Posted February 6, 2011 Book Number: 1 Title: Glimpse Author: Carol Lynch Williams # of pages: 484 Rating: 5/5 Review: This book is written in verse quite similar to those of Ellen Hopkins. It's about two sisters living in Southern Florida dealing with a dad who died and a mom who couldn't handle that. It's amazing and it'll definitely tug on your heart strings. If I hadn't been so bored in the first place, I never would have tolerated such a boring book in the first place. Its all about a woman trying to find out why a plane killed 3 people and so a deal can go through and they can build more planes. I did manage to finish it though. Book Number: 141 Number Of Pages: 416 Book Title: Scumble Author: Ingrid Law Review: YAY! Second book after Savvy. I think I actually like this one a tad bit better. Everyone in Savvy was extremely nice and I don't think people are really that nice. In Scumble, there was a rich bad guy who kept foreclosing business in the town. Book Number: 142 Number Of Pages: 256 Book Title: Lady Knight Author: L. J. Baker Review: I had been avoiding buying this for some time. I was in Borders the other day and I wanted a thick book and all the other ones were book 2's or book 3's. I finally gave in and grabbed this and I kinda wish I hadn't waited so long. Very good story. Share this post Link to post

Posted February 8, 2011 Book Number: 143 Number Of Pages: 421 Book Title: Melusine Author: Sarah Monette Review: Very interesting concept. I do like how she explains him going mad. People's heads turn into animal ones, like birds and bears and such. I did not, however, like the fact that she kept saying like "septad" and "dectad" without telling us what the heck those things were. She used it as both time, minutes and years, as well as how many of something there were "Like a septad of horses". Except for that confusing bit, I enjoyed this. Share this post Link to post

It is written in 2nd person, which is something I couldn't get past, plus it didn't make sense either. Book Number: 62 Number Of Pages: 352 Book Title: My Soul to Steal Author: Rachael Vincent Rating: For books about obnoxious whinny teens fighting over boys, I still love this series. Which is a surprise considering I hated high school kids when I was in high school. Nothing mean intended y'all, I'm an old woman The writer is really creative. A series about a male and female pair of banshees, she introduces, a Mara, or a living, breathing, nightmare. Very creepy, a very fun, easy read. 5/5 stars Book Number: 63 Number Of Pages: 288 Book Title: Mind-Altering Murder Author: William Rabkin Rating: 4.5/5 Another book about one of my favorite TV shows. Quite good, but it is not often I'm left thinking WTH after finishing a book. Edited February 11, 2011 by Sister of the Dragon Share this post Link to post
Posted February 12, 2011 Book Number: 10 Number Of Pages: 267 Book Title: Habibi Author: Naomi Shihab Nye Rating: 0/5 Review: In Habibi a girl (Liyana) from St. Louis who moves the Jerusalem. She ends up dating a Jewish boy (Omer) ignoring the fact she isn't allowed to date, and Omer being Jewish doesn't help. The entire book has an Anti-Israeli Anti-Semetic bias. Please, don't treat this book as a perfect portrayal of the conflict. Even if you keep the bias in mind, I still wouldn't recommend this. The majority of the characters are two dimensional, and basically all are static. Share this post Link to post

Goodreads review Book Number: 86 Number Of Pages: 553 pgs Book Title: The Lost Hero Author: Rick Riordan Rating: 3/5 Book Number: 87 Number Of Pages: 316 pgs Book Title: Lady Isabella's Scandalous Marriage Author: Jennifer Ashley Rating: 4/5 Review: I didn't think that the author would be able to get me to like the second book more than I had liked the first, but I did. In The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie, I loved reading about how Ian viewed the world and how it affected his romance. With this book, it was the romance. I loved reading about how Mac desperately wishes to make amends to Isabella for having hurt her early on in their marriage. I loved reading about how he expresses his barely restrained longing and love for Isabella through his painting. This is a man who overcame his addiction to alcohol to become a man who deserved her. It was beautiful. The passion exhibited by Lord Mac Mackenzie as he painted his Love brought to mind the passionate longing exhibited by Sir Percy Blakeney in The Scarlet Pimpernel as he kissed the footprints of his departing Lady. Reading scenes of barely restrained passion makes me sigh at how romantic it is. And that is what made this book a very good read for me.
