As far as the relationships between humans and dragons in my corner of the planet, the degree of respect that humans show for dragons, and that dragons show for humans, determines the stability of the community. Wisdom grows in maintaining this beneficial balance. If someone, dragon or human, comes along and tries to change that balance, the community works in whatever way necessary to restore the balance.

I believe I've mentioned on earlier pages, but some factions of each species are pretty friendly towards the other group, while some factions resent the other species. "Balanced" is a good way to describe it globally, across all groups.

you stated above that mana would taste really bad, but what would happen if you drank it anyway?

All of that stuff about mana transformation I mentioned a few times throughout the thread (and IIRC elsewhere).

So actually physical contact with mana (let's say it was even ingested) would hasten the affects of mana mutation to a noticeable degree, compared to generations of people simply living in close proximity of it? Are mana mutations somehow reversible, and how would someone go about doing that? Can Cassares dampen the magic of mana?

So if I (as in the DC universe avatar I made up just now for the question) drank sayyyy light mana I would glow? If so, TO THE MANA POOLS!

i have another question

are day glory drakes and drakes in general popular pets in Valkamare

i mean with the way they are described they sound like they would be popular pets

they look like dragons for added coolness and they can be trained and act like dogs

Generations of people living in "close proximity" to it would still be transformed in a short time period.

The whole evolution discussion was relative to that point, and was talking about further evolutionary adaptations on top of the mana transformation.

But yes, direct consumption would have some "pretty quick" effects.

Mutation would be reversible via some pretty heavy magic (AKA a fair amount of energy). But still risky nonetheless; it's pretty invasive biologically.

Cassares have been discussed before, and only block "active" use of mana. Most things about mana transformation count as innate magic.

I think the current frontrunner for light mana transformation is a "a glowing, slightly crystalline being."

Drakes, unlike dragons, are probably of the intelligence level where it stops being awkward for humans to "own" them. They're still pretty large, so unlikely to be housepets, but more reasonable than a dragon.

So a Howler Drake sheep"dog" would not be too far out of the question?

my best guess would be the day glory drake because its about the size of a cat and very friendly and it says that humans like day glory drakes

also, can drakes breathe fire?

I don't think drakes are cat-sized. I've talked to people about this before and forget what I said, but cat-sized is almost definitely not within their range.

As for fire, I dunno. I'm guessing not (as a general species), but it's possible for them to.

earthgirl said they where tiny

Figured this was the best thread to ask this in... is there any dragon that would be able to disguise itself as something else... say, a human?

Historically, a lot of the artists have disagreed with me on the size of their breeds (in general, I believe dragons to be larger than many of their headcanons).

Given that drakes are all one species capable of breeding with each other, they all fit within some general band of sizes. The lower end of that band does not include cat-sized, and if anything is probably closer to "large dog."

Drakes are probably larger than pygmies, with little (if any) overlap in their size ranges.

Check out this set of posts, which sounds like roughly the same question:

Do dragons hoard different things depending on species, or is it more an individual quirk? Are species of dragons predisposed to collecting, say, seashells for various water dragons, etc, that sort of thing?

The picture sets of dragon hoards of random items that's floating around Tumblr comes to mind.

I mean, if all dragons hoard shiny treasure, it seems like there'd be all sorts of issues with stealing from each other since there can only be a finite amount of such things. I remember the valentine event, and there were all sorts of things to decorate the cave with, but I can't imagine wanting to keep a pile of meat for extended amounts of time. >_>

I think that different breeds PROBABLY do like different things.

That said, I think SOME stealing and competition does occur anyway.

How do we force dragons to breed?

We don't. It's a game thing.

I have always imagined it as the dragons are gonna breed anyway, we're just watching and recording it instead of making it happen. Does that make sense? Haha xd.png

Oh my. Dragon voyeuring.

I can't imagine that being anything but awkward for everyone involved. xd.png

Lol well I figure that naturalists in our world do it to birds, so...

Though the dragons being sentient does make things a little more awkward xd.png

I always imagine that we lead two of our dragons close to each other (which explains why we can only breed two dragons that both belong to us, since strange dragons wouldn't follow us) and if they are in the mood, they do the rest. xd.png

My question:

The description of the Neglecteds states that they stay with their masters for protection because they tend to be weaker than other breeds. Are they just cautious just in case or do other breeds actively hunt them or attack them because they look sick?

This.

It would also explain why they can flat out refuse.

We can encourage them, but we don't FORCE them.
