((Alright, his understanding of English probably has improved but he's still pretty bad at speaking it))

It had been some time but he didn't really mind. While their friendship had it's rocky moments at the beginning, Shoal was clearly much more content with Max's presence now and even became frustrated when she didn't visit often enough. When such times occurred, it wasn't uncommon for Shoal to leave his tank and wander around until he found whatever she was doing elsewhere and whined loudly until she came back. He still was a bit irritated when anyone decided to come swimming with him, but he obviously wasn't as hostile with her as he was with anyone else. The rest had yet to earn his trust in the same way.

But it was early on in the morning today and if there was one thing Shoal had learned, it was that humans didn't often show up until the sun came up. Lurking in the bottom of his tank, he buried himself under the sand as he waited rather impatiently for Max to show up for the day. He had woken up much earlier and, too awake to return to sleep, all he could do was wait for her to come. But that didn't make it any less boring.

Max grinned. She came very early to move him to the new tank. This one had real seaweed, a large wrecked ship and the tank was huge! She had modified it so real looking concrete rocks with crevices covered the walls, any glass was one way and covered to look like sand (mostly the glass tunnel on the bottom), rocks or out of sight. It was made for seals so a large space had lots of sunlight and room for the seals to lay, but this was empty of animal life so far. Once he was comfortable in the new and bigger areas, they can bring in some friends for him. She even made sure during a checkup, to move his shiny stash and scattered throughout the tank in crevices and such, most well hidden, was costume jewelry and other shines, the ship contained lots of plastic coins covered in the bitter stiff in case a seal might eat one, all around a chest he can shut and place things inside if he wanted to.

She brought a picture book to teach him more words and phrases. She slipped in her wetsuit and crept along the catwalk. Knowing that he'd notice a disturbance in the water, she remains out of sight and flicked some of the sand in the water. Then she tossed a coin in. When he got to the surface she smiled. "Morning shoal! We move today. Breakfast? Got to follow.." She said giggling as she lead him the long way to the new tank, stopping to douse him with water so he wouldn't dry out.

The mermaid looked upwards in surprise but quickly surfaced, holding the coin in his hand. Nodding quickly, he grabbed ahold of the sides of the tank and lifted himself up, dragging himself onto the catwalk with only a small amount of difficulty. Why did he have to follow her to get food today? Having him work for his food wasn't a new concept but he disliked having to get out of the water and follow her around just to get some food. Chasing fish in the wild would not be as hard as this was.

Whining loudly, he followed Max across the catwalks before finally stopping several feet behind her. Acting very dramatic, he rolled onto his back with a loud groan and sprawled out, refusing to move any further. He was hungry now. He didn't want to have to keep walking just to follow the promise of food.

"Oh come now! I have shrimp and lobster for you! And oysters. All cracked and ready. You're getting more room now! Lots of room with lots of shines! Don't make me carry you.." She warned playfully as she moved closer and tickled his belly. She knew he hated being carried. "It isn't much farther now.. only that way.. "She pointed down the ramp where it went into a wide doorway. Water can be seen from there. The pumps where also quieter. She held out a piece of his favorite fish for him to have a snack and entice him further.

The whining became significantly louder as Max walked back over to him. Rolling back and forth a few times, he grunted before finally flopping onto his stomach, snatching the piece of fish as he did so. Grunting and complaining the entire time, he slowly crawled forward, slinking into the larger pool. After making it to the point where he could float instead of crawling, the merman turned back around and stared at Max, waiting for her to get the food she had promised him. He was hungry and it had been really difficult to refrain from eating the fish in the smaller pools during the night.

As soon as he was off the rock the platform lead too and into the water she brought out the food on a platter she was going to get rid of anyway (because it was shiny and he may take it) with pieces of salmon, tuna, his favorite fish, lobster, shrimp, and two oysters. he'd seen him eat, and she figured this would be enough. "Here you go. you like the new place? lots of room. Five seals will be with you to play when you are comfy ok?" She said carefully setting the food in front of him.

Shoal looked delighted at the sight of the food. Grabbing ahold of the tray, he dragged it into the water and carefully let it float on the surface before gently plucking pieces of fish off the tray. He clearly favored the fish over the shellfish and ate all of the scraps of those before moving on to the lobster. Looking more confused than anything, he banged the shellfish on the rock platform a few times before glancing up at Max and nodding. Quickly he turned back to the lobster, trying to figure out what to do with it.

Max loved working here, and although she worked with the sea animals, she worked mostly with carnivorous ones so she can eat fish without regrets. She herself had a lobster. It was cooked unlike his. His and max's where pre cut too. "Shoal, watch." She flipped it over and peeled open the lobster from the bottom. She pulled out a chunk of meat in her and ate it. Lobster for breakfast. She loves this job. "See? Good. Very good."

The merman watched Max carefully before mimicking her actions. Flipping the lobster over, he dug his nails into the cut made there and pulled the shell apart. Unsure of what to do with it, he placed it on the outer area of the pool so it wasn't floating in the water and began eating the lobster now that it was exposed. While it certainly wasn't his favorite compared to others, he wasn't disappointed and ate as much as he could from the tail before setting the rest of the lobster next to the shell outside of the pool. Stretching out slightly, he paused before laying down on the rocky ramp leading into the pool, content on relaxing on his back. Compared to the ocean, he had very few cares here. There were no predators and certainly no one he needed to worry about. It was nice not having to worry about that, especially when most of his food was just given to him. Glancing over at Max, he tilted his head slightly to the side, watching her carefully. Did she have something in mind today? Maybe she'd teach him more of the language humans spoke. He didn't know.

Max brought out the picture book and sat next to him so he can see it easily. "You want to know more words? Say the ones you know and we'll learn new ones now. Okay?" She asked.
