Posted June 2, 2015 House Blackfyre was created when King Aegon IV (NOT the same Aegon as the current king) legitimized his natural-borns, including Daemon Blackfyre, the founder. However, our lineage doesn't exactly match the Game of Thrones canon, and it would have been difficult to get a natural born from Aegon given the waiting list, so I had to make do. As I understand it, Daemon was the son of King Aegon IV Targaryen and his cousin Daena Targaryen, and his canonical wife was Serena Blackfyre. Posted June 3, 2015 (edited) Having not read the books or seen the series or bothered finding anything out outside of what is mentioned here, my vote is purely out of what will be most fun. I'm not sure what I'd like falls neatly into any of those... Pure Blackfyres get their own list. Let's refer to them as Blackbloods rather than Purebloods for simplicity. They are trying to outnumber Targaryens as a rival-ish project would be cool, but it shouldn't affect ownership in any way. Some projects require owning just one of the two types, but I don't like that restriction so I'd prefer it wasn't in place. They are pure-blooded, but they should be exactly opposite from the Targaryen line and so any combined children would be considered natural-born. That, or the combined children create a new line. You could even go so far as to say that the child of both Blackfyre and Targaryen is either Blackfyre or Targaryen, depending on which parent is lower gen. The lower the generation the stronger the blood, or something like that. Anyway, extensive ideas but basically purebloods of a different kind. They get their own list but are treated like any other pureblood. Edit - ohh... I didn't realise Lord Daemon was a Hookfang... I guess I wasn't reading enough of the thread. That changes everything! The Blackfyres should be treated as a rival project, with their own lists and stuff. A child of Targaryen and Blackfyre is Blackfyre or Targaryen depending on breed - Blackfyre if Hookfang and Targaryen if Bloodscale. Posted June 3, 2015 I just bred my Targaryens and I have a new egg! Offspring of Mwall and Ayikh. I'll add in a link after the exam that starts in about five minutes and I haven't revised for. Also, my Fanghooks are fully grown and I will breed them at a similar time, probably before I edit this so I can add the egg link as well. Who was it who wanted a gendered Plated Colossus hatchie for freezing? I captured a CB and it's an ungendered hatchie right now, so if whoever had to abandon one for a Targaryen would like to complain at me and take it, please make yourself clear. It'll probably be a while until they make a bloodscale since new releases almost always breed their own species. Here's a quote from the Game of Thrones wiki for those of you that don't follow the series/don't know about House Blackfyre: House Blackfyre is an extinct noble house from the Crownlands. A cadet branch of House Targaryen, House Blackfyre was founded by Daemon Blackfyre, a legitimized Great [Natural-Born] of King Aegon IV Targaryen. House Blackfyre is named for the Valyrian steel sword of the same name. Their sigil was a black three-headed dragon, breathing black fire on red, the Targaryen sigil with the colours reversed. Their motto is unknown. Among the traits passed on to the Blackfyres by the Targaryens were platinum blond hair, violet eyes and the premonition-like dragon dream ability. House Blackfyre was founded by Daemon Blackfyre, a [natural-born] son of Aegon IV Targaryen, after he was legitimized by his dying father in 184 AC. Daemon inverted the Targaryen arms for his coat of arms and named the house after the sword Blackfyre that his father gave him when he was twelve. The sword had been the personal weapon of the first Targaryen king, Aegon the Conqueror, and all his successors. However, the rebellion was snuffed out quickly by Bloodraven before it could spread beyond Whitewalls and several key Blackfyre supporters were killed. The remaining sons and their descendants attacked the Seven Kingdoms three more times. Third Blackfyre Rebellion In 219 AC, Bittersteel launched a new invasion after crowning Haegon Blackfyre. It was late in the reign of King Aerys I Targaryen, who was not very involved in ruling, but his younger brother Maekar's leadership during the conflict was commendable, as was the courage of his youngest son Aegon "Egg" Targaryen. Aerion Brightflame was also active in its events. The war featured the second duel between Bittersteel and Bloodraven. At the end of the final battle Haegon I was dishonorably killed after he surrendered and had given up his sword. Bittersteel was taken captive and in chains to the Red Keep, yet while Brightflame and Bloodraven both urged that he be executed, Aerys I foolishly offered him mercy, sending him north to join the Night's Watch. The Golden Company learned of this through their informants and attacked the prisoner transport as it sailed to Eastwatch-by-the-Sea. Before the year was over, Bittersteel had returned to Tyrosh and crowned Haegon's eldest son as Daemon III Blackfyre. Great Council of 233AC After the death of King Maekar I Targaryen in 233 AC, there was no definitive heir to ascend the throne, so the Hand of the King: Lord Bloodraven, called a Great Council. Aenys Blackfyre, writing from exile, put forth his claim to the Iron Throne. Lord Brynden offered him safe conduct to King's Landing so Aenys could present his claim in person, and as soon as Aenys entered King's Landing he was seized by the gold cloaks and dragged to the Red Keep where he was executed. His head was presented to the lords of the Great Council, as a warning to any who might still have Blackfyre sympathies. Fourth Blackfyre Rebellion In 236 AC, Daemon III Blackfyre led the Fourth Blackfyre Rebellion, landing at Massey's Hook. The rebellion had little support, however, as people thought the Blackfyres to be done, as tattered as their banners. At the Battle of Wendwater Bridge, Ser Duncan the Tall slew Daemon III Blackfyre. Bittersteel retreated across the narrow sea again, and the war was quickly over. War of the Ninepenny Kings The last attack of the Blackfyres occured when Maelys "the Monstruous" Blackfyre, head of the Golden Company, joined forces with a number of ambitious men and eventually invaded the Stepstones in 260 AC as a base for a future invasion of the Seven Kingdoms. King Jaehaerys II sent an army that defeated the rebels.[9][7] Maelys I was killed in single combat by Ser Barristan Selmy, who cut a bloody path though the Golden Company's ranks to get to Maelys.[10] According to Illyrio Mopatis the Blackfyres were extinguished in the male line when Maelys Blackfyre was slain.[11] What happened to the female line is currently not known. Tl;dr: The Blackfyres are a line of natural-borns that were legitimized by King Aegon IV before leading a series of revolts against the Targaryens that ultimately ended in failure. Posted June 3, 2015 I'm actually favoring option #3, having the Blackfyre line be considered full-blooded Targaryens, simply because King Aegon IV legitimized his natural-born son and gave him a very important sword too - the very one that Aegon the Conquerer used (a very important person!). But splitting them as two separate lines (for the same reason they have two separate banners) is alright with me too. Kind of like the Stark and Karstark families - same blood, separate banners, now rivals. It's up to you, though. I too would like a pair of the Blackfyre line! Share this post Link to post
