You have always tried hard to hide your uniqueness, shying away from situations where it might be brought up. Lately, though, you have heard some disturbing news. A new organization was forming, and they claim to "cure" people like you. Why the quotation marks? For starters, almost every single person who sought out this organization was never witnessed again. In addition, there have been reports of missing people popping up all over the place. They all have something in common- they are just like you. No one seems to care, though. Why should they care about people of your kind? If anything, they're happy that you're being "taken care" of! You sigh, before quickly grabbing your wallet back as you detect an old bum trying to telekinetically slide it out from your pocket. See, even HE could do that! Why did everybody around here have to have some special power?! Police, doctors, mailmen, janitors... everyone but you! Why couldn't you just be normal? If you didn't catch it in the text above, this RP is about a world where people with abilities are considered the norm. Among the "normal" people, there are a handful of people without abilities, known as the Talentless. Generally, these people are treated as creepy freaks by those who do have talent, so they normally try to keep under the radar. In recent times, there has been talk an of an organization known as I.N.S.A.N.E. (the Institute of Normalcy, Stability, And Non-Exceptionality) that is after the Talentless under the claim that they want to help "cure them of their illness". Any Talentless that go to them for help, though, are never seen again. In addition, there have been reports of missing Talentless from all around the world. The truth is, something much more sinister is going on. Talentless subjects brought to INSANE's base are forced undergo experimentation, with consent or without. The ones that manage to gain an ability are immediately brainwashed into joining INSANE. The unfortunate ones that don't are... disposed of. You see, the main goal of INSANE isn't to cure the Talentless, but to eradicate them. Luckily, not all are ignorant of this. A few sympathetic Talented people are aware of the situation, and try to help the Talentless. However, most people in society either support the idea of INSANE helping these "handicapped" people, or ignore it, believing it to be a lost cause. Those who openly oppose INSANE are usually considered heartless weirdos, and are often treated as such. You can choose to be Talentless, part of INSANE, a Talented ally, or even some random bystander somehow caught up in this mess. Go nuts! Appearance: Serena is a pretty, but rather plain looking girl. She has straight, long brown hair that she lets down at all times and wide forest green eyes. She stands at 5'6 and her build suggests a pampered life. However, her fingers are rough and can attest to the contrary. She dislikes skirts, but likes dresses for some reason and always wears either a plain dress with flowers or shorts and a t-shirt. Personality: Selena is rather soft spoken and shy. She dislikes strangers and is afraid of being found out. However, she's great at acting and hiding her fears. History: Selena grew up orphaned, her parents dying in an accident when she was young. Her grandfather, who was an acupuncturist, took her in. She decided to study acupuncture to hide her talentlessness. Other: Selena is Talentless, but hides it very well. Otherwise, no relation to INSANE. Character Name: Raphael Josephs Gender: Male Age: 25 Talent: Criminology Intuition - To be able to instinctively know how to run a criminal organization and commit criminal activities. He possesses a natural talent of getting away with crimes and gaining illegal profit from criminal activity to make wealth and take control through corruption and fraud. Although intelligent people can do similar things if they so wish, his talent allows him to take it to a whole other level. Unfortunately, much of his talent is wasted on pranks and his small forgery business as he is neither ambitious nor cruel. Most people believe he has a dulled down/skewed version of Law Intuition, the ability to understand the workings of various laws (his talent allows him to have an understanding of how to better bend and break said laws). It gives him no permanent muscle memory and the ability is only active when he is holding the weapon or tool. It has a relatively short cool down time of only a couple of seconds to several minutes when switching abilities. It doesn't make him the best automatically, it just gives him the necessary muscle memory to operate and use the weapon/tool efficiently. The less weapon-like the tool is, the less muscle memory he is given. (Ex. Computer < Wrench < Metal pole < Machine gun) Appearance: Being the twin to Raphael Josephs, Ezekiel is exactly the same as him in appearance. The only difference is the hair and scars. Unfortunately, this comes with the price of a frail body and mind as well as narcolepsy. Appearance: Nero stands at 5'7, not very tall for his age. He's thin and fragile-looking. He has dark skin, and short, unruly, dull platinum blonde hair with dark eyes. His face is aristocratic, but thin and somewhat gaunt. He almost always has a white helmet with gold designs on and wears a grey hoodie and jeans. Personality: Nero is dark and broody, cold and emotionless on the outside. He dislikes showing emotion, but is able to act innocent to fool his parents. He hates them for his sister's disappearance and he hates his own fragility. While his feelings are intense, he makes sure to dull them as to not trigger his narcolepsy, which sends him into sleep when he gets emotional. History: Nero's sister was taken by the INSANE with his parent's lack of care. He hates both his parents and INSANE and wants to teach other's the feeling of being Talentless. He's too weak to rebel against his parents though as they take care of him. He also blames hi self for his sister' slack of talent, believing that it was his own that took the talent away from his sister. Other: Nero knows about the INSANE's doings and despises them for taking his sister. Takhesis Character Name: Stephen Walters Gender: Male Age: 16 Talent: Talentless Appearance: An athletic-looking teenager with dark hair and brown eyes, Stephen could be considered handsome, if it wasn't for a scar on his left cheek. He dresses as any normal teen - t-shirt, jeans, and trainers. On colder days and evenings, a jacket is added. He does have a quirk though - he's always wearing black gloves. Personality: To be RP'd. History: Stephen had the misfortune to be born without Talent. His parents could only tolerate it for so long.... they protected him as a young child. But as the years passed, Stephen showed no signs of any Talent developing and his parents became less tolerant of him. The scar on his cheek was from one his father's more extreme attempts to try and 'draw out' latent Talent from Stephen. Eventually his parents gave up and turned to INSANE for help. The night of that phone call - Stephen packed up and ran. He now hides where-ever he can find shelter. Other: Avoids INSANE as much as possible. TehUltimateMage Character Name: Justin Taylor Gender: Male Age: 20 Talent: Healing. Justin's talent is to mend flesh wounds and reduce physical ailments with a touch of his palms. The problem is, he refused to go to medical school to refine his sense of diagnosis so he can only reliably locate and heal surface wounds and aches. Appearance: (Here's a generic anime boy.) His hair is bleached from a dark brown to a dirty blond. Personality: Rebellious and unafraid to voice his opinion, Justin does what he wants without giving two poops about anyone else. He tries to defy society, but hates Talentless because they aren't pigeonholed into careers like some Talented are. He doesn't think he has what it takes to become a doctor -- his talent fits, but he is unwilling to take the responsibility of literally holding another's life in his hands. He prefers to avoid those kinds of situations. He'd rather dedicate his life to getting rich and getting chicks. History: Healing talents remain strong in his family line. Justin's life was already set for him before he was even born and from the moment he was brought into the world he screamed his discontent. His parents did what was best for him but Justin didn't think of it that way. Through his teenage years he either shut himself in his room or left in the morning and returned late at night. Not even his older sister (who Justin bitterly thought was the favorite child because she did what they said) could make him see reason. He ended up completing his high school education but refused to even look at prospective medical programs. Instead, he bought an acoustic guitar using his allowance and a few loans, aspiring to become a musician, a performer, and a rising star. Other: Has heard rumors of what I.N.S.A.N.E. really does, but remains unsympathetic to Talentless and would not be beneath selling them out. Character Name: Serra Taylor Gender: Female Age: 23 Talent: Diagnosis. Serra has the acute ability to pin-point the source of pain and ailments but she does not notice them initially (someone has to tell her they hurt for her to investigate). Though she is knowledgeable in treatments, she has no innate healing power. Because her talent is so minor and situational (not to mention it is considered something everyone could do with a little training), she often gets mistaken for a Talentless. Appearance: (Have a generic anime girl.) Personality: Level-headed, goal-oriented, and by-the-book, Serra gets things done effectively though she's not exactly the warmest person around. A workaholic, she puts in extra time for her studies at medical school to get all the work done and do all the extra readings. It has led her to easily cruise at the top of the class despite her lack of direct talent. On the other hand, she's not exactly rich socially (if you could call "telling people what to do" a social activity), and being a stick in the mud, some say she has no sense of humor. History: Serra's lineage has a strong history of healer talents. Even though she knew she could never be a top, world famous doctor because the talent lottery left her with a below-average ability, it didn't stop her from trying to prove everyone else wrong through diligence alone. She knew her parents liked her brother more -- they tried everything to convince him to embrace his amazing talent -- but nonetheless, Serra worked hard to get into the city's top medical school to earn their rightful praise. She got it, of course, and lives with the satisfaction that it softens the shock of her brother's fallout and… questionable lifestyle. Other: Earnestly believes what I.N.S.A.N.E. is doing is right, and wonders if Talentless simply have un-measured or unmeasurable talents. Katczinsky Character Name: Larry Deauxnim Gender: Male Age: 23 Talent: The Power of Incompetence- He can make people stupid just by talking to them. Not completely stupid, more 'lightheaded' and 'windy'; their thoughts may go blank and they might burst out weird sentences and act weird overall. If people have a strong, calm will, however, they could probably avoid this effect. If Larry feels threatened, however, this power grows stronger, and he could forcefully implement this air of brainlessness on others. Appearance: Larry Personality: Larry is generally easy going and laid back, but shows his emotions easily. He's very trusting and a little flaky. He's usually clueless and forgetful, and often talks without thinking. History: Nothing in particular... often changes jobs, or rather, often gets fired, due to his impulsive nature. He seems alright about it though. Other: MIGHT* be friends with someone from INSANE. If anyone would like to cover for me in that area, that'll be great. However, she gets defensive when people try to pry into her background. More to be developed. History: A new face in town, Catherine's been trying to lay low since she quit her job as a low-level recruiter for INSANE after hearing some unsavory rumors about it. She does not know the full extent of what they truly do, though she does not want to be associated with them regardless. Gender: Female Age: 14 Talent: She believes herself Talentless, and everyone she meets thinks so too, but she actually just has an incredibly niche Talent. Appearance: She's rather scrawny, and whatever colour her hair used to be, it's now a dirty greyish-brown. Her eyes still shine blue, despite the dirt covering the rest of her. Personality: She's a bit timid, mainly due to being 'Talentless'. History: She was shunned, and her parents rejected her, abandoning her to live on the street. She has barely survived in the three years since her abandonment, and lives in constant fear of discovery. I plan for her to eventually come into contact with an INSANE worker who tries to capture her, and as she flees, she discovers her Talent. From that point, she'll probably end up as an NPC. Appearance: Baltia is fairly small, even for her age, and has strange yellow eyes - a side effect of her peregrine falcon form, which she spends more time in than her human form. Similarly, her hair is a greyish kind of honey-blonde, and her skin is darkish. Her animal forms are typical for the animals. Personality: Baltia is incredibly mischievous, and feels above society. She is a thief, and likes to steal money and small items from shops or pockets. When stealing is impossible for any reason, she simply hunts the numerous pigeons that roam the towns and cities, or a bunny if she's near some woodland. On occasion, she dives into a lake for a fish supper as an otter, just for a change in diet. She dislikes any attempt at being held down or restrained, and has little to no concept of justice or law. She is scared of pineapples, because they are nasty and sour. Similarly, lemons and limes are held in her distaste, pineapples are just spiky as well. History: Her mother died when she was five, and she never knew her father. She's been living on the street for most of her life, making easy pickings out of the pigeons, and a good living from random passerby. Other: None! She might pick an INSANE pocket at some point. zamboza Character Name: Cailean (KA-len) Estt Gender: male Age: 21 Talent: Fast learning - he can extremely fast. Nuff said. Appearance: Boop Personality: An introvert with great mind and great wits. Not that sociable, he prefers to act alone. A computer nerd and great mathematician. Rest to be RP'd. History: Cailean was bullied since the beginning of his education - he was the only one in the school to have no talent by the age of 12. After one day of heavy bullying, he decided to do something about it - he sat all spring break over the books and discovered an odd ability - he remembered everything he had read with no need to repeat it later! Was it really his talent? The first day after the break was he lucky day - everyone recognized his talent in him and the bullying has ended. He graduated 2 years early, as the teachers couldn't let him waste in the school. Because of his vast mathematical knowledge he quickly found a job. Now he is working as a freelance programmer, who makes apps for big companies. After he heard about INSANE, Cailean started his own research about them. Thanks to the power of the internet and some shady connections he had earned through sitting on various chats and forums, it didn't take him long to realize about the true intentions of the organisation. He despised such a behavior - he established a kind of connection with secret organization of people who want to help the ones that are taken to INSANE facilities and now he does everything he can to be some use for them. He hates them. flame249 Character Name: Asha Hue Gender: female Age: 14 Talent: Shadow Sneak talent, the ability to make a person relatively invisible in shadows as long as a person hasn't already seen them (so she can sneak around in a building with no one noticing her, but she can't just disappear into a shadow immediately after being caught unless the person loses sight of her) Appearance: a scrawny frame she is often mistaken for a 13 year old which irritates her to no end, short and likes to wear her large black leather jacket and drab coloured jeans and shirt, her hair is dark brown, and she has bright green wild eyes like a hunted animal Personality: snappy and agressive due to her streetlife, however she has a fierce loyalty to friends and a softer side if you know her History: she was often ignored or not noticed by her family because of her talent, which was relatively weak at a young age and so she was considered talentless, by ten she was done by being ignored by her large and superstitious family so she leaped out the front door at night and left Other: has seen INSANE agents but generally avoids contact with them MEDUSA Character Name: Caltresi "Couch" Curacas Gender: F Age:24 Talent: Lying. [persuasion] Couch can say anything with absolute conviction and confidence. Helpful in her line of work, kidnapping Talentless children for INSANE by befriending and tricking them into running away. Appearance: Chin length black curls that make her face look innocent and young, freckles that contrast with her olive skin, a toned yet petite physique, and an almost hypnotic smile. Couch stands at 4'11," a height that makes her easily mistakable for a high-school sophomore Personality: A Pathological liar, Couch comes across as genuine and sincere, but if her ability to convince people were gone, she would appear calloused, cold, and insensitive. History: The Curacas family has roots in some of the first proposed solutions to the growing number of talentless. Lawyers, doctors, and counselors of all types are in the Curacas family, their influence assisting to accumulate wealth and power. They believe that the bloodlines of talentless are tainted, and could potentially jeapordize the current way of life, and as such have been a driving force in many civil litigation claims, petitions, and social justice movements opposing the Talentless. Couch has risen through the ranks of INSANE in hopes of rising to power within her family structure, and plans to one day become head of household. Raptor of Dragons Character Name: Zoey Smith Gender: Female Age: 21 Talent: She has the power to turn into meat eater dinosaurs. Her favorite is the velociraptor. She does have a hard time controlling some of her more bigger forms like the spinosaur as instincts take over. Appearance: Zoey is short, standing about 5' even. She has short blonde hair that partially covers her mysterious green eyes. She wears a tan t-shirt that covers her pale skin, along with blue jeans and purple shoes. Personality: Zoey is a daredevil, often getting in fights with other people with powers, most of the time, she ends up winning. She loves to run as a velociraptor often dreams of running a raptor pack, if she can find others like her that is. History: Zoey was born as a single child. Her parents had completely different talents from her. Her mother can grow eyes on the back of her head and her father has hearing like a barn owl so they were hoping she would have a least semi-normal powers. To their great surprise, when Zoey was 4 years old, she woke up one day as a dimorphodon and scared her parents half to death. Throughout the years, Zoey learned which dinosaurs she can be and which dinosaurs she can't due to primal instinct. Other: Zoey doesn't approve of what INSANE is doing. She thinks that talentless should be allowed to roam free and if she has to, she will fight INSANE to protect them. She's also hoping she can transform into a dragon one day. He almost always has a white helmet with gold designs on and wears a grey hoodie and jeans. Personality: Nero is dark and broody, cold and emotionless on the outside. He dislikes showing emotion, but is able to act innocent to fool his parents. He hates them for his sister's disappearance and he hates his own fragility. While his feelings are intense, he makes sure to dull them as to not trigger his narcolepsy, which sends him into sleep when he gets emotional. History: Nero's sister was taken by the INSANE with his parent's lack of care. He hates both his parents and INSANE and wants to teach other's the feeling of being Talentless. He's too weak to rebel against his parents though as they take care of him. He also blames hi self for his sister' slack of talent, believing that it was his own that took the talent away from his sister. Other: Nero knows about the INSANE's doings and despises them for taking his sister. Username: SL Character Name: Selena Winters Gender: Female Age: 19 Talent: Talentless, but, due to extensively studying pressure points, it appears that she has Pressure Point Intuition, the ability to recognize and pin point pressure points and use them to manipulate another's body. Appearance: Serena is a pretty, but rather plain looking girl. She has straight, long brown hair that she lets down at all times and wide forest green eyes. She stands at 5'6 and her build suggests a pampered life. However, her fingers are rough and can attest to the contrary. She dislikes skirts, but likes dresses for some reason and always wears either a plain dress with flowers or shorts and a t-shirt. Personality: Selena is rather soft spoken and shy. She dislikes strangers and is afraid of being found out. However, she's great at acting and hiding her fears. History: Selena grew up orphaned, her parents dying in an accident when she was young. Her grandfather, who was an acupuncturist, took her in. She decided to study acupuncture to hide her talentlessness. Other: Selena is Talentless, but hides it very well. Posted October 19, 2014 (edited) I was just about to type up how albinism doesn't allow for dark skin and white hair, but Pi beat me to it. Kudos. I've most definitely tackled this issue before, but albinism doesn't -- and shouldn't -- fall under the Rule of Cool. The collection of powers you have there seem OP to me, but I'm not running this show so I can't say anything more. Also, curious, why the chinese clothing for Ezekiel? Posted October 20, 2014 Hmmm here's my attempt (the one discussed via PM): Username: Takhesis Character Name: Stephen Walters Gender: Male Age: 16 Talent: Talentless Appearance: An athletic-looking teenager with dark hair and brown eyes, Stephen could be considered handsome, if it wasn't for a scar on his left cheek. He dresses as any normal teen - t-shirt, jeans, and trainers. On colder days and evenings, a jacket is added. He does have a quirk though - he's always wearing black gloves. Personality: To be RP'd. History: Stephen had the misfortune to be born without Talent. His parents could only tolerate it for so long.... they protected him as a young child. But as the years passed, Stephen showed no signs of any Talent developing and his parents became less tolerant of him. The scar on his cheek was from one his father's more extreme attempts to try and 'draw out' latent Talent from Stephen. Eventually his parents gave up and turned to INSANE for help. Posted October 20, 2014 Ugh finally got a chance to get on. @SL: Thanks for getting rid of that whole "dark but albino" thing because that does not make sense at all, as well as other reasons helpfully provided by the others. I guess I'm accepting of wacky eye and hair colors, though you should try to provide a reason for it, be it due to their power or dye or experimentation or whatever. In the case of hair dye, your character would have to afford it. Now for your scolding~ I know that those are nearly the same as Phlox and Straw and Anem, but I think they're a bit too OP this time 'round. More limitations please. Maybe Raphael can only copy powers after physical contact. Maybe there's a fixed limit for how long he can sustain it for. Maybe there are certain drawbacks to mimicking certain powers, like warping his physical appearance or capabilities or something? Maybe he'll become dependent on some powers? Try stuff. Ezekiel is... okay I guess? I'm guessing that he won't be able to explain how the weapon works to others. Basically, he gains the "instinct" to use the weapon, but no knowledge. He just... uses it? A limitation might be the time it takes for his Talent to "analyze" a weapon's capabilities increases with its complexity? IDK. Interesting taste in fashion, to say the least ^v^ Finally, Nero. I think you're better off making him more like Anem was: physically frail and can only negate the abilities of a person in range, but cannot be directly influenced by other abilities such as mind reading and healing. (If you need a refresher, here's a link to our old RP (haha I don't even remember where I was going with Bryony there -u-)) I'm gonna go ahead and accept Selena! Posted October 20, 2014 I'm going to change Raphael's power completely and take some of your other suggestions. Especially for Nero. I thought I was missing something... Just to clear things up, when Ezekiel uses his power, it gives him muscle memory only in a way where the item or tool can count as a weapon. (Such as smashing a computer over someone's head or very, very basic hacking, or, for the wrench, taking things apart with no instinct on how to put them together (although he can learn how to do that outside of his talent) and jabbing people with it between the ribs. However, if he gets something like a gun or a sword, he can use it as if he's been using it for years, but isn't particularly naturally gifted at it). And, yeah, he can't explain the workings of something to another person. Can the two still have the telekinetic 'twin bond' or will I have to settle for 'knowing each other really well' bond to not make them too OP? Share this post Link to post

Username: TehUltimateMage Character Name: Justin Taylor Gender: Male Age: 20 Talent: Healing. Justin's talent is to mend flesh wounds and reduce physical ailments with a touch of his palms. The problem is, he refused to go to medical school to refine his sense of diagnosis so he can only reliably locate and heal surface wounds and aches. Appearance: (Here's a generic anime boy.) His hair is bleached from a dark brown to a dirty blond. Personality: Rebellious and unafraid to voice his opinion, Justin does what he wants without giving two poops about anyone else. He tries to defy society, but hates Talentless because they aren't pigeonholed into careers like some Talented are. He doesn't think he has what it takes to become a doctor -- his talent fits, but he is unwilling to take the responsibility of literally holding another's life in his hands. He prefers to avoid those kinds of situations. He'd rather dedicate his life to getting rich and getting chicks. History: Healing talents remain strong in his family line. Justin's life was already set for him before he was even born and from the moment he was brought into the world he screamed his discontent. His parents did what was best for him but Justin didn't think of it that way. Through his teenage years he either shut himself in his room or left in the morning and returned late at night. Not even his older sister (who Justin bitterly thought was the favorite child because she did what they said) could make him see reason. He ended up completing his high school education but refused to even look at prospective medical programs. Instead, he bought an acoustic guitar using his allowance and a few loans, aspiring to become a musician, a performer, and a rising star. Other: Has heard rumors of what I.N.S.A.N.E. really does, but remains unsympathetic to Talentless and would not be beneath selling them out. Username: TehUltimateMage Character Name: Serra Taylor Gender: Female Age: 23 Talent: Diagnosis. Serra has the acute ability to pin-point the source of pain and ailments but she does not notice them initially (someone has to tell her they hurt for her to investigate). Though she is knowledgeable in treatments, she has no innate healing power. Because her talent is so minor and situational (not to mention it is considered something everyone could do with a little training), she often gets mistaken for a Talentless. Appearance: (Have a generic anime girl.) Personality: Level-headed, goal-oriented, and by-the-book, Serra gets things done effectively though she's not exactly the warmest person around. A workaholic, she puts in extra time for her studies at medical school to get all the work done and do all the extra readings. It has led her to easily cruise at the top of the class despite her lack of direct talent. On the other hand, she's not exactly rich socially (if you could call "telling people what to do" a social activity), and being a stick in the mud, some say she has no sense of humor. History: Serra's lineage has a strong history of healer talents. Even though she knew she could never be a top, world famous doctor because the talent lottery left her with a below-average ability, it didn't stop her from trying to prove everyone else wrong through diligence alone. She knew her parents liked her brother more -- they tried everything to convince him to embrace his amazing talent -- but nonetheless, Serra worked hard to get into the city's top medical school to earn their rightful praise. She got it, of course, and lives with the satisfaction that it softens the shock of her brother's fallout and… questionable lifestyle. Other: Earnestly believes what I.N.S.A.N.E. is doing is right, and wonders if Talentless simply have un-measured or unmeasurable talents. Share this post Link to post

I will allow for a light twin bond, meaning that they know each other well enough to finish each other's sentences to creep people out and can kinda sense when the other is in trouble, but can't outright communicate through telepathy or know exactly where the other is. ... ahahaha I'm never gonna get done with my characters... Not completely stupid, more 'lightheaded' and 'windy'; their thoughts may go blank and they might burst out weird sentences and act weird overall. If people have a strong, calm will, however, they could probably avoid this effect. If Larry feels threatened, however, this power grows stronger, and he could forcefully implement this air of brainlessness on others. Appearance: Larry Personality: Larry is generally easy going and laid back, but shows his emotions easily. He's very trusting and a little flaky. He's usually clueless and forgetful, and often talks without thinking. History: Nothing in particular... often changes jobs, or rather, often gets fired, due to his impulsive nature. He seems alright about it though. Other: MIGHT* be friends with someone from INSANE. If anyone would like to cover for me in that area, that'll be great. Posted November 11, 2014 (edited) Thanks for your form and your opinion, Katczinsky, but let's not get passive-agressive now~ I personally have no personal attachment to the title of this RP, and don't mind changing it! That being said, said ableist word in the title has a completely different meaning within the context of this RP. I suppose it'd be a bit clearer if I added periods between the letters to denote that it is an acronym, but I dunno. The takeaway is that the internet is a cruel, cruel place, and that we should just drop the subject. Also, Larry. Phoenix Wright. Yes. I will be accepting that, even if he is a semi-ripoff of his namesake. The power of spreading stupidity will be very interesting indeed. I'll try to cover for you, but don't count on me being too reliable. On that note, I will get my characters done. Eventually. Posted December 22, 2014 ((... really guys?)) Barry Candles sat on his cardboard mat as usual, trying to flag down potential donators. This time, he waved about a flimsy paper sign that read "I BET YOU 1$ YOU READ THIS" in jagged chicken scratch. In his defense, the ink from that discarded marker was running out, and it had taken quite a few tries to get anything out at all. He had hoped that the sign would attract more attention, though it did not really stop any of the many pedestrians from walking straight past him. Finally, a lone blonde woman paused near his mat, checking the street signs. Now's my chance! "Looking good, lady!" he called, putting on a grin. Said woman turned around, noticing him. "Care to help out a man in need?" He nodded towards his empty hat, then looked her directly in the eye. "I promise you, the donations will go to a good cause." The woman glanced at the street signs one last time, before shrugging and making her way over. Barry's grin widened by a few more teeth- finally some decent luck! "Do you happen to know where the nearest bus stop is?" asked the woman. "Oh." Not quite what he was expecting, but he might as well help. "You're headed in the wrong direction. Go back two blocks, make a left, and walk another block. I can't blame you for missing it- it's hard to make out the sign with all the graffiti on it." "Thanks," she replied, rummaging around in her pockets. Drawing out a twenty dollar bill, she dropped it in his hat. "You look like you've been having a rough day. Take it as payment." With that, she turned and walked off. "Thank you, miss! God bless you!" he hollered. As soon as she was out of eyeshot, he snatched the bill, whistling. He was definitely going to be able to buy dinner tonight. Possibly some drinks, too. Maybe he shouldn't have stolen whatever it was the lady had in her jacket pockets while she wasn't looking. Speaking of which, he telekinetically pulled the items out of the recycling bin he hid them behind. He frowned as he inspected his goods. Birdseed... dog treats- is she some sort of animal lover or something? A lighter, some reminders... a pack of cards for I.N.S.A.N.E? He flipped them over. Other than the organization name, there didn't seem to be anything else on it. Whoever this woman was, she must have been an interesting person.
