Encylopedia: Quicker access to specific entries

We've got a rapidly growing number of dragon breeds and an encyclopedia entry for each. Currently there is no way to easily and quickly access a specific page, as the encyclopedia pages are numbered and not labelled by dragon name. If I want to find a certain dragon I have to look for its specific sprite among lots of others, something made more difficult by the fact that I don't even know if I've unlocked this certain breed.

 

I'd like to be able to jump to specific breeds more precisely. I'd be happy with simply having Ctrl + F work on the encylopedia page. If that's not possible, a list of breeds with links to their pages would be great--at least a list of breeds we've unlocked?

 

Other solutions would also be welcome. I'd just like to see an alternative to scrolling through lots of sprites looking for a specific one.

Yeah, but they're a wall of color-mash. Trying to look through that "list" quickly feels more like this to me.

 

And being alphabetical assumes I can even remember the precise name. How often do you think of as "Coastal Waverunner" rather than just "Waverunner", for example?

 

Displaying the name under the sprite once unlocked, rather than in a tooltip, would solve the issue quite easily. A separate text-only list would work as well, and possibly be even quicker to look through, but then there would be two lists to maintain, and I'm not sure how locked breeds would be displayed in a text list.

Yes, but that doesn't mean it's not still difficult to find what I'm looking for.

 

Images load, reload, and the scroll bar grows larger and larger as the images appear, causing my screen to jump back and forth.

 

....actually, I'd appreciate just locking the image size so that loading won't change the scroll bar position: i.e., <img src="location" width="" height=""> instead of just the src.

That would work as well--though I'd prefer just having the dragon breed name listed underneath its image--actually, I'd rather have both, but either one is a good solution.

 

That said, it's not a large problem or anything. But it is a minor inconvenience, and I do hate minor inconveniences.

I would enjoy this, especially since I regularly screw up dragon sorting- like am I really going to think "the order is Nebula, Neotropical, Nhiostrife" when searching? :U nope. Odds are I'd ctrl+f what I want to find instead of scrolling repeatedly.

 

I mean, at the very least this is saving people from scrolling repeatedly. Which is great.

 

Question though- sort holiday breeds by their name alone (Black Marrow Dragon) or also with their "holiday" name, too? (Black Marrow Dragon [Halloween 2009]) Pretty sure it would stretch the page if it were added under the sprite, so I'd vote a text-only page... But then if you don't know the name you might have problems anyway.
