Posted April 27, 2010 I've read the rough draft. The movie version is much better. Plus, Jareth isn't a drunken leach either. *raises guilty hand* That was me until I was old enough to think properly. Share this post Link to post
Posted April 27, 2010 (edited) Wow. Sounds like the rough draft really sucked. Though, I can picture him holding a glass of wine during dinner. Being all classy-like. Edited April 27, 2010 by Vic Share this post Link to post
Posted April 28, 2010 RD Jareth more or less invites himself into Sarah's house (pretending to be the guy who wrote her favourite play), starts going through her parent's alcohol and then begins to hit on her. He gets worse at the end, actually taking her to his bedroom Share this post Link to post

He gets worse at the end, actually taking her to his bedroom Ugh. That'd definitely bump up the PG rating. So glad they didn't go that way. I didn't think Henson would even consider such a sick plot. Posted April 29, 2010 I don't know who is responsible for the changes, but I'm sure they would have been done long before Henson looked at it. And thanks to this board I have been watching the Labyrinth songs on Youtube. Totally fatal. I now have 'As the World Falls Down' stuck in my head >_< Share this post Link to post

I love the scene, but I never really liked the song. Share this post Link to post
Posted April 29, 2010 It's one of my favourites, along with 'Magic Dance' and 'Within You'. Maybe it's because I am a big softy at heart (pfft), but it's because those are the songs where Jareth reveals how he feels about sarah. Share this post Link to post

Posted April 29, 2010 (edited) There's such a sad love Deep in your eyes, a kind of pale jewel Open and closed within your eyes I'll place the sky within your eyes There's such a fooled heart Beating so fast in search of new dreams A love that will last within your heart I'll place the moon within your heart *somethingsomethingsomethingelse* But I'll be there for you-oo-oo As the world falls down Edit: Just randomly reading stuff on the internet and came across this interesting passage... One of the screen directions reads: "Didymus whistles and is quickly joined by a tail-wagging sheepdog. Sarah gasps: he is the spitting image of her own Merlin". Sarah has not noticed any other resemblances between the labyrinth's landscape or denizens and her own possessions: just Merlin / Ambrosius. This suggests that, when writing the script, Jones did not have the idea of the labyrinth being drawn from Sarah's mind at all. I believe that he thought of it as a very real place. This tells me that the author of the rough daft intended the Labyrinth to be a real place, and by association Jareth to be a real being Edited April 29, 2010 by Fortune86 Share this post Link to post
Posted April 29, 2010 Heh. Seems how you all are suddenly song crazy, I found this on someones page on DeviantArt. I think it's very well done. Labyrinth Music Vid Share this post Link to post

Maybe it's because I am a big softy at heart (pfft), but it's because those are the songs where Jareth reveals how he feels about sarah. Those two would have to be my favorites. I really love "Within You," because he's so sad at losing her. I love very emotional music. Oh, I really like "Underground," too. "It's only forever, Not long at all." Such a great line! Labyrinth Music Vid I must remember to watch that when I get on my laptop tomorrow. @ Diem: I know, it's so sad. He pretty much knows during 'Within You' that Sarah isn't going to stay with him, but he tries anyway. Share this post Link to post
Posted April 30, 2010 Heh heh. Guy's gotta try right? Is your monitor dark like mine? I can barely see some things on my comp even if the brightness is at max. If I use my mom's laptop everything is way brighter and clearer. Share this post Link to post

Posted May 5, 2010 For a cool pic, look up the sound track. I WANT THAT SOUND TRACK!!! Share this post Link to post
Posted May 5, 2010 Wait...what? I've suddenly lost track of what we were talking about. Remember our previous conversation where we were discussing if Jareth actually loved Sarah was only trying to trick her? There are definite hints in the manga that suggest that he really does love her. Share this post Link to post
Posted May 6, 2010 Really? From what I heard, he wanted revenge on her. Revenge does not equal love. I netioned Conan O'Brien in the last post so I thought you meant Conan loved Sarah! I was like "say wha??" Share this post Link to post
Posted May 6, 2010 There is a passage that hints that Jareth intended to make Sarah his queen and even one of the goblins points out that it seemed as though Jareth loved Sarah (in his own twisted little way). And the biggest hint of all: There is a prophecy made where everything is put right by 'love's true kiss' and Sarah and Jareth are the only ones that really fit that bill. Sorry Toby/Moppet shippers, but I don't see that relationship working, it would be just too weird. Conan might love Sarah. You never know lol. Although I did write that 'Jareth is in love with Sarah'. Share this post Link to post
Posted May 6, 2010 I think he did love her. In the mascerade ball they were the only ones without masks kind of and "were the only two people in the world" or "I only have eyes for you" thing. On a side note the whole "Jareth was a drunk" thing. Pictue Jareth walking into Sarah's room and looking at all her toys of the cast. He walks over to the Hoggel doll picks it up and says "Hoggsnot wazza matter. Whats wrong wit you, why are you so short" (the spelling is his drunk talk) so he drops the Hoggel doll and looks at it being a doll it just sits there "Fine Hoggwart *sniff* I don't need you anaways" walks away sad sees a firey doll smiels and laughes. Picks it up and tries to pull it's head off, eventuly does getting stuffing everywhere. "Ahh tat alwaz cheers me up, a bit tuffer then ussaly though" smiles happaly and stumbels away drunk. And that is why it's a good thing Jareth dosen't drink. Share this post Link to post
Posted May 6, 2010 Except they never kissed. They almost did but Sarah looked away before he could. Flame, Ick. It sounds like a sucky Simpsons parody. Share this post Link to post
