Witold Pilecki was a Polish soldier who volunteered to let himself be captured and put into Auschwitz to get information out of the death camp. Broke out when the outside help he expected didn't arrive. Took part in the Warsaw Uprising only to be executed as a traitor by a kangaroo court under the Soviet regime in Poland.
