Posted November 9, 2012 (edited) Going though the Halloween babies I bred and sent off, there was a certain Marrow pair that bred 4 eggs, all the offspring were named after them or with a mod to the lineage! Thank you to the individuals who picked these eggs up! http://dragcave.net/lineage/Nk9WE http://dragcave.net/lineage/0g9Xu http://dragcave.net/lineage/umcHU http://dragcave.net/lineage/AEFhY - I named this one. Other than that, I was lucky that any offspring were named at all(although those that were, THANK YOU to who got them). Other notable Halloweens being named after parents that awesome people picked up: http://dragcave.net/lineage/5hh67 http://dragcave.net/lineage/FKYEC http://dragcave.net/lineage/tDvoE http://dragcave.net/lineage/gdd3E Edited November 9, 2012 by Draco Knight Share this post Link to post

Posted November 15, 2012 I usually take into account the parents' names when I name my dragons. I have a set naming scheme, but I usually use part of the parent names in it, like these. http://dragcave.net/lineage/Z5Wn http://dragcave.net/lineage/UYlh http://dragcave.net/lineage/SiEa http://dragcave.net/lineage/M2Zd http://dragcave.net/lineage/sJipe http://dragcave.net/lineage/0Sq9J http://dragcave.net/lineage/nuNV I have a ton more, lol. I especially make note of the parent names if the person has a naming theme on their scroll. As to having someone name one of their dragons after mine, it's not going to happen. Only one egg has ever left my scroll lol. Share this post Link to post
Posted November 15, 2012 One of my dragons used to be named Serely, and one of the children got adopted and named Serely's Pink Rose, and now Serely has lost her name, but her child still has her name. I thought that was kind of interesting. Serely's Pink Rose Share this post Link to post
Posted November 15, 2012 Some of my abandoned EG 3rd gen offspring get the surname Olodoo. I find that amusing. Under one hand, I'm flattered they did that. On the other hand, they're Olodee dragons, by what the name means. (Olod=Saurian for Even, oo=shorthand for two, ee=shorthand for three). I dub them Faux Olodoos. Oh, I appreciate the keeping of the surname. It's really nice to see people respecting that. It's just kind of funny to see an Olodoo have an Olodoo offspring to me. Share this post Link to post

A lot of the dragons on my scroll have the surname Aglarond, meaning CB. The person who caught this one kept that name. I love that they kept it (not many do), but by my pattern only CBs should be Aglaronds--2nd gens have their own surname, Estanesse, which is Elvish for firstborn. It's one of those things that's funny, but only to people who know the pattern. Share this post Link to post

I know I'm not quite so inquisitive to do that, but if I saw a pattern-following surname not on my own scroll, that would be a real jaw-dropper! And would probably fool me, as I go to my CBs and click down to find their offspring using names to ID ones on my own scroll. That would be both hilarious and embarrassing to click a dragon that isn't mine and try to breed it. And I'd probably proceed to try and find the person on the forums and congratulate them. Posted November 20, 2012 My dragon is named The Chameleon Circuit. I love what they named the child! http://dragcave.net/lineage/5i2S8 That's fantastic! I'm jealous, I love DW. Anyway, I'm one of those people who like naming dragons after their parents. When I pick something up in the AP or receive one as a gift, I try to continue a surname or blend the names. That's why I have MM Red Foo Wissalo, MM Sydkin's Soaring Heart, MM Luanthe's Shadow, and others. The only time I don't do that is when I REALLY want to name a dragon something. And coincidentally, I've always wanted to name a Bluna "Chicken of the Sea", like the tuna brand. And when I got ahold of my first Bluna, I discovered that his dad is "Dark Blue of the Ocean"... so my name still fit! As a side note, all of the dragons on my scroll have MM as a prefix (that's my initials, I like branding my dragons like that), but that's just something I do. I wouldn't want anyone to continue that). Share this post Link to post
Posted November 22, 2012 I never bothered to look when I was simply surfing through my dragons and saw this http://dragcave.net/lineage/cYYb4 Makes my day for me. Share this post Link to post

Posted December 4, 2012 I usually name my dragons after the parents, just because it makes me smile when other people do it with my dragons' offspring. Share this post Link to post
Posted December 4, 2012 This is the progency of one of my "Ice country" CB stripeds. I keept the 1st offsprings and gave away the rest. I didn't pay attention to the names of the offsprings until yesterday and I really like them! Share this post Link to post
Posted December 4, 2012 http://dragcave.net/lineage/UnDma Hehe..I own the CBs and the offspring was AP'ed - the person who grabbed it sure have a sense of humor. Share this post Link to post
Posted December 9, 2012 I was just browsing through my dragons' offspring and found this little lady, named with a fusion of her parents names. So pretty sounding ~ Share this post Link to post
Posted December 15, 2012 Ones I found recently: A Necromorph's Lullaby x got Everybody fooled (which is from Everybody's Fool, which is a song) = Mechanical Lullaby (not linking because still a hatchling... will link once adult) I think I quite like that one. If I ever call Gravemind a female, you can blame this dragon. Well, someone lost an eyebrow today... Seasonal feet are squishy? Hmm... Holidays come and holidays go, but this one would rather the 4th stay forever. This shiny iced-over White shall not make for a good friend. Although the "Betrayal" in the father's name wasn't really meant as an English word... or any word at all for that matter. I'm tired of making jokes about the names, so stay colorful, my human friends. If I find more I may or may not add more to this post. Share this post Link to post
Posted December 15, 2012 Teehee. Hylia is just a prefix I use to avoid already-used names, so it's funny seeing it pop up on something that isn't on my scroll. (Or you could just squish the parent's names together if Hylia is too hard to spell) ...I still can't get over how gorgeous Skeletal Pearl's name is. Breed of the mother, colour of the father and names from both. Share this post Link to post
Posted December 17, 2012 Well, someone named their 2nd Gen Autumn after it's parents, but.... Now I can't use that name. Share this post Link to post
Posted December 17, 2012 I've never done this before but I'm going to start trying to name all my dragons so I will try to name after parents. <3 Share this post Link to post
