Posted December 1, 2014 i own the parents and some of THEIR offspring kept the plague theme going, too! Share this post Link to post
Posted December 2, 2014 I went away for a couple of years, and of course all of my dragons lost their names in that time. I'm going through the process of renaming them all (and adding some code for me to make it easier for my own breeding projects) and I am very thankful when either parents or offspring have been named! I'm trying to incorporate parent names as much as I can, it makes thinking of names very easy and quick. Has TJ implemented a method to toss a small amount of money at him and prevent dragon names from being wiped? With my naming scheme I don't have anything rare or valuable, but I wouldn't mind saving hours of work if I wander off again. Share this post Link to post

Posted December 2, 2014 (edited) I have a naming system set up that let's me know what I'm looking at by a glance, but it's so convoluted that I'm not surprised to see so few people naming offspring after my pairings. Though, whoever named my Tidal's offspring "Lengweir" gets my love forever for the most creative combining of my dragons' names yet. Personally, I try to name mine after their parents while sticking to my system. There are occassional exceptions, though. Electroneutrality will always be one of my favorite babies. I'll set a mate up for her someday, somehow. And Forever Friendzoned, something I can probably never breed in good conscience but love nonetheless. The name feels appropriate for that reason, as well as all the Valentines in there. I also have these two http://dragcave.net/lineage/B5p8b http://dragcave.net/lineage/zz97g I especially love lineages that read like that Tsunami's Edited December 2, 2014 by Chuint Share this post Link to post
Posted December 9, 2014 I do this with AP dragons. Of course, sometimes the parents don't have names, so if the grandparents are named, I'll make up names for the parents in order to make names for my dragons. For example, Pink Boring Name actually goes back to its great-grandparents in this manner. And yes, I'm also thrilled when people name the offspring of my dragons after their parents, especially if it's in my personal lineage. Share this post Link to post
Posted December 11, 2014 I don't do it all the time, but I have a Nebula/Royal Blue pair that their children have names based on theirs. the Nebula, Kuroi Stars, and the Royal Blue, Kotei Crown, have a Nebula son , Kuroi Crown, and a Royal Blue daughter, though I changed her name since I felt that Kotei Stars didn't really fit her. Posted December 23, 2014 i love it when people do that. makes me feel like the hours i spent making a name for each dragon in a pair was worth it. of course, its also fun to do it your self, like this guy i was fortunate enough to trade for https://dragcave.net/lineage/IQQae Share this post Link to post
Posted December 23, 2014 I have no naming system whatsoever, so I name my dragons based on (in order of priority) their parents' names, their code, or whatever comes to mind. C: If I may show off a bit, Angel of Judgment is the best one to come from this as of late, although I've also got a Shyamal(an) and a vagrant varg~ Haven't gotten around to breeding anything myself, but if I do, I'd love to see people doing this with the eggs they pick up! Posted December 23, 2014 Every now and then I'll name a hatchling after its parents. My favorite result is this confused little guy. Share this post Link to post
Posted December 25, 2014 I loved that I can tell the appreciation of one of my Christmas babies that were bred by the name. http://dragcave.net/progeny/f01lk "Gladly Received Present" Brought a smile to my face! Share this post Link to post
Posted December 26, 2014 I try to do that as often as possible when I catch someone's offspring from named parents - if not, sometimes I go a little further back in the line. It makes it fun to carry on some things from the past, and helps me figure out names for all my little dragons. Yeah. I like having them all named. It's a thing with me. Share this post Link to post

Posted December 27, 2014 I always try to give my dragons a last name of the sort of last name their father had. I also try to follow the naming pattern in the lineage someone has, like that weird sentence lineage. Share this post Link to post

Posted December 27, 2014 Could anyone give me some ideas about how to name this dragon (and the copper mate) in order to be consistent with the lineage? Share this post Link to post
Posted December 27, 2014 I try to name hatchlings after their parents as much as possible. Might change language on words, though. Every adult of the diffirent dragonraces has their own familyname (my earthdragons are all named Midgard-son/dottir, for example). Share this post Link to post
Posted December 31, 2014 (edited) This marks the first time ever I've had someone name a parent after my offspring. http://dragcave.net/lineage/arBj9 I got a nice little Solstice off the AP with a Spitfire father. I usually name Holiday dragons after their progenitors, but the mother's name is Z'ebii and the father didn't have a name. I named my CB Solstices Dasher Dancer Prancer Vixen and Comet Cupid Donder Blitzen so I just chose another reindeer name for this hatchling, You Know Dasher, the first lyric of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. She's not even grown yet and her parents' owner named the Spitfire daddy Desert Dune Dasher. Thanks, draketeeth! That's awesome and if you're out there, I hope you know it's appreciated. Posted December 31, 2014 I barely ever do that, but sometimes when I have no ideas of mine I combine the parent's names and get one for my baby. Two examples: http://dragcave.net/lineage/1JJgk - gave him their last name. http://dragcave.net/lineage/KsuGV - name+name But when someone else does these things of course I'm really touched. http://dragcave.net/lineage/4LKCb - this little guy was bred in hope that it will be an alt and later got gifted to a very lovely person on here. I love its name now. Share this post Link to post
Posted December 31, 2014 I actually dropped the Dorkface in a dragon's name in favor of the name in the lineage. Share this post Link to post
Posted December 31, 2014 If the parents have cool names, I love naming the kids after them. Like most of my Autumn dragons, a lot of them are named after their parents. Also: https://dragcave.net/lineage/U0S6m https://dragcave.net/lineage/CBWvp https://dragcave.net/lineage/hEOkI As for the children of dragons I've bred… well, I just count myself lucky if they even get names. Though I have one pair whose kids are both vampires. Go figure. Share this post Link to post

Posted January 1, 2015 I love it when I look through my dragon's offspring and see that those who caught/received them name them after the parents. It gives me a warm feeling and puts me in a good mood. I also love to name dragons after their parents whenever I can think of something clever enough. for example, a while back I caught this and decided to keep it. http://dragcave.net/lineage/GlfkX Also one of my most recent treasures which was kindly gifted to me. http://dragcave.net/lineage/H8nur I tried to incorporate the personalities of both dragons, considering one of them likes to mess with the minds of others. Posted January 1, 2015 (edited) Okay, it's not naming after parents in the traditional sense, but HOLY LOOK AT THIS VAMPIRE I LOVE YOU WHOEVER OWNS MY BABY NOW https://dragcave.net/view/QKoXv Look at his name and then look at the Vamp who bit him. This was a baby I bit (I have both his parents too) but it auto-APed, I'm so happy whoever owns him now was so clever in naming him after his vampire-sire~ Edited January 1, 2015 by Lumikkja Share this post Link to post
