  1. They are a repurposed Halloween, yep
  2. It's not even about hoarding 800+ unique mons for me, it's about not being able to bring over the impressive shiny and level 100 collections I've spent years accumulating. I've no doubt I can bring some of those collections over but...why when I can't bring them all? And on top of that I prefer mega evolution to giant pokemon (and to z-moves tbh). Dynamax just isn't an exciting concept for me. The draw just isn't there for me to drop $300 on a switch plus like $60 for a game that doesn't have what drew me to pokemon and kept me interested for more than a decade.

  7. if a family member of mine was in a car wreck and ended up in a persistent vegetative state, it depends on how long they are in it. after six months in it, chances become increasingly low that consciousness will be regained, and it's worth noting many who wake up from a pvs will have some degree of disability (pvs is a result of severe brain damage) and may not ever be able to take care of themselves independently again. after a year in a pvs it is time to let go. in true brain death, it is much simpler: it will be time to let go right away, however much it hurts. pvs info taken from wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persistent_vegetative_state#Signs_and_symptoms can you provide a news link or any link that is not from a sensationalist or religious site? i am not interested in having religion or the views associated with it foisted upon me. also i am entirely in favor of right to die legislation for competent adults facing terminal illness. people need the right to make medical decisions for themselves while they are competent to do so. my mom doesn't want a long, drawn out death when her time comes, either. i'm a realist. hope is great, but i can't ignore facts and reality.
  8. Sobble looks interesting, I hope it keeps the chameleon trend as it evolves Very wary of scorbunny...if it's not fire/fighting I'll probably go with scorbunny. I need to get me a switch :T let the saving begin
  9. Have you tried opaque contacts? If your eyes are dark the only way to get them to look a different color is with opaque, not translucent, colors. Just because you haven't had visible damage or problems with them doesn't mean you aren't, or that you won't in the future. And if you're going to try and get an eye doc to check them anyway, just get a contacts prescription while you're there instead. You should get a prescription for them even if you don't need them for vision correction. Contacts are a medical device regardless of vision correction needs. If you use them anyway just make sure that if you start getting a problem with your eyes that you see a doctor immediately. Same goes for prescription ones.

@Syiren it's cooler in person, it's hard to get a good sense of scale imo from videos and pics. also the wheels totally move. the whole thing is super cool if you plan on putting batteries in for the head/tail lights, be prepared for a) it's a goddamned nightmare to get the batteries in, or at least it was for me, b) you need a small, narrow screwdriver, and c) i had better luck with a flathead than a phillips.

  14. What The Health...be careful recommending that. https://www.vegan.com/posts/vegan-dietitian-review-what-the-health/ (review written by a vegan health professional) http://time.com/4897133/vegan-netflix-what-the-health/ (TIME fact check) The first link is, I feel, more important. But both of them illustrate that you have to take at least this particular documentary with a grain of salt and probably some solid research about vegan health and ideals under your belt before you go watching it. x:
  15. i don't drink a lot of anything other than water, but i did try almond milk once, and i was sorely disappointed in the sad watery texture and weird flavor. if i want almonds, i'll just stick to eating the almonds themselves. i don't think i'll ever go vegetarian or vegan, but i feel like as time has passed i've reduced my meat consumption, probably as a result of just preferring smaller portions of meat (especially of "heavy" meats like beef). i also tend to like meats like beef and pork better in stews with vegetables than on their own, and we don't make stews that often. it's startling how many meatless options i do like, especially as i make an effort to include more actual veg in my diet.
  16. Might take me a couple days to fibd the time ti get in there fir an extensive lookover but yes you can tag me
  17. here's a simplified version: part A is hospital insurance part B is medical insurance (not including vision and dental) part D is medications If your mom hasn't already, she needs to sign up for part D for drug coverage, part B for doctor visits and related, and part A for hospitals. Your mom needs to look into that additional help paying for her medications and take what help she can get from that, if she hasn't already. She also needs to look into contacting state welfare services immediately and looking into what they can do to help her pay for medicare costs. It definitely won't hurt to call and ask and get any relevant information and forms sent to you. If there is a social security office near you (you can google "social security office near [address]"), it might do you guys well to go there in person and have an actual person to speak to about it. Here's how to make an appointment: https://faq.ssa.gov/en-us/Topic/article/KA-02771 but I'm not sure you need one, because the one time I went with my mom we just took a number and waited. My mom went through the same thing when she got part B (she'd already had parts A and D), and she was able to get help paying for at least the premium through state welfare services.

  19. It's a bit confusing to me that you go out of your way to note that you are not religious, but then immediately use blatantly religious justification. Whether that's in the Bible or not, things have changed significantly since the times when it was written and compiled, and we have different laws now. The idea that this is animal rights garbage is somewhat distressing to me, as a person who supports animal welfare and humane and ethical treatment. So I'd like to note, very firmly, that while there are indeed extremists among the myriad animal rights/welfare groups, it is not garbage to feel concern or compassion for creatures other than humans, nor is it garbage to argue for humane and ethical treatment for creatures other than humans. Just because I eat chickens on the regular doesn't mean I'm a jerk who thinks cruelty to them is in any way appropriate. Factory farming is ugly no matter what it is that's being farmed, and if someone is in a position in life where they can afford meat that isn't factory farmed, I encourage them to do so. I think what gets me is that this ban takes effect in LA...LA is not exactly a cold clime, so unless you're interested in trophy collecting, what would you need fur for anyway? It's not like you're gonna get buried in six feet of snow in December, so obviously not for warmth. And as with many laws, it probably won't take effect immediately, so anyone seriously affected should have some time to move shop elsewhere. Just because we can wear animals, doesn't mean we should or that we need to.

Thanks for sharing your opinion, firstly. Remember for those "what if" or "it could have been" arguments, that they could just as easily have been the next Dahmer instead of a Pope. It's unrealistic to focus only on the positive potentials, which is why these kinds of arguments always concern me a bit. Also, being physically ready for a child is only one part of the process. There are plenty of risks just for being pregnant, like pre-/eclampsia, gestational diabetes, and not to mention that preexisting conditions can make it harder for someone to carry. And then you have to actually survive birth, which carries even more risks, including tearing, hemorrhage, and assortments of permanent damage. And here in the US, childbirth has actually been getting more dangerous than other wealthy countries, for reasons that include significant medical laziness/negligence. USA Today has been investigating this as part of their Deadly Deliveries series: https://www.usatoday.com/in-depth/news/investigations/deadly-deliveries/2018/07/26/maternal-mortality-rates-preeclampsia-postpartum-hemorrhage-safety/546889002/ and (more recent) https://www.usatoday.com/in-depth/news/investigations/deadly-deliveries/2018/09/19/maternal-death-rate-state-medical-deadly-deliveries/547050002/ Even in other countries, though, birthing is never 100% risk-free. I fully understand your sentiment there, but I disagree with it, because when you are saying that they should carry it to term, birth it, and then give it up, you are also telling them to accept a myriad of risks that could end in death for them.

Sex education that doesnt focus only on abstinence is likelier to reduce unwanted pregnancies, and even if it doesnt it will ensure that people arent ignorant of their own bodies which is a good thing anyway. Im not going to try and change antichoice minds right now. The only thing i am intetested in hearing from antichoicers is what they are doing to reduce unwanted pregnancies before they even happen, and what they plan on doing for them post-birth. And i mean realistic options - it iswell known that abstinence is a farce, and while it does work for some, it is not a reality for the majority. In my view, you cannot be pro-life if you are not willing to support them post-birth to ensure what you save gets to live a quality life.

Okay so you want to save them from abortion. Fine. I can understand that. But what then? (All 'you' instances are generic and not aimed at a particular person.) What are you doing to ensure the ones you save have a good life post-birth? Are you supportive of a robust welfare system? Medicaid? Food stamps? Energy assistance (help paying for heating/cooling)? Daycare assistance? Housing assistance? Support with transportation? Because the reality is that children are expensive and sometimes people can't afford them without help, especially single-parent working families. Do you support comprehensive sex education, with the focus on real education and not only on abstinence? Free or low cost contraceptives for those who cannot otherwise afford it? We can reduce the need for abortions before they ever need to happen by teaching sex ed that is not only abstinence-based and by realizing that people have sex, accepting it, and throwing birth control their way. Are you supportive of doing something to rework the adoption and foster system so children are not sent to abusive homes or homes that only want them for the money? More regulation, stronger oversight, something? Abuse in these situations happens disturbingly often; there was a case reported about that very thing in the paper here (abq, nm) just last week! Adoption/foster is not the bed of roses people seem to think it is. Are you supportive of all proposals that deny parental rights to rapists? Rapists get parental rights disturbingly often (even one instance is too many) and it needs to stop. Because i see a lot of talking by anti-choicers, a lot of religious sentiment, but not a lot of walking their talk. Not a lot of substance. No care for what happens to it after they save it. Which is also why i say anti-choice instead of "pro-life"- because until you care about the lives of the saved after they are born, anti-choice is all this really is (at best it's "pro-(forced)-birth").
  23. Something I've seen that really kinda bothers me is just "use the forum." That's all well and good until someone wants to contact someone making an offer to discuss an issue, only to discover they don't have a forum account - or maybe they do, but not under the same name, so you can't find them anyway. And it really doesn't matter what any given player's reason for not having a forum account is, the relevant bit is that they don't have one. Not everyone uses the forum, and no one should be forced to; even in integrated games like flight rising you don't have to participate in forum stuff. Now, I agree with guidelines posting onsite, and that the wants box should only contain wants and maybe a quick description of what you're trading, but I do disagree that the only solution to not being able to contact a person offering on your trade is "use the forum." I feel like a better solution is implementing an ability to accept/decline parts of an offer, where the trader has the option of removing things from an offer without having to decline or accept the whole thing entirely. Or even just creating a dropdown menu available to the trader for use on each offer with some basic preset messages, like "you are egg/scroll locked, please make space" or "i will accept this as soon as i have space" or somesuch like that. It's correct to say that communication is what the forum is for, but that really only works if everyone has a forum account to contact (AND it relies on them having the same name on the forum as the site!).
  24. The initial clearing saw no notifications go out. There were simply too many to do so. Going forward, removed threads will see a PM sent to the OP and artists unless the OP asked for it to be removed (we don't need to notify someone of a removal they asked for). If you need information recovered from a removed thread, you can contact any help mod. =D
  25. @Looti details on the DR updates, including the clearout, are located here: https://forums.dragcave.net/topic/183158-section-updates-july-11th-2018-must-read/ there are other important changes noted here as well, so before trying to resubmit make sure you read through those updates so you're all up to speed on what's going on now and going forward with DR. i've gone ahead and grabbed the details out of the thread for you and sent them in a message.
