Posted June 5, 2013 (edited) at the point where he needed some air to go with that water, Trox raised his head above the water's surface, shook his face dry and sat down, content that he was somewhere he could survive. It hadn't been long since his clan was overrun and there was this tiny part of him deep down that was afraid of being out in the open. But an island, especially with all the effort it took him to get here. He felt safer here. Then his attention went back to the other dragon. Having been raised and trained to assault anything that didn't want to give up its food for his clan, he had mixed feelings about meeting someone from the outside. Still, this outsider seemed nonchalant. 'Hey, you! -Trox called and moved over towards her so he didn't have to yell- You're from here, right? Who's territory is this? Posted June 5, 2013 Vorgin pulled out his map looking at the local area He traced his finger over the roads which he had taken till he reached the point he was standing. (There's a lake nearby... I can get some water there.) He left the main path and headed to the lake. Share this post Link to post
Posted June 6, 2013 "Stinging nettles? What are those?" Yüna asked the strange dragons. He was beginning to feel uncomfortable; the intense gazes of the two heads were perturbing him. Share this post Link to post
Posted June 6, 2013 Rey resisted the urge to bolt away when he called out to her, not too fond of the sudden advance. The dragoness tucked her wings in to her sides and stood up, turning to face the black dragon. She shook her head. "Sorry, I don't know about this area, I came from farther south. I haven't seen many locals around, but I overheard that there's some dragons nearby. A colony perhaps. I was headed that way myself, and if you want to tag along you're welcome to join me." The words tumbled from her mouth awkwardly. What was she thinking? Inviting a strange male to come with her on a flight? Talking to strangers again, being too nice, a sure-fire way to get yourself in trouble... Share this post Link to post
Posted June 6, 2013 "Err..." Daburu was a bit taken aback by this question. Just who didn't know what stinging nettles were? Xolpik sensed trickery afoot, but Maxii was just plain confused. So, he patiently explained. "Well, stinging nettles are a small, bitter plant that kinda looks like mint, but is not at all similar. Just the slightest touch can cause a rash, but your pants were stuffed with them!" Maxii looked around "There's some." he sad, pointing to a small patch of weeds. Share this post Link to post
Posted June 6, 2013 Great... another migrant. -he gritted his teeth. There was another clan out there, and he knew nothing about who they were, what they were like, or how they'll react to newcomers. If only he'd had at least two or three of his old comrades, he'd have felt safe in knowing he had a big enough group to assault them back in case things went out of control. Alone out in the unknown, he felt exposed, vulnerable, weak. 'Go, with you? How nice of you. -he repeated sceptically- 'And what are you even planning on doing if you find them? Or worse, they find you first. Oh, wait... -he stopped himself and shot the sky with a glance- 'You're from down south. That's right. I was headed there, myself. More food, more fresh water, less slaughter. Is that true? Share this post Link to post
Posted June 6, 2013 "I wouldn't count on it staying that way for long. A shipload of humans came in and killed most of my clan. Mass genocide, you know the deal. You know how humans are. They spread like a disease." Rey raised an eye ridge at his earlier sarcasm. "And if they find me first and are hostile... So what? I can hold my own fairly well. It's not like I have any place to return to. Might as well go out in someplace pretty. And if I found them and they were nice, well, I'd ask for a place to stay and if they let me in I'd stay with them. If not, I'd keep searching." The dragoness shrugged. "I don't really have a plan. It's hard to stick to one when so many unseen variables pop up, so for now I'm just adjusting as I go along." Share this post Link to post
Posted June 6, 2013 (edited) 'Humans. -he squinted when that word came through. For a moment, all he could think about was finding their settlement and torching it. 'This place just got interesting. -he grinned a little. 'Wait, your entire clan? I mean, I know where you're coming from with this, I'm in a similar mess, but... -he paused and grinded his teeth together for a moment before continuing- 'Look, nevermind. 'Alright, lead the way when you see fit. -he sighed lightly, annoyed that he'd be taking orders from a stranger. But what else could he do, just wander around aimlessly in the night? Trox's eyes were anything but fit for seeing in the dark anyway. Whoever this other dragon was, she was in a mess very similar to his own. He had no plans other then find a new place to live and possibly track down some of his surviving clanmates. Who knew, maybe one of them was in this 'clan' he'd just learned about. 'And your name? What is it? Edited June 6, 2013 by Ælex Share this post Link to post
Posted June 6, 2013 (edited) "I'm Rey. Spelled R-E-Y. One of the few remaining survivors of the Roan Clan." The dragoness gave a small bow. Although she knew she was being a bit silly at this point, Rey knew it was important to have some optimism in a bad situation. Standing back up straight, she asked the same question, "And yours?" Posted June 6, 2013 (edited) 'It's Trox. T-R... uhh, what was the circle one. U? Screw it. I'm of the, now dispersed, Stoneclaw clan. -he arched an eyebrow at the bow. Formalities were alien to Trox, so he assumed Rey was just looking for something down there. Worse yet, their form of a greeting in his clan was a headbutt between males. If one male showed any sign that he was in pain from it, he was immediately ridiculed. 'Roan clan... never heard of them. Mind telling me what they were like? Posted June 6, 2013 Yüna was silent. Of course! Those weeds would explain everything! But how had he not noticed them? Cautiously, he said, "I call those plants fishhooks. I'm not sure how they ended up in my pants. Thank you for removing them, though." Actually, Yüna was sure how the nettles had gotten in his pants, and even more sure that a certain blue Pygmy would soon regret being born. Share this post Link to post
Posted June 6, 2013 "Fishhooks?" Maxii asked "That's misleading name. I'd much rather have a fishhook in my skin than be covered in those plants!" he laughed, glancing at Xolpik. "Well, if you need anything, we'll be in a cave a little south of here." Share this post Link to post
Posted June 6, 2013 Vorgin came upon the lake with a sigh of relief. He took some water to wash his, once he had done that, he cleaned his eyes and saw two dragons that seemed to be talking with each other a good distance away. Vorgin bolted up and hid behind a tree peeking his head around it to see them. He thought, (YES! First dragons sighted! I need to get in position if I want to paint them.) Posted June 7, 2013 (edited) "Wait, where? I've lived here for months and haven't seen you before!" Yüna said. "How could I have missed you?" ((Trox and Rey owners, my character lives at a lake. Is it possible we have the same lake? )) Edited June 7, 2013 by greatguy Share this post Link to post
Posted June 7, 2013 Daburu paused. "Well, it is a big hole in the ground..." Xolpik said. He still didn't trust this human. "That's true, but sometimes the pygmies come by and cover it up." Maxii snarled the last words out. "Or put poison ivy in our food stock, or gang up on us and attack us, or steal from our leaf collection! What would a pygmy want with an oak leaf? Say, you haven't encountered any pygmies lately, have you?" Share this post Link to post

Posted June 7, 2013 (edited) ((Sure, it can be the same lake.)) Rey raised her eyeridges, her expression polite, but a bit caught off guard by his inability to spell. Did they teach their children nothing about the basics of language? She shrugged it off, processing his question. "We lived a little ways away from the coast, a nomadic clan to keep track of the herds but never straying too far. We had formed an alliance with the humans to keep both our tribes flourishing. We protected them, they protected us, we shared kills, shared culture. It was brilliant. But pale-face humans arrived on a giant wooden boat and landed on the shore. They built their settlement and we all tried to be cordial at first. They even named one of their towns after our clan. Called it 'Roanoke.' "Soon after, tensions between our groups kept mounting and mounting due to a war that broke out between them and their mother country. Finally a group of their huntsmen killed a hatchling of ours because the winter was so hard on them. My clan attacked and killed or forced out everyone at the settlement. Those that survived moved to Croatoan Island. We made an agreement with a clan of thunder dragons to keep out any human boat that goes looking for them. As far as I know they are still unpholding their side of the agreement. "While our clan was resting with the native humans after a hunt, the pale-faced humans charged us. They came in with guns and steel. They must have had powerful magic as well, because prolonged contact with most of them caused the weaker ones in our group to become very ill. Anyway, when they finally attacked us, they had ambushed us while we were vulnerable. Nests were destroyed and nearly everyone was murdered. A friend and I escaped but... he passed while crossing a river." Edited June 7, 2013 by CYDA LUVA83 Share this post Link to post
Posted June 7, 2013 'I see. -was all Trox could think to answer. This whole scene of humans and dragons cooperating just seemed so ridiculous to him. He was taught to not play with his food, and now there was this strange outlander telling him that they outright cooperated with it. How horrible her vision of Trox's clan might have looked if he shared how they operated before being wiped out. 'That's so weird. The Stoneclaws made short work of any and all human colonies that came into their territory. They were good sources of... nevermind. -he shook his head in disbelief, but didn't go any further. Telling her they used to use humans as a food supply would have probably upset her. Also, if nothing else, he was curious about this strange new approach to dealing with the vicious ape-like vermin. 'Shame about your friend. Who knows, they might have made it the rest of the way by water. Trox was never fond of pointless optimism, but it never really did anyone any harm. Posted June 7, 2013 "I practically live with them. Not out of choice, but yes." Yüna shuddered. "They're not orange though. They're green, and their body shape is different." Yüna paused, then said, "They may be birds, actually. I've never heard them use telepathy. "There was also a Nilia Pygmy I...saw...this morning, but it seemed to be a loner. Nilias aren't common around here anyway." Share this post Link to post
Posted June 7, 2013 Vorgin pulled out some paper and a pencil and started to sketch the dragon. He stayed quiet and made it as detailed as he could before the dragons either noticed him, or flew away. Luckily he was far away and quiet, what wasn't lucky was the wind was blowing towards the dragons giving away Vorgin's scent. Share this post Link to post
Posted June 9, 2013 "Perhaps he did survive..." Rey remarked, giving a slight shrug. The dragoness cocked her head, listening for something. When nothing out of place made a sound, she sniffed the air, looking out over the lake. Something was over there. The black tea dragon walked to the shore, her paws sinking in the mud as she peered across the water. Rey couldn't see if anything was over on the other side. "Trox, do you smell that?" She asked, looking back at him as she referred to the scent of human being blown their way by the breeze. Share this post Link to post
Posted June 9, 2013 Lirm had been running for a while before he finally stopped, panting, out of breath. A few chuckles escaped from his throat a wide grin spreading across his face. he couldn't believe he'd really done that! His chuckle almost proceeded to a cackle when he heard a fluttering of wings nearby. He looked over, surprised, to see that Misfit from earlier. She had a frown on her face. "Are you sure that wasn't a tadge, uhh... Harsh?" She questioned hesitantly, watching the smile suddenly drop off of Lirm's face. There was a moment of silence, Lrim considering his actions, what he had done. That poor human was probably in a lot of pain right now... Lirm shook his head at the misfit, grinning widely. "Naaaw. He needs to learn not to mess with pygmies, this is the best way to teach him" he said brightly. The misfit stared at him, and watched until Lirm's grin almost became pasted upon his face, bright and slightly worried. "You do now he's gonna be pissed at you now, right?" The misfit asked doubtfully, frowning now at Lrim. He laughed, slightly worried now. It had never occurred to him that the human would likely be pissed at him for his actions... And with him likely being the only Nilia pygmy in the area, he would kinda stick out like a sore thumb when spotted... Safe to say, this thought didn't appeal much to Lirm. "Ahaha, yeah, he probably is..." He chuckled nervously. The Misfit grinned widely at him, Lirm smiling nervously back. "Heh, that sure was some prank, Lirm!" She congratulated, grinning like a true Misfit. "How about I show you to the food storage areas? It's not far from here!" The thought of food appealed immensely to Lirm - he'd only managed half of that tiny fish before that human had decided to try and catch him... Nodding, he gestured the other dragon to lead, and, still chuckling, the Misfit led him into the woods. Towards a cave that was in fact, defiantly not the one the Misfit had led Lirm to believe... ((Guessing games yaaay! And back into RP. Jeez I've been gone for a while... .o. )) Share this post Link to post
Posted June 10, 2013 One of them looked his way. Getting killed on his first day here was not in Vorgin's plans. He ducked behind the tree completely with his pencil sketch of the one looking at him done. He sat their, hands on his swords just in case one became hostile. Vorgin never ran, so he waited. Posted June 10, 2013 Perking up his ears and sniffing the air, Trox caught nothing of what his new acquaintance was speaking. His senses were dull, but his guard was strong, so he usually didn't fear ambushes. 'Ye..no. -he answered nonchalantly, while Rey searched for whatever she'd sensed. 'Whatever it is, I could use a snack. -he thought maliciously as a tendril of drool dripped down his cheek to the ground while images of a nice fat freshly caught warthog, or buffalo crossed his mind. Posted June 11, 2013 (edited) Rey gave a soft chuckle and a slight look of exasperation when she saw the black's drool. "There's a human over there, Trox," she said, rearing up on her hind legs to get a better look, but the small thing had ducked behind a tree. "Want to go play with it? They're like little ragdolls." The dragoness leaned back down onto all four paws. After the attack on her home, she truly couldn't care less about humans. Edited June 11, 2013 by CYDA LUVA83 Share this post Link to post
