  1. Just last as long as you can. The zombie difficulty increases periodically too. Round 199 is my new record! I had two bolt dragons right at my tower, two soulpeace one to each side. Then whites wrapped around that and green earth dragons all around them. My whole left side is still intact but only the soulpeace remains on the right.
  2. "The power of your Ice, Magma, and Thunder dragons summons a Guardian of Nature." I did not know this was possible?
  3. After you click survive you wait. Every five minutes the site calculates what happens and you advance a round. From your description... After you select Survive are you hitting Start Over? You just need to let it sit five minutes.
  4. You can't win, the zombies will keep coming indefinitely. The point is to last as long as you can, get the xp for that run, and then try to last even longer with your new dragons and quantity limits.
  5. I dreamed last night that I had to cook 100 different potatoes, two different ways. I kept making mistakes, so I kept needing to grow new potatoes. I woke up sometime during this, and when I fell back asleep again, it was the same dream, but also with sweet potatoes in the mix. ...I have no idea what my brain was metaphorically trying to tell me.

  7. So... I am finally seriously starting on figuring out a mate for this little lady. I already have the 2nd gen male bred, just trying to decide what to do with the female. While I could just do a nhiostryfe x swallowtail checker, I feel I'd much rather have a breed that will appear in the blue family in the 1st gen and the red family in all subsequent generations - all as a female of course - and get a bit of a checker going with that. I haven't officially picked the breed, and was wondering about suggestions? While I know other spriter's alts are a possibility, I'd prefer not to go that route, as I'd like to be able to breed this past the 4th generation. My current thought is male nhio x female gon = female avatar of change, which would at least be in somewhat of the correct color family. Thoughts? (I did breed both of my female GONs today, but only Nhiostryfes, so I am fearful that this will also be frustrating). Of the other color-changing dragons... Anagallis - If I wanted to do a mirror this is a distict possibility, just switch the angallis to male for 2nd gen and up, but I'd rather do a checker. Copper - Not possible. Female decides coloring so color wouldn't change. Dorsals - I don't think they fit the feel of the rest of the lineage Nebulas - While a distinct possibility, and probably pretty, I'm not a masochist, and so this isn't really something I'd want to commit to actually breeding. (Which nebula coloring is more common right now?) Day/Night Glory - Can't breed with regular dragons, and not the right colors anyway. Ridgewings - Not the right colors for what I'm hoping to do. Seasonals - I could do Winter to Spring maybe? But it's not really the feel I am hoping for... Plus I would have to wait until next year to do it. Sunrise/sunset - Not the right colors for what I'm hoping to do. Closer than the ridgewings, though. I thought about hybrids, too, but they are not in the color scheme I am hoping for.
  8. I love the idea of adding tags. This way I could mark down the generations of my dragons, which breeding projects I've used them in, the type of their lineage, etc, etc. I really really love tags. If tabs were also implemented, I would use them to organize and sort my dragons by breed type (regular, two-headed, etc) and whether or not I had met my scroll goals for them - and then I could use one of the standard sorting options instead of Legacy Custom Sort. I love the idea of both. If I could only pick one I would pick the TAGS mentioned in this suggestion thread. (But I am really hoping that both are implemented someday).

  10. My sister used to work as a nurse for a specialized mental health facility for troubled children with a very specific mental/emotional disorder. (Details, in case you're curious... She used to call her clientele "kids adopted as babies by rich families" because that is who went there, but it's a disorder caused when the birth mother didn't want to have the child and somehow the unborn child picks up this "I'm not wanted" feeling and has difficulty forging emotional bonds with anyone for the rest of their life unless they get help. Some are very violent, even. My sister was brought on as a night shift nurse after one patient tried to murder some of the staff in their sleep; her bedroom was shared with a different patient who was on suicide watch). My sister graduated from nursing from a college with a religious culture, and this outfit recruited heavily there, even though the facility was several states away. They stressed the spiritual side of what they were doing at the facility as a recruitment tool, and my sister accepted a position with a strong feeling that this was exactly why she got a nursing degree. After a couple months, she started noticing that she did not feel ethically moral performing some of the tasks she was assigned. She was asked to sign off on "other people's work" on medical forms - things that she didn't even witness, so she had no way to verify they even occurred, much less properly - among other tasks. She brought it up to her supervisor, who berated her for not being a "team player," but my sister still refused to perform these tasks as she felt they were morally wrong. My sister stood her ground for months, continued to refuse to participate in the practices she felt were unethical, and was eventually told by her supervisor that she was a "depressing influence on morale" and that she should either participate in the group's full workload or else find a different job. She took the latter option. Two years later her supervisor contacted her to apologize, saying that my sister had been the only ethical person working there, and that if they had listened to her they'd still be employed right now, rather than going through a major lawsuit and criminal investigation for health insurance fraud with a major black mark on their records. Never be afraid to stand up for yourself, even if others don't back you up. Sometimes others don't catch on until it's too late. Sometimes you never get the closure you were hoping for. But you always have the option to keep your morals intact. Maybe someday they're realize what a negative influence this person is on their workforce. Maybe it will require losing most of their good people before it happens. Maybe they will never figure it out - some people are very good at manipulation. You have no control over that. But you can control what you do about it. And in my opinion? You stood up for yourself, the employees who do good work, and the productivity of the store. There's a difference between being vindictive and proactive. If you were just another employee, sure, asking not to be scheduled at the same time as someone else is about the most you can do. But once you are in any management position, your responsibility also extends to those working under you as well, and you stood up for the good ones. No one likes being the "bad guy" - but let me tell you, always passing the buck is the wrong way to handle it. My immediate lead will not share any but the most menial tasks with the rest of the group, so we're not learning anything new like he's supposed to teach us, and then he berates us for not knowing basic things that we've never been afforded the opportunity to learn. My manager is aware of the situation, but ignores it or blames us for it. The end result is that everyone who works under that lead including myself is mapping their way into a different career. THAT is what happens when issues aren't addressed. Don't be upset with yourself for doing a supervisor's job - that's what you are.
  11. Today it's really nice out, sunny, cheerful... ...and then you are reminded of the results of last night's rainstorm. But they're working on it. Most of the trees were still on the road when I went to work this morning, and the traffic was painful but a couple lights had policemen directing traffic. I will probably have to buy a dress to wear to my brother's wedding Saturday, because there's no way the laundry will be done since power is out until the weekend. But the tree and telephone pole that came down behind my house just missed the house, so all in all, it could have been much worse, and I am very blessed that the only loss I've suffered is the contents of my fridge.
  12. For me, it really depends. In most of my breeding projects, I will not inbreed. I like the challenge of it, and I like the trading value afterwards. But sometimes I just have to inbreed, because it's beautious. If I'm looking for a frozen hatchling to finish off my collection of a breed, inbreds from the AP are the second-most likely lineage to be frozen to fulfill that requirement (with messy-lineages as my top pick), but that doesn't mean all inbreds are frozen - many reach adulthood, as well. (And many CBs are frozen for my hatchling requirements, too). If it's a pretty and organized inbred lineage, I don't care it's inbred, I'm keeping it. That said, most of my inbreds have "IB" somewhere in the name (as a prefix, suffix, or beginning of their name). This is so I don't breed an inbred dragon for someone wanting a non-inbred one... The ones that don't have the "IB" are typically for a breeding project with a naming convention requirement, like my Targaryens. So, in short... I am more interested in pretty lineages and CBs to build pretty lineages from than I am in whether or not a dragon is inbred. Most of my breeding projects are not inbred, because of the challenge, but I have some inbred ones because I wanted them. I think of inbreds as I think of deadlines. If the lineage is attractive enough to look at, and the inbred or deadline fits with the theme, then it's all the prettier for it. The only time when they're a factor in my valuing are when I'm thinking of trading value of the dragon's offspring (and I don't trade much anymore, so that happens rarely).
  13. I am still very much in favor of this addition. I used to write descriptions for all my dragons, separately on my personal computer, before descriptions were added to the site. I went on a description rampage when it became an official part of DC, adding in all the ones I had written (abridged, since our character limits were much smaller initially), but have since stopped writing them entirely because it's become too difficult to keep track of who I wrote for and who is waiting for approval and all. I'd start back up again if it was easier to track things!
  14. Just checking in. Things have been hectic, so I'm not on much, but I'm still around, and will periodically check for PMs. I did successfully breed two Targaryens today and have put them in one-way teleports for those waiting on me. Apologies for the week off!
  15. I didn't notice the new forms. Updated, thanks! Also, I sent the link to Cindy-LouWhoWho as well for the 5th gen. So we'll see who picks it up first? Or if anyone does.
  16. "The dragons don't really show much interest in each other." - Sorry, arya10, I will try again next week. I wish to announce a new Targaryen! Generation: 5 Parents: Daemarr Targaryen & Manaenyra Targaryen Link: Lineage Link I sent a one-way teleport to HiyaName in the off-chance she's still here. She hasn't answered my PMs from last week, though... I don't think she's active. Still, I'll hold the egg for 48 hours, same as I did last week, and if no answer then I'll keep it? My 5th gens refused each other, so I'm short one anyway. EDIT: Unless Cindy-LouWhoWho is still active and in need of a 5th gen (and it doesn't matter if it's not a sibling)? Could we please add activity requirements to the first page?
  17. HiyaName hasn't picked up the egg, and it's incuhatchable now, so I cancelled the trade link, influenced her female, and am hatching her to finish up my own 5th gen pairing. HiyaName joined the forum on the 3rd and hasn't posted since the 6th, so I sent a PM asking for notification of when I should breed the egg, and I'll just breed it then. Do we have an activity requirement/policy for the waiting lists? We probably should.

  19. The giant "!" is a bit out of place for many of the less-urgent actions, though... If we must keep the warning non-optional, I'd like to see some of the password confirmation actions change to "?" instead of "!" - and in a different color. This would also help with the "tuning it out" tendency of most of us... If there's variety in the symbol and the color, we'd be more likely to notice - "hey, it's the blue one," or "hey, it's the yellow one" - rather than washing out awareness with all the notices being exactly the same. For example, "Kill" could stay the "!" but turn red. The "Next Unlock" is not urgent, so could be changed to yellow. The "Abandon" one is a confirmation, so could stay blue but turn into a "?" to signify "did you mean to do this?" Or something. A bit of variety with the colors would go a long way, in my opinion, towards helping those who want the help and not flooding the site with the blue "!" to the point people tune it out when they need it. (I do still wish these password/action confirmations were optional, though...)

  23. I want tags and tabs. We don't have either, so as a result, this is my "real scroll" and the one on DragCave is mainly sorted to denote which dragons I haven't organized yet. Having it on DragCave itself would be SO MUCH EASIER. As it is, I'm about 3k+ dragon pages behind in my wiki I set up... But it's the only way I can track my dragons properly.
