Paladins is the best game ever.

I have played it for a bit, it's great, colorful and with multiple unique characters to play. Love the strong fantasy vibe.

However my critique is that:

- too flashy sometimes, I tend to get confused about what's happening because of so many fantasy effects on the screen,

- so many characters kind of forces the player to learn their strengths, weaknesses and counter-classes. How many are there now, around 30?

- character customization is severely limited to spending in-game or real currency, and limited to recolor and a couple of reskins here and there; so far I've only spent it once on a red Furia skin and that is it, and it's... not as "wow" as I'd like it to be - and my bf bought me the complete champions pack for an easier start, and hell that dlc is not cheap, could have bought a whole different game for that :V

- you are kind of forced to pick a class to keep the team balanced, so if you don't have a healer and you main a tank AND are awful at healing... Well expect a harder time for yourself and the team; this may or may not be a problem and may perhaps teach you different ways,

- Salty individuals may discourage from playing, however as it's a thing in every big pvp, you may choose to ignore the troll-baiting and carry on.

I mean, in short, if you want a game with a challenge, go for Paladins. But if you want a happy atmosphere, GGs flowing in the chat, it is hard to achieve with a bunch of random people. Not sure if there even are community servers you can chill out in? I know you can join an empty map with friends and chill out there, but it is not quite what I'm going for here.

Blah, I'm rambling in the morning! But yeah my first impression of Paladins was good nonetheless as well, I may get back to playing it when I get bored of anything else x'D Personally I prefer TF2 for the reasons above, much more flexible, easier for the eyes and easier to memorize the mechanics, but that is me.

40 now, I think, but isn't that most games like this?

I agree, the customization sucks. And I hate the way the do events, where you HAVE to buy one or more of their skin packs to get certain skins/emotes/whatever. Personally, I think the champion pack is a waste of money since it is so easy to earn enough gold to buy the champions individually.

This is a big issue because most people don't care about keeping a balanced team and just play their main. It is a bit frustrating for people like me and my bf who tend to fill whatever role is needed, even if it's not a class/champion we like to play. Though, by now, I'm at the point where I'm like that. If they don't care, why should I? So I just pick a champion I'm good at so I'll, hopefully, enjoy the game more.

One thing that I really like about Paladins is that you can't change characters mid-game.

Not sure but, that's been discouraging me on the long run from playing similar things like Overwatch or I dunno, something else of similar genre and complexity x'D TECHNICALLY there are only 4 main classes (offense, tank, flanker, healer), but... I don't know, the way it's broken up into separate characters and their talents and weapons and loadout possibilities and *the order you should use the abilities in because of their cooldowns* makes it feel so complicated, I would need months to learn all of that and become a decent player x'D I've been dying so much even with a decent loadout borrowed from more experienced players, right after riding out of the spawn and that was frustrating 😧 And that was pure pvp, not the one filled partially by not-so-realistic bots. Maybe I just had a bad luck and kept being thrown into groups full of tryhards who have already seen everything, who knows. Matchmaking systems seem to suck everywhere, the strict number of players is not enough to make the match balanced 😧

Perhaps, assuming you're willing to invest enough time for it; on one hand, there's a great feeling of accomplishment, but on the other hand... I don't like spending who knows how long on grinding for all of this, and remembering about doing all this "daily perk" chore ^^" Buy this, buy that... Blah!

When you're new to the game(and any game, really) you kinda just have to ignore other people until you get the hang of the game. People are jerks and they tend to forget they were also new once. I get it, though, it is a lot to memorize. I just focus on one champion at a time.

Have you been spending your points during the matches? People really get pissed when you don't, even though you don't always need to depending on how good you are with your champion, but they can help sometimes.

Also, what mode do you play? I really like the Team Deathmatch and Onslaught modes and I avoid Siege like the plague. I even reroll any daily quests that want me to play Siege. xD

The best advice I can give is don't worry about winning or anything. Just try out the different characters until you find one you really like then play that character til you get better and then start trying out others. That way you have a champion you're good with to fall back on if games aren't going well.

For me it's not really about feeling accomplished, it's just that there are some champions I can't stand(Terminus and Drogoz,, mostly) and I refuse to pay money for them, even if it gets me the rest. I've been trying to expand and get better with more characters.

What daily perk?

One thing that really sucks is that there's a 10-15k daily limit on earning gold. If you play enough each day to hit the limit then it'll only take 3-6 days to earn each new champion, but still, I hate being limited like that. Plus there are other things to buy with gold like skins.

I'm not that worried about the salt in the chat. I see that in TF2 A LOT, I've been even accused of cheating because I was better than someone. :'D I don't respond to that behavior. I don't even have time to look at the chat which... is mostly filled with system messages like call for help and such, so stuff that's actually typed falls way back x'D I've just mentioned the salt in case someone's mind is weaker when dealing with problematic individuals online.

For sure I have been doing that, and certainly not on the auto-spend option, no idea why did they made it a default option at all. It confused me at first -why can't I buy the upgrades- x.x

Onslaught? Maybe? I haven't checked the game in a bit, I just use the terms "points" and "payload" because that's easier for me to describe that. xD

...I've last played that game in October. Jeez I've already forgot the basic terms, what!

That's what I do, I have a few that I sorta kinda like; I still won't learn anything when I get nearly instantly killed in like, seconds. Maybe I need to practice more, or go back to bot matches dunno at this point. 😧

I like to try everything xD I've tried Drogoz once "because dragons" and uh... let's say it didn't go well even with bots. But I regret nothing, I know what I'm dealing with at least .u. (bf doesn't regret anything either! xD)

What daily perk?

You know, "pick a bit of free cash everyday" option? The one where you get a bit of gold increasing daily, and then you get to pick the crystals/gems/that-premium-currency once a week? Is it still a thing...?

T-there is a limit?! Welp... I like that it prevents grinding like it's on DC now xD But eh, still takes hella long to get there for me. xD

Responses in bold because I'm too lazy to copy the quote oops. I should be asleep so sorry if nothing I'm saying makes sense anymore! xD

I used the auto-buy at the beginning because I had no idea what the points were for or anything, lol. Now that I know I keep it turned off and spend points on what I want if I remember to do it.

Payload is a Siege term. I hate that mode with a passion. If that's all you're playing, then no wonder you're having problems. xD There's an option now to choose what modes you want to play, which is awesome, so I always leave Siege unchecked. TDM is first team to 40 kills wins and with Onslaught you have to hold the middle of the map and the first team to earn, like, 400 points wins. Onslaught, I think, is the best place to learn since most people focus on the middle and you can hang around the edges of the map and be mostly out of the way. Plus, if you head back to the starting point, it's shielded so you can retreat there to gain health or whatever.

That's why Drogoz was one of the first ones I tried, too. xD I can probably get better if I play him more, I just don't like his play style. Moji is my favorite by far. Generally my Front Line(tank) champions are Ruckus and Torvald, Damage are Viktor, Dredge, Strix and Tyra. Support are Furia, Seris and Pip. Flank is Moji, mostly, and Koga but I can play Skye, Maeve and Zhin pretty well. There's a new champion coming out soon, Imani, that I'd love to try(moar dragons!).

Oh, yeah, that. For whatever reason they moved it to the Store page and I don't really like it there. xD

Yeah. It's 10k normally or 15k with the account booster, I think. I don't think gold you get from the daily reward or chests count toward the limit, just what you earn by playing matches.
