SPAM:A hypothetical experiment

I want to try to gather data on my eggs/hatchlings during their growth (via web scraping or API requests). After that, I'd like to create plots from that data and, maybe, make some assumptions on, say, an optimal rate of gathering views/unique views that doesn't cause softshell. Would that be considered reverse engineering and be frowned upon?
