I will try to pick a name stemming from one or both sides of the family.

I don't know if this technically qualifies as I left the "codes" as the "names" of these dragons, but they were not an easy match to make as they were both 4EG with special lineages. The Gold parent of this dragon is my offspring from my offspring of 3CoWZ and F0XeD, this is their codes, however i left it up to them(I own Son Of Golden Cow And Fox and the parents) to name. And they named accordingly!!! LOVE IT! and then bred that dragon to a dragon with a wolf name.

So I decided to call it Flaming Lyric.

I often name after the parents, quite often because I am horrible at coming up with names and it is less work

 

I love it when people name my dragons after their parents, unless they use a name I wanted and I can't figure out why it's not available Even when that happens, I am still happy that they named it that way.

If the breeder of an egg I've caught has taken the time to come up with a lineage I try to go along and use the name, even if I don't plan on breeding my dragons to continue the lineage.

I like playing around with the parent's names, as a sign of gratitude towards the breeder and also to help me remember what lineage they are from, or just because I like the names.

I dropped an egg from a thunderthighs named "Tweasuwe Youw Wuv", and the user who picked it up named the hatchling "Skip to the End". Princess Bride FTW! Whoever you are, user, you're awesome.

I was breeding for a group project with the suffix of "of the Lake", and kept abandoning the eggs that weren't the breed I was aiming for. Someone snagged one of those eggs and named it "The Lake Dried Up". I thought it was amusing, and I think it's cool when people look at a dragon's lineage and base the dragon's name off of its ancestors.

No, to be honest, I do not like it when people do this to offsprings of my dragons (with some exceptions of course): the problem is they often do it the wrong way. What makes me especially annoyed is when someone adds "CB" or "Zz" at the end of the name, assuming that's the lineage "theme" (while it is not, Zz is my personal addition I have on all the named dragons and CB simply marks that the dragon is CB). So a 7th gen Pillow named "___ CB Zz" on someone else's scroll is something I don't like seeing very much

 

But well, in general I usually do not care what people do with babies from my dragons, it's theirs and they have the right to do whatever they want with it (even kill/release/vamp, I don't mind unless they have promised me not to). So it only bugs me, in a way, when I actually start looking through the progenies out of curiosity.

 

I do find 2nd gen Prizes with such names pretty neat, though (I even have one like that, from Dawn's Silver Medal), but that's because the parents of those are "famous".

Aww, yes - often it makes me very happy.

I don't have any pattern which is universal for my scroll the way it is for some people, but sometimes I think of a pattern for a certain breed and it makes me happy when someone continues the pattern. That, or implements the parents' names in some way.
