Dead Eggs in The Way?

What happens to dead eggs? I've accidentally killed a couple trying to convert them into vampire dragons and they're kind of in the way. Will they eventually disappear or something? There's no actions I can do on 'em.

The sprite will eventually disappear, but after 24 hours the slot that the egg took up will be freed.

And 2 weeks after death they also disappear out of sight.
