http://forums.dragcave.net/index.php?showtopic=103438 This 24-hour Read-a-thon.

And, to keep on topic,

Book Number: 180

Number Of Pages: Over 40,000 words. Kindle book.

Book Title: Lethal Obsession: Caged

Author: Michele L. Montgomery

Review: So not worth the $6.99 I paid for it. It wasn't bad but parts just irked me. For example. Person A never told Person B who he had called to help him find the kidnapped one but Person B still said "And you think this Carl person can help?" Person A never said Carl. And, much later, Person A said "I'm gunna take the blindfold off in a bit if you are quiet" and then "he looked into those green eyes" except, according to the book, the blindfold was still on. *sigh*

Is anyone doing the 24-hour Read-a-thon in here, other than me? It's tomorrow.

Nope. I've got an exam to study for. >__< And I've been intending to participate since last year.

@Kanaye: Is Lethal Obsession Kindle-lendable? If it is and there isn't someone else you plan on lending it to, may I borrow it?

@Shalarean: I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed The Sweetest Thing by Jill Shalvis. She's a new-to-me author that I recently purchased because I really liked the cover. lol. I haven't read it yet and am glad that I won't end up hating the book!

Review: Not the usual type of book I read, but I joined a book club on another forum and that was the book for this month. It was... fantastic. I am a bit sad that you never find out the mother's name, or Old Nick's name, for that matter, but it's from the point-of-view of a five-year old, so things like that aren't as important.

Man... this book... Wow.

@Kanaye: Is Lethal Obsession Kindle-lendable? If it is and there isn't someone else you plan on lending it to, may I borrow it?

I don't know. I have Kindle for PC, not an actual Kindle. How do I know if it is lendable? And the next 24 Hour Read-a-thon is October 8th, I believe. Hopefully you can make it then and we can both cheer each other on.

I did the 24-Hour-Read-a-thon, read 5 books. And then I read 2 more books after it was done.

Book Number: 181

Number Of Pages: 409

Book Title: Poison Study ~R~

Author: Maria V. Snyder

Review: I love this series. I only read the first one for the read-a-thon since I've already read it about 6 times and wanted something new.

Book Number: 182

Number Of Pages: 201

Book Title: The World Above

Author: Cameron Dokey

Review: I kind of liked this. A retelling of Jack and the Beanstalk with a little Robin Hood mixed in. I didn't like how it wrapped up so easily though.

Book Number: 183

Number Of Pages: 178

Book Title: Winter's Child

Author: Cameron Dokey

Review: Now this I quite enjoyed. Very different telling of "The Snow Queen". I was a little unsure about the whole Falcon thing and then I decided I liked that too.

Book Number: 184

Number Of Pages: 384

Book Title: Liar

Author: Justine Larbalestier

Review: Ok, to be completely honest. I did not like this. She's an ordinary character and then, a third of the way through the book, suddenly she's a werewolf and two people are kissing her. *blinks* Uh, ok. And her brother is real, then no, he is a character she made up cause she wanted to see if she could invent a believable person, then no, she didn't make him up but killed him when he was 10 while she was a werewolf. *throws up hands* I did manage to finish it none-the-less.

Book Number: 185

Number Of Pages: 400

Book Title: One Good Knight ~R~

Author: Mercedes Lackey

Review: I love this book. Book loving dragons called BookWyrms. Who couldn't love it?

Book Number: 186

Number Of Pages: 619

Book Title: The Host ~R~

Author: Stephanie Meyer

Review: This was mostly book on cd but about a 4th reading the actual book. I love this book. I listened to a lot of it through out the read-a-thon but didn't actually finish it till it was over.

Book Number: 187

Number Of Pages: 294

Book Title: Jacobs' Ladder ~R~

Author: Z. A. Maxfield

Review: I still wish they would have told us who beat Jordan over the head in book 2. Other than that, I still like it.

Book Title: One Good Knight ~R~

Author: Mercedes Lackey

Review: I love this book. Book loving dragons called BookWyrms. Who couldn't love it?

lol. err, I wouldn't. It took me many tries over the course of several years to finally complete One Good Knight. I swapped it through Paperbackswap.com once I was done. I liked the book after One Good Knight, and have been waiting for Sleeping Beauty to be available on PBS, but may just borrow it from the library next month.

Regarding Lethal Obsession, I checked the Amazon.com page. Under Product Details, it says: Lending: Enabled. I have Kindle for PC as well.

1. To lend, you go to your Kindle Library. I do that by going to My Account and then "View Your Kindle Orders".

2. Find the book, click the "+" to open up the product details.

3. Click the Loan this book" button.

4. You will need the Amazon.com email address of the person who you are lending the book to. Please note, the Kindle email address will not work.

Once this is done, the person has 7 days to accept the loan, and then 14 days to read it. During that time, you won't have access to the book yourself. After the 21 days are up (assuming that the book has been accepted), the book returns to you. Lending is strictly a one-time deal. Once it has been loaned to someone, you can no longer lend it out to anyone.

And yes, I can be on topic. smile.gif

Yeah, that book was a bit confusing. I didn't really like it all that much, either. I did like another book by that author, How to Ditch your Fairy. It's completely different, though. Reading the two books separately, I wouldn't have been able to tell they were written by the same woman.

I'd join but unfortunately I read about 50 books a month during the school year and during the summer I sometimes read that many in a week. laugh.gif

Review: Man has some good stuff to say. His life has been craptastic, but he's not particularly bitter (or rather he is, because he is human, but he doesn't dwell on it) and he's done some really amazing things even though he's still behind bars. I would like to meet him someday. Innocent people shouldn't be in jail.

Book Title: Fire Bringer

Author: David Clement-Davies

Rating: 5/5

Fantastic animal fantasy. I never thought I could be emotionally attached to a deer. Makes the animals seem human, but not in the way I always thought was unappealing. Like Redwall, if they are to be humanlike, I didn't want them wearing clothes, waving around swords and the like, this is a great balance. They are human like in they way they talk and act with their families, but they are completely and totally wild animal.

R/R: Grabbed this from the library on a whim. It wasn't terrible, but I wouldn't really recommend it to friends. Also, there were a ton of different mistakes right when it switched stories, like putting 1 instead of I. I don't know how that could have happened, but there were at least over five different instances.
