrin.gif

Well yeah I'm going to look what happens in the beginning, and I'm working on designing plotlines for certain situations - I already have a basic idea for when the balance of the world gets torn apart again, what is very likely to happen no matter what the characters do.
