ANSWERED:Codes ?

Recommended Posts

You know the ‘code’ eggs have, do they matter to people when it comes to trading ? And if yes, why - is there something special about the codes that I don’t know about ?

Some people collect codes that look like words, and some also breed "cool code" dragons together to make lineages:

https://dragcave.net/lineage/Dka2U

https://dragcave.net/lineage/b4Zkz

Since codes are random, they can also be words that would not be allowed in dragon names.

Warning, very rude language here: https://dragcave.net/lineage/Huvik

Some people also collect codes that begin with the letter Z. Because they started collecting them at some point, and now they can't stop. That's really the only explanation for this. (And I am a Z collector. )

There are also collectors of "name codes". These are codes that are capitalized like names and also (more or less) pronounceable, for example: Algia, Gosba, Luniz.

So yes, when you find a dragon with a special code, you might get a better trade for it than if the same dragon had just a random code.

To some people, codes are extremely important. Codes are important to some of us because of the fact that they spell words instead of just a series of random letters.

Here are some of mine for example:

https://dragcave.net/lineage/OWNDC (OWN DC which only TJ can do)

https://dragcave.net/lineage/ONe18 (One 18 a faux number code)

https://dragcave.net/lineage/24136 (number codes are especially important thus highly valued)

https://dragcave.net/lineage/altsd (I got a few people on the Discord with this one by claiming I got an alts egg xD)

https://dragcave.net/lineage/5teeM (This is my all time favourite personal one as it's close to Steam)

@Confused Cat they did a better explanation than I did but I'm not a Z collector.

Ah, that’s so cool ; o I mostly just assumed that it’s a combination, consisting of either numbers or letters, but now I know that sometimes that’s not the case and that they actually make up a name or word that makes sense.

The lineage had me cackling, thanks <3 but it’s pretty nice. And ooh, idk how far you’ve gotten with your quest, but I wish you good luck nonetheless !

Is there a way for you to see whether it’s a special code or not ?

Thanks for the explanation, I appreciate it <3 while short, it’s specific and helpful.

Oooh, I like the first two and the last one - I understand why it’s a fave of yours !

@jostensminyard Just hover over an egg to see the code or if you're on mobile, press and hold down and egg's image. A pop up should appear to view the egg's code

That’s smart, I thought you always had to click on the dragon/hatchling/egg to be able to view it. Thanks <3

What Dalek said; on the more... "imagination" side, codes are all up to personal interpretation - personally I love codes that spell out words - as some others do - as well as all numbers, palindromes and other combos that seem intriguing in a way. The more obvious meaning is there for others aside you yourself, the more valuable the code.

https://dragcave.net/lineage/3hate For example I paid a CB green Copper for this one - and I don't regret it at all. It's a perfect word and everyone can see it, even though it's "just" 4 letters.

The most perfect codes are those that make up 5-letter words, no numbers as replacements (0 as o, 3 as E, 5 as S etc):

https://dragcave.net/lineage/sIMAR

https://dragcave.net/lineage/kEeLS

https://dragcave.net/lineage/TABiD

https://dragcave.net/lineage/ROYaL

https://dragcave.net/lineage/BAgGY

Something like this would trade for a lot among code collectors. I don't think anyone would care about capitalization of those.

Ooh, so the one I’ll be posting below (as an example), would count as valuable to some people ?

https://dragcave.net/lineage/NEFYY

I’m aware that people also care about whether it’s CB or not, so that also has a say in the matter

I haven't seen many people look for 2Gs, most people prefer CBs, but I see that it's a nice one here - I would be hesitant to let it go. d: We also usually don't name them to reveal the special codes.<3
