Posted January 19, 2012 (edited) Well, i created this thread to post my artwork that needs help and crits on. Sooooo here they are, order by oldest to newest: http://i42.tinypic.com/28rkshh.jpg http://i44.tinypic.com/2dha0ww.jpg http://i44.tinypic.com/5vaq7o.jpg http://i43.tinypic.com/11185c5.jpg http://i44.tinypic.com/wahc9l.jpg Edited March 14, 2012 by Silverlight138 Share this post Link to post
Posted January 19, 2012 I think it looks really good so far . The only thing that looks a little odd is that the far wing is up a little to high as though it is attached to the neck instead of the shoulder. Share this post Link to post
Posted January 20, 2012 Hi there ^^ your dragon looks pretty good so far :3 and if your really having trouble with the limbs, you could try to practice drawing animals? as this helps with the way they pose, and how they look! You can also take out some drawing books or even comic books as references to drawing the limbs. ^ hope that helps OH! and the picture's probably so big because of the settings on the camera? or if you scanned it, you could always resize it with a few programs. Posted January 21, 2012 (edited) Looks good so far. If you have trouble with limbs etc...start with basic circles and lines where you think the limbs/Joints should be. If it doesn't look right erase and do it again. Heres kinda what I mean. (Hehe its very rough I'm using my laptop and the mouse pad doesn't agree with me ) Edited January 21, 2012 by Kursedfire Share this post Link to post
Posted January 21, 2012 (edited) haha thanks you all ! XOXOXO hmm i think i will leave the wings first, im too lazy to change that LOL. im going to work on the limbs first Edited January 21, 2012 by Silverlight138 Share this post Link to post
Posted January 21, 2012 YAY im finally done ^__^ though im not really satisfied with its head... Share this post Link to post
Posted January 21, 2012 Very nice May I suggest sharpening the tail a little, and the head seems sharp coming up to the nose on the top. Share this post Link to post
Posted January 21, 2012 ahhh okayy good point, i didnt notice the tail and how did i not get bugged by the nose ! >< Share this post Link to post
Posted February 2, 2012 (edited) Heres a bunch of dragons i sketched for various dragon request threads, just wanted to post them here to "store" them. Of course, crits are welcomed. http://i43.tinypic.com/11185c5.jpg My favourite the best ive ever drawn. http://i44.tinypic.com/5vaq7o.jpg Totally not satisfied with this at all Butt's too big, has wing anatomy issues, and missing a wing and 2 limbs LOL. yes, i was lazy, but i cant have an opportunity to edit it anymore, since i threw the artwork away in my fustration http://i44.tinypic.com/2dha0ww.jpg Shall not disclose why this dragon was drawn Edited March 14, 2012 by Silverlight138 Share this post Link to post
Posted February 2, 2012 -Claps excitedly- Bravo Bravo! I think the egyption one needs its limbs worked on and I really really love its necklace <3 I cannot decide which one is my favourite D: OHhhh, I think I love the Sabertooth draggie the most. I like the shading on it. Share this post Link to post
Posted February 2, 2012 Oh, do you know how to make the pictures smaller? The size is kind of bugging me Share this post Link to post
Posted February 2, 2012 YEA ZOMG, ME TOO!!!! nope, i dont the big size shows all my retarded fail details Share this post Link to post
Posted February 2, 2012 The first thing I saw is all of your dragons are very fat The first one has pretty face, neck and wings. I like it most. But the body and legs's size aren't fit with the neck's. The second one.... well look like you said almost all. There's also the front leg. If I take the head and neck as a standard size, which is the best part of the dragon, then the top is too big while the bottom is too small. The last one has problem with the back legs. They are too big and the place where legs and body join should be higher. I can find that your dragon has legs grow from the tail, not the body Share this post Link to post
Posted March 14, 2012 (edited) Thanks for all the crits! Heres another draggie i drew, and i think ive improved a bit on drawing dragon legs http://i40.tinypic.com/30bkca0.jpg Edited March 14, 2012 by Silverlight138 Share this post Link to post
Posted March 14, 2012 My main pointer to you is to work on your wings. Here is a great reference for multiple dragony things: http://dragoness77.deviantart.com/art/5-Co...takes-187989082 And I find this reference as a good thing to look at to help you understand how a wing should look at different angles: http://nakase.deviantart.com/art/Dragon-Wi...orial-160839444 I hope these help! And if you would ever like me to redline something for you, PM me. I've done a lot of redlines, which can be seen here: http://cudo215.deviantart.com/gallery/?catpath=scraps I love doing them. Posted March 14, 2012 Actually, sure, why not! i would love it if you could redline my most recent sketch. Please? With a cherry on top? X3 Share this post Link to post
Posted March 16, 2012 Sorry it took my almost 2 days to get this to you but I have it! I would post it directly here as a thread image but the file is too huge. http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt227/c...ht138_on_DC.png The main anatomy problem here is the wings, but it is very difficult to learn a believable wing shape, so you have to expect to practice on them more. Hopefully my redline will help you to understand a bit. It may also help to study bat wings to get a feel for real-life use. On top of the first redline, I put in some blue lines which are meant to show the general shape of the body, head and wings. I also added in shadows to the bottom redline to showcase the shapes of muscles and other things. So hopefully this helps you and if you have any questions, feel free to PM me!
