Life: The Abridged Series

An Anime Parody

Story

Throughout humanity’s history, there have been tales of mythical beasts with miraculous powers wandering across the globe. All throughout the world, stories about these legendary creatures have been passed around in nearly every culture. These beings shaped the people around them and inspired them to grow and develop. In modern times, it is commonly believed that such creatures were just myths, nothing more than misinterpretation and fantasy. What if these fantastical beasts were real but not in the sense that the people of old thought? What if, perhaps, they always existed and are very much still alive today?

For millenniums, a war has been fought between humans and an invading species. All around the world, portals leading to a strange new dimensions pop up without warning. Contained in these portals are eldritch abominations who wish for nothing more than to enter the earthly plane. These beings are exceeding dangerous, often using the power seeping out of the portals to control the local organisms, humans included, to do their bidding. These abominations are without a unified name and are simply known as harbingers of destruction. Their powers vary depending on the individual but one fact is clear: if just one of these beasts manages to climb out of its domain and onto earth, chaos is sure to ensue.

Luckily enough, hope is not all lost. A race of sentient bugs known as the Va’sair have dedicated their lives to protecting humanity and the planet from these devastating beasts. These bugs formed a symbiotic relationship with humans through mutual agreement. Va’sair cannot use their powers without a host to cling onto. Humans throughout history have willingly allowed Va’sair to attach themselves onto them in order to stop the incoming invasions. By implanting themselves into willing human hosts, these insects can project illusional creatures to assist their human partners fight the monsters from beyond. These illusions take the form of mythological and mystical beasts, the same ones that have been reported in history over the course of humanity’s history. These creatures can range from animals with unspecified names such as dragons or more specific beings like Bifang.

No one remembers when the Va’sair first contacted humans or the exact amount of years the fighting has been going on. The insects claim to have evolved on earth along with humanity but remained in the shadows of history, keeping themselves hidden as opposed to exposing themselves to the world. Long ago, they started to make contracts with humans, calling those who would deal with them the Gifted. These Gifted have been present every since humans walked on the earth. For thousands of years, the Gifted, with the help of the Va’sair, held the abominations at bay. Being a Gifted is not an easy task and often enough leads to a premature death but such deaths are a necessary evil. Without the Gifted, the earth would surely be overrun by the abominations that have been held out for so long.

The Va’sair claim the abominations are under the control of a woman known only as the Mother. She is reason the monsters decided to invade earth in the first place. For reasons even the Va’sair cannot explain, she has complete control over the abominations and can dictate what they do. It’s believed the oldest abomination, the strongest and biggest of them all, works with the Mother directly. Though there are many theories as to why this is so, no one, including the Va’sair, are sure how or why this abomination would work with the Mother. The only way to halt the continuous invasion of abominations is to execute both the Mother and the oldest abomination who has been given the name Warden by the Va’sair. The pair have been illusive over the years, escaping the Gifted’s grasp every time it seemed as though they were caught, but, for once, the Gifted and the Va’sair now have the upperhand. Sightings of the duo have been reported in a small inconsequential town by the name of Kankanai. If the duo can be captured and terminated, then the invasion will stop and the war will finally end. Now, the Va’sair have to take the first step to ending the war: recruit new Gifted in the small town of Kankanai.

Plot

You are a high schooler attending Kankanai High, the only high school in the small town of Kankanai, who is soon to be recruited by the Va’sair and become a newly fledged Gifted. Your life, whether exciting or as boring as the town you live in, is about to make a change for the better or the worse. You, nor anyone you know, has heard of the Va’sair, the Gifted, or the abominations before. Along with the other soon-to-become-Gifted, you attend class B-1 as your first class of the day in school. You expect the day to be like any other with your mild-mannered teacher, Mrs. Suzuki, casually teaching the class while the rowdy students in the back of the classroom goof off. Today, however, is not going to be like any other day. School has been cancelled in the light of a murder that happened on campus the previous Sunday night. You and your peers are left to your own devices and free to do as you please which is exactly what a stranger in the shadows wants. Starting today, you will be introduced into the world of the Gifted, contract with a Va’sair, and become a Gifted yourself. Your mission, along with every other Gifted’s mission, is to close the portals that are suddenly appearing around your town, protect the people living in Kankanai, keep your new lives a secret, and find out if the sightings of the Mother and Warden are true or not. It is to you to save both Kankanai and, possibly, the world from total annihilation.

Setting

Kankanai is an utterly unremarkable town, named after its founder, settled in some hills somewhere on earth. Its only notable feature, which is heavily exploited to bring in tourists, are the mysterious watermelons that only grow locally. These melons are referred to as moonmelons because they are cyan rather than a red on the inside and taste sweeter than a normal watermelon. The city government likes use the old folk tale of the moonmelons possessing magical healing properties to bring in tourists, but most citizens have enough common sense to know better. The town is split into two districts, the northern and southern district which are locally called Hightown and Lowtown respectively. These two districts are similar enough to be contained in the same town but different enough to cause some hierarchical tensions.

Lowtown is the southern district that can only be entered via the bridge connecting the two districts together. Everyone from the common middle class and under is located in Lowtown. Hightown is right across from river from Lowtown; as it is settled on a hill, Hightown is on a slightly higher elevation than Lowtown. Everyone from the upper middle class and up live in Hightown. Generally, government buildings and structures, with the exception of city hall, are located in Lowtown while buildings with projects with high budgets, such as high-end clubs and fancy restaurants, are settled in Hightown. The only way to exit Kankanai in a car is to drive down the mainroad of Hightown and off from there. If there is any construction on the main road, you’re trapped in town until further notice.

Places of interest

Kankanai High - A large white building about five stories high located next to the riverbank. Although the high school is built in Lowtown, it is evident that people from Hightown have funded the school when looking at the building’s sheer structure and the amount of effort that went into it. Along with various other trees, cherry blossoms have been planted alongside the long sidewalk leading up to the school. Students are required to wear navy blue uniforms, with either a red bow or tie attached to it, during school hours. A field and a gym have been provided for athletic classes. There is no cafeteria and most students eat their lunch in their classrooms, but quite a few people have taken to eating on the roof, in the field, and other various places on campus. In the back of a school is a giant blossom tree that many students go to confess their love for one another. School ends at 2:30 but most students attend clubs and leave at around 5:00 or so. No buses are available so most students either ride a bike, walk, or take the tram to school. There is a library right next to the school that stays open until 1am in the morning and reopens at 6am, allowing students to study somewhere in peace relatively close to the school.

The Riverbank - A hotspot for brooding teens and lovebirds, the river bank is an excellent place to hang out if you just want some alone time. The green slope is the perfect place to sit and contemplate your thoughts or watch the sunset together with a loved one. Depending on what side you’re on, you can clearly see either Lowtown or Hightown across the water. A large bridge connecting the two districts together hangs over Kumiko River. The riverbank lays on the northern side of Lowtown and the southern side of Hightown

The Forest - Surrounding all the edges, save for the northernmost part, of Lowtown is a large forest that stretches out for several miles. It’s a popular place to camp out but there is a mysterious aura about it. There have been several incidents where people got lost inside the forest, were reported missing, and then popped up years later looking exactly as they had when they entered and having no recollection of the past few years. In recent years, the forest has been nothing more than a tranquil threshold of nature with the last missing person incident having occurred seven years ago.

Glassian Park - A neat and tidy park full of nature and wildlife near the east side of Hightown. The park is well-maintained and remains a popular hangout for people of all ages. An elegant fountain is set in the middle of the park with the various paved sidewalks inside the park leading to it. The park lights shine a bright blue-violet when turned on. No one really remembers who the park was named after besides the fact that it was named in honor of two men.

Ladies’ Cafe - A maid cafe on the east side of Hightown. The entire staff consists of women with the servers being dressed in frilly maid outfits. The cafe primarily serves teas, soft drinks, sandwiches, salads, soups and sweet baked goods. Their hibiscus tea, which is normally heavily sweetened but can be left bitter if requested, and their gooey tart, yet crumbly, lemon bars are their specialty. As of late, several of the members in the Ladies’ Cafe had begun a survey to see how many of their customers would fancy the idea of the cafe being a part-time host club. They are in direct competition with Macho Man Cafe.

Macho Man Cafe - A men cafe on the west side of Hightown. The entire staff consists of men with the servers being rather muscular and outfitted with blazers that expose quite a bit of their upper body. The cage primarily serves tea, soft drinks, alcohol, sandwiches, salads, various meats, and soups. You can order the “Wall of Meat” where all of the servers will stand around you and flex their muscles for five minutes or so. The cafe’s specialty is their sweet honey baked ham which can be bought either by the pound or inside a sandwich. They are in direct competition with the Ladies’ Cafe.

The Temptress - An edgy nightclub on the south side of Lowtown in a relatively bad part of the neighborhood. It’s a surprisingly well-maintained club considering where it’s located. Nobody's really sure who runs the joint but few people care. It’s a rowdy place with loud pop music blaring out throughout it, a dance floor with disco flooring, and strobing lights that rapidly change colors. The club has a bar with an oddly vigilant bartender attending it who isn’t afraid to give out some information for the right price. Teens with fake IDs and young adults often hang out at the Temptress. There are rumors of people entering the nightclub and not coming out but none of these people have ever been identified. Those who leave the nightclub, and still have memories of what happened in there before they passed out, say that there was a strange misty feeling in the air as though they were dreaming and nothing happening in the club was real.

The Warehouses - Located in west Lowtown are an array of warehouses used by several local businesses for storage. The buildings themselves are unappealing rectangular blobs with little to no interesting qualities. While a majority of the warehouses are still used, some of them have been abandoned and left to rot with age. Recently, Workers have reported strange happenings in the warehouses such as equipment shutting off on its own and strange figures walking around in particularly dangerous areas of the warehouses. The abandoned warehouses are, in particular, extremely dangerous as the old equipment was never removed, allowing it to be a danger to anyone who decided to fiddle with it. It's become somewhat of a hazing process for daredevil teenagers to enter the abandoned warehouses and collect some object or turn a certain machine on. The local authorities have discouraged such activities but little has been done to stop the raucous teenagers.

Ancient Temple - An old temple whose name has been lost to time. The temple is a little ways into the forest on top of a small hill. Stone stairs have been placed onto the hill to give people easier access to the temple. The temple itself is follows Zenshūyo style with a fixed garan composition and layout that includes two gates, a main hall, a lecture hall, and a chief abbot's residence that are aligned to the north and southern sides of the building. There's a bath house without water and a sutra repository on the east side and a monks' hall on the west. The debris scattered throughout the temple and the telltale signs of animals living in the halls clearly show that the temple has not been maintained. On occasion, visitors can find recently snuffed candles or chalk etchings throughout the building but most people assume any mysterious activity is the result of rowdy teenagers trying to scare people. The temple itself has a tranquil atmosphere which leads to some people walking to the temple just to get some peace and quiet.

The Va'sair

A sentient race of beetle-like beings. Although a hivemind, the Va’sair do retain some individuality to the point of most outsiders not realizing they’re a hive mind in the first place. They have a gem-like shell on their back that can be a solid color or a mixture of up to four colors. Va’sair are generally small but can vary in size with smaller Va’sair being around the size of a penny and larger Va’sair being the size of the palm of a human’s hand. A Va’sair’s size depends just how it will affect a Gifted if it were to contract one. A larger Va’sair would grant its host stronger powers and give them weapons such as a powerful gun or a war hammer; however, Gifted with larger Va'sair often tire more quickly in battle than say a Gifted with a smaller Va'sair. Va’sair generally avoid humans but, in the event that they are caught for one reason or another, they will most likely try to form a contract with whoever caught them. If no contract is made, the bugs will simply find a way to escape and be off on their way. If contract is made, the Va’sair will literally dig into their partner’s skin until nothing but their shiny shell is exposed; the experience is excruciatingly painful for sure but ultimately worth it. The newly contracted Gifted will be able to speak with their Va’sair telepathically and can communicate with other Va’sair and Gifted using the same process. The Va’sair are completely visible to everyone. As such, Gifted usually end up covering whatever part of their body the Va’sair is in. Normally, two Va’sair cannot contract the same Gifted as human bodies are not prepared to handle the craziness of two Va’sair latching onto their body. The closer a Va’sair is embedded near a major organ, the stronger their powers are; however, there are some unseen consequences to this.

Gifted are awarded amazing powers for forming a contract. By merely rubbing their hand against their Va’sair’s shell, dubbed the gem, they will be enveloped in a brilliant light and adorned in a combat outfit based upon their personality and weapon. A Va'sair's gem must be exposed at all times when transformed. Gifted can pull their signature weapon out of their gem. This is shown as a bright light, similar to the one that appears around the Gifted when first transforming, as the weapon is pulled out of the gem before the light disperses, exposing what the weapon truly looks like. When a Gifted transforms, the Va’sair project a familiar beside the Gifted which will readily help them in whatever task is at hand. The color of the weapon, familiar and outfit of a Gifted completely depends on their gem’s color. A red gem will create a red outfit, red familiar, and red weapon, a yellow and green gem will create an outfit, familiar, and weapon of the same color as well and so on. A Gifted’s hair and eye color can change when they transform, but they will never grow extra appendages or lose any physical traits beyond their hair and eyes color. A Gifted can revert out of their transformation at will, if they can no longer battle, or if the Va’sair is cut out of the Gifted’s body. While Va’sair cannot stop a Gifted from transforming, they can remove themselves from a Gifted’s body at will, however, doing so is costly. A Va’sair will only remove itself from a Gifted if it feels as though drastic measures need to be taken and it can no longer work with the Gifted.

The Abominations

The abominations are monsters from another dimension trying to crawl their way onto earth. The Va’sair claim that they are mindless husks that have decimated life in their own world and are now blindly making their way towards whatever source of life they can find which, unfortunately, just so happens to be earth. The abominations attempt to enter the moral plane by opening up portals in various locations. These portals can be anything from giant swirling holes in the air to commonplace doors. Portals show up without any warning and almost always pop in areas populated by humans. A portal will begin affecting the behavior and thoughts of the people who are around it almost immediately. In less than a week, the abomination can have complete control over the humans that were unlucky enough to find their way into its grasp. These newly mind-controlled humans are called the Beguiled and they will do just about anything to further the abominations’ goal. Depending on the abomination, the Beguiled may act differently from one another. One group of Beguiled may viciously attack anyone who enters the portal’s vicinity while a different group may try to lure people towards the portal in hopes that their minds will also become affected by the abomination’s power.

The monsters themselves vary in appearance. Some may look distinctly like one type of creature while others will look completely bizarre. The size of these creatures differ depending on how old and strong the abominations are. Generally, abominations range between the size of big cats, such as tigers, and whales. As the abominations cannot crawl out of the portal until it becomes large enough, the only way to defeat them is to enter their portals and kill them from within it. The dimensions that the monsters live in are just are peculiar as the creatures themselves. The portals lead to outlandish worlds where objects float in the air, the terrain is unstable, and the weather is willing to change in the blink of an eye. Smaller monsters, normally no bigger than a horse, roam these dimensions, ready to attack any foreign lifeform they see. Finding an abomination in its own realm isn’t difficult, killing them is. Each abominations has different weaknesses and strengths and it is up to the Gifted to figure out how to kill them. Once killed, abominations will begin to deteriorate at a quick pace while the world around them collapses. It is important that the Gifted who kill an abomination exit the dimension through the portal quickly before the portal closes, leaving them stranded in the collapsing world around them. The Beguiled affected by the portal and the abomination within it will revert back to normal, having a terrible headache and remembering nothing that happened since their minds became warped.

  • This RP is reminiscent of anime clichés and stereotypes. You must keep this in mind when making a character sheet. Over-the-top dramatic characters are welcome here.
  • Although the location of Kankanai is not explicitly said, the setting, like in most animes, is going to be heavily influenced by Japan. Keep that in mind when writing posts. Username: Doctortear

Name: Kinoshita Hiroto

Age: 17

Gender: Demiboy

Trope: Tsundere White Hair, Dark Heart

Appearance: As he suffers from albinism, Hiroto’s skin and hair lack of color, leaving him to be strikingly pale. His skin is obscenely white, leaving him with a rather ghostly appearance. His white hair is long, reaching down to his chest in both the front and back, and left in a disheveled state. It’s poorly maintained and its uneven cut is a result of nearly eleven years of self-trimming.His piercing red eyes are normally covered by a thick pair of sunglasses that are left on for both protection and for cool and mysterious points. Hiroto is somewhat short for his age, standing at around 5’4”. He has a lithe build that, along with years of consistent exercise, grants him great flexibility and maneuverability. Hiroto possess an oval face with a small nose and thin lips. He has a prolonged scar on his left wrist but he tends to keep it hidden at all times. Hiroto has far more piercings, or buttons as he affectionately calls them, than anyone needs. These piercings themselves appear to be little white studs that are located on his nose, tongue, ears, right eyebrow, and other places of his body that are not visible in public. He normally wears light clothing during the day and switches to darker clothing when the sun begins to set. If he isn’t stuck in a school uniform, he is commonly seen in hoodies with plain jeans and sneakers. He normally keeps his hoodie up and jacket zipped if at all possible and makes sure to cover up as much skin as possible. As his condition has been acknowledged by Kankanai High, he is allowed to wear his sunglasses during school hours.

Personality: Although he means well, Hiroto can’t help being a hot-headed rascal who needs to learn when to shut his mouth. His haughtiness and tendency to blurt out whatever is on his mind can easily make him come off as insensitive. He isn’t afraid to compliment himself in public and will often try to get others to praise him as well. He is brutally honest to everyone and isn’t afraid to share his opinion even if it’s not wanted. As he has a hard time conveying his feelings, Hiroto uses insults and thinly veiled compliments to get his point across. He is forever stuck a perpetually struggle of wanting to help others but not wanting to flat-out say so he often does assists without them knowing or bullies them into not acknowledging the fact that he helped them out of their goodness of his heart. Hiroto is especially bad at expressing affection in both a platonic and romantic sense. Because of this, Hiroto’s initial reaction to feeling any form of affection or to receiving affection is explode into a mess of screeching, long-drawn out explanations as to why he doesn’t appreciate being patronized, and fleeing from the scene before anyone can comprehend what just happened.

When Hiroto is passionate about something, he will go off on tangents about said subject. Such ramblings will normally end up in him deflating after realizing how long he was talking and going uncharacteristically silent. Oddly enough, Hiroto loves to tease his peers and see their reactions to said teasing; however, he absolutely loathes being teased himself and will easily get flustered if it happens to him. He is extraordinarily guarded regarding personal matters and will be quick to change the subject if is brought up. That said, he has no problem digging into the personal lives of others although he will be no means pressure someone if they do not wish to speak of such matters. When it comes to working as a Gifted, Hiroto is absolutely ecstatic about his job. He revels in the ecstasy of fighting and thoroughly enjoys the thrill of the fight. He is general more carefree and relaxed when tending to Gifted matters and isn’t afraid to throw away all sense of seriousness for a fun over the top brawl.

History: Born and raised by a single mother, Hiroto didn’t exactly have an easy life. With his mother being a traveling performer, he traveled around often and didn’t stay in one place for longer than a few months. As such, Hiroto had an ever changing friend group and had to learn had to adjust to his new environments each time he and his mother moved. To him, his mother was his idol. She was extraordinarily kind, a wonderful singer and dancer, well-liked by her peers, and, all in all, seemingly flawless in his eyes. He absolutely adored her and craved to be just like her. So when his beloved mother died in a car accident when he was the ripe young age of seven, he was devastated. Hiroto moved in with his aunt who was the polar opposite of his mother. He loathed his aunt for not being his mother and he cursed the world for taking away the one constant of his life. His entire world had been torn apart and Hiroto began to lose interest in living in the world entirely. It wasn’t until he caught a strange, but beautiful, beetle did his life change for the beetle. This beetle turned out to be a happy-go-lucky Va’sair by the name of Cordelia. She extended the offer of a contract to Hiroto who, having nothing to lose, accepted the offer. He traveled across the island, stopping abominations from entering the earthly realm and earning himself the title of the Dancing Ember. When the news about the supposedly sightings of the Mother and Warden came forth, Hiroto, now an experienced fighter, hurried on over to Kankanai with the intention of taking the duo down once and for all.

Va’sair: Cordelia is a cheerful Va’sair who can easily be considered aggressively friendly. She is overly jovial even in the most dire of situations. She is all for working together as a team and enjoying every minute of her life. In her eternal search to make friends, Cordelia often tries to force people together, something that Hiroto is deeply disturbed by. If someone doesn’t want to be her friend then it becomes Cordelia’s life goal to befriend them. She absolutely despises internally fighting within groups, whether it be minor or major, and is quick to start long drawn-out lectures about how friendship is the most powerful force of the world and love binds them together. Cordelia is a medium sized Va’sair, being the size of two bottle caps or so. She has embedded herself in Hiroto’s chest, right over his heart.

Familiar: Peryton, a stag with the wings and tail feathers of an unspecified bird. While the majority of her body is the same color as her gem, her horns and eyes are fully orange and emit a soft glow.

Gem Color: The main body of the gem is onyx with orange cracks etched into it. These cracks give off the illusion that they are moving, much akin to that of an ember

Armor: When transformed, Hiroto adorns a rather revealing outfit. His chest is protected only by a thin layer of gray hosiery that extends all the way down to his wrists and feet. He has a thin translucent veil over his mouth and nose. A black metallic gorget protects Hiroto’s neck and extends out towards his shoulders. Ankle and wrist bracers made from the same metal and color grip Hiroto’s arms and legs. These pieces of metal have the same animated orange cracks that his gem has. He wears a cape in the form of two black wings reminiscent of Cordelia’s peryton wings that hang down his back. Hiroto’s pants are little more than black cloth wrapped around his waist in the form of a makeshift skirt. The cloth itself splits down the middle and reaches down several inches above Hiroto’s knees. An orange cloth belt is wrapped around the skirt with a long flap connected to it dangling down between Hiroto’s legs. Said flap reaches down to a little below his knees. Hiroto wears black wooden geta to protect his feet from the elements.

Weapon: Hiroto wields a yumi that is at least three feet longer than him. The yumi itself appears to be fashioned from glass fiber with a wooden laminate core. The yumi is the same shade of black as Cordelia’s gem. The string is a bright orange that that illuminates a soft glow. When Hiroto pulls the string of the yumi, orange arrows materialize from the air. These arrows are extraordinarily hot and explode into flames five seconds after contact. Said arrows cannot be stopped once they are released from the string and the flames they turn into persist even after Hiroto cancels his transformation.

Other: Hiroto inherited his mother’s dancing abilities and her strong singing voice although he easily gets embarrassed when asked to sing. He loves spicy food and is a decent cook.

Let's see here

-Are crazy hair colors okay (this is supposed to be cliche after all)

-Can my character be this to the point of almost being meta and that one guy who has an infinite amount of lollipops

-this is a stretch, but magical fairy wings and fairy dust attacks (who's this Evergreen you speak of) as a weapon

I'm going overboard aren't I

Isn't Dangerously Genre Savvy 1. usually reserved for villains, and 2. more to do with deadly competence than lampshading/wacky meta hijinks/whatever?

Anyway this... certainly is a thing. Save me Emotionless Girl/Insufferable Genius/Intelligence Equals Isolation? I might not be able to follow through though depending on circumstances so if anyone else wants em that's no big deal

Well yeah it is but i was gonna have him try to act like a villain (Chuunibyou) but fail all the time because he's actually a pushover

Oh boy, lot's of questions to answer.

@Thael

Like Nar said, any characters from the last Life are most likely going to have to be tweaked around a bit. The point of joining this thread is making characters based on Anime tropes and them laughing about it. This is supposed to be pretty casual so trying to make serious characters is out of question. I don't have your sheets saved anywhere so unless you can find them somewhere, I can't really help you there. If you're still willing to join, I'll be glad to have you and if you decide you don't want to join I'll be sorry to see you go but I understand!

@Spyro

1) But of course! What kind of parody would this be without wacky hair colors?

2) If you can make the trope work, I'll allow it but you have to accurately display the trope. As Pi said, that trope and the description of what you want don't match. Be sure to use the correct tropes!

3) I have no idea how fairy dust would work as a weapon, but if you can accurately describe it to me I might let it pass. As for the fairy wings, read through the IC again. I already answered that question.

That fact that you're gunning for a villain is a bit worrying to me. The antagonists of this story of the abominations and the Beguiled and there's no way for your character to work with either of them unless he turns into a Beguiled but uh, that's not allowed. The fact that you said you'd join last time and then never sent me in a sheet also has me worried. This is by all means a casual RP but I'm not sure I'm going to let you in if you only post twice. Are you going to stick around for two pages or is joining this sort of a spur of the moment sort of thing?

@Mage

Ohhh friend, I hope you don't feel obligated to join just because I'm in HB. Would you like me to reserve Cookoolander for you?

@Pi

It's completely fine if you end up not joining! I'll go ahead and put the reserves up in case you do end up joining.

I'm a bit surprised this received as much attention as it did in the first day of it being posted. I should mention that this Life is designed differently from the originally. After the first post, it's open world. Everyone is free to explore the town to their leisure and interact with whomever they wish. I have events and NPCs set up for nearly every location so you're bound to run into some plot related event.

In the last thread, I allowed people to make school clubs and send me ideas for new locations. I will be doing that for this thread as well but not just yet. Once we have the majority of the sheets in, I'll be opening up applications for that. Welcome back to those of you who joined the first thread and greetings to those who are joining for the first time. It'll be my pleasure to write with you all.

Okay when i said fairy wings I meant ethereal wings he could summon and dismiss at will and not like biological wings growing out of his back. As for the fairy dust, it's just magical dust his wings produce. He can control it telekinetically, and create shields and some other stuff out of it. He can also detonate it as a direct attack, but it doesn't do much except in high concentrations.

And as for the tropes, I probably was wrong on that matter. Ironically, given the trope being dealt with. But yeah, the one Pi suggested was what I meant.

Hmm, I don't see how ethereal wings bypass the "no extra appendages" rule so I'm going to say no to that. If the wings are like Hiroto's and are just part of the costume, that would be okay but they're not so I'm going to say no to that.

As for the trope, again, if you can use it properly turn by all means go for it. I look forward to seeing how you utilize it. I presume the fact you ignored my question means you are planning to stay around this time around?

Sorry for the double post, but I have something important to say.

I made a chatroom! You can find it here. If you don't join with your username, please identify yourself after you join. If y'all would prefer to move the chat to Skype, I'm fine with that. I'm hoping we start before the summer but I understand if we can't.

Once again, the armor paragraph is twice as long as everything else.

b]Username:[/b] MrSpyro

Name: Felix Midori (i cAN EXPLAIN)

Age: 15

Gender: o->

Tropes:

-Either Genre Savvy or Wrong Genre Savvy depending on the circumstances

-Chuunibyou

-A dash of Deadpan Snarker

Appearance: Felix is Shorty McSmalls and rather skinny, so people often think he's younger than he actually is. He has hair the dull pink color of crappy bubble gum that curls in towards his face, bright green eyes, and peachy, almost pinkish skin. He wears fingerless gloves to hide his Va'sair and, when not in uniform, he wears an old-fashioned aviator jacket (with the woolly stuff on the inside) he doesn't know where he got, plain jeans, and plain sneakers.

Personality: Felix is a chuunibyou-level hyper geek. He will talk for hours on his favorite comics and tv shows and video games. Some people think he's delusional, because of the way he talks all elaborately while in chuuni mode, fantasizes about anything and everything that isn't real, and tries to bring some kind of trope into every situation. Also occasionally snarkastic, but only when in public.

History: He was born to a father from Kankanai and a mother from a city heavily influenced by France, both super rich due to owning large corporations. His parents always disapproved of his geek-ness and expected him to grow out of it because they believed he'd never get anywhere in life, let alone run two entire companies, obsessing over manga heroes and stuff. Things were super tense, and it escalated to his parents threatening to take him out of public school and taking complete control of his education, social life, and pretty much everything. Of course, he didn't want that, so he wrote his own manga under a pen name (but making his parents aware of it) and it quickly became a bestseller, raking in a lot of money. His parents were super startled by his talent and backed off, and he even convinced his father to sponsor a movie adaptation of the first book.

Va’sair: Deltora-A Va'Sair about the size of a strawberry and located on Felix's palm, near the base of his thumb. Generally no-nonsense, and doesn't say much except for self-pitying and calling out mistakes.

Familiar: Treant- It looks like a large oak tree, but it has a face and can grow to attack with branches and roots and other plant matter.

Gem Color: emerald green with what looks like a small pink flower in the middle.

Armor: While transformed, Felix wears a dark green cloak with a hood and light green trim with a clasp that looks like a pink, flower-shaped jewel with two cloth "leaves" on either side of it and gold pauldrons with plates resembling leaves on top of his shoulders. Underneath the cloak, he has a sleeveles forest green tunic that reaches his knees and is trimmed with a light greenish-gold fur, a golden half chestplate bearing a butterfly-wing emblem on top of it, and two belts crisscrossing around his waist with the same emblem in the center. He wears dark green renaissance pants tucked into brown boots, gauntlets that match his pauldrons, and a gold circlet with a jewel matching the one on his cloak clasp. Three sets of light pink fairy wings appear on his outfit; one behind his ears, one on his pauldrons, and one on his boots.

Weapon: Felix, rather than using a conventional weapon, has the ability to summon what can best be described as, in his own words, "fairy dust." It looks like a cloud of glowing pink dust when unused, but he can control it telekinetically to make shields to block attacks, ribbons to entangle enemies, and all kinds of other stuff. He can also detonate it, but the explosions aren't very large, so he usually creates tightly packed orbs and projects them towards foes, causing blasts of a similar size of a grenade. Due to controlling his weapon telekinetically as opposed to physically wielding it, Felix has put lots of concentration into combat, which makes him more vulnerable while distracted.

Other: Is it okay if he has a sort of quasi-friendship with Hiroto?

I was gonna PM it, but the thread was being neglected and needed love.
