Posted February 20, 2011 D'aww, tiny feesh! -steals- <3 Wow, much better! Looking much more natural now. I struggle with shading myself and the only really advice I've been given is to set up an object with the light source like how you want to shade and study that and see if it helps. Good luck! :3 wonton - D: That doesn't look bad! It's a good start. ^^ It does have major hangbutt, though, which is what sticks out the most. The wings need to connect further down closer to his hindquarters. His flipper also needs smoothed out a bit. The side facing his wing you did an amazing job smoothing, but the other side has a few kinks. The bottom of his tail is also flat and would look a bit better if it was rounded out a bit more. Lastly, the head seems a little too big in comparison to the body. All in all, very kyoot. I love the whiskers; they're an excellent touch. :3 Share this post Link to post
Posted February 20, 2011 Yes, wings and head look much better. Neck doesn't look too long to me. ^^ Share this post Link to post

Its left forepaw (the one facing us) looks a little strange to me. Somethin with the bottom, it feels a little flat. Or bulged? I really don't know... But I'm far from an expert, so take me as you will. As for the concept, I saw it right away nearly squeed out loud. It's 02! 02 has no mouth, so of course your dragon has no mouth! Posted March 6, 2011 I was really bored and wanted to practice with a lineart. I figured I'd drop in here to practice a bit. LOLitotallyfailed. Share this post Link to post
Posted March 9, 2011 im fairly new to spritting but I went from this: to this any better? Share this post Link to post
Posted March 20, 2011 Is this any better? Is the neck too long? o: Wings are basically hands with webbing between the fingers, what's missing in your wing 'hand' is the knuckle joints. I'm not sure if that makes sense, but basically your finger has little finger joints to bend, right? You need those. Just think of your hand with suuupah long fingers. blargh You've got a bit of pillowshading, where there are dark shades near the outline and light shades in the middle. Pick a lightsource, like top left I see for some spots, have everything close to the top left be light and everything to the bottom right be darker. Make sense? Siryuki That image isn't loading for me D: Ivyshadow It looks like the front legs are both attached at the same side because there's no definition of the chest to separate them o: as for the bottom leg, it looks like one big body part rather than jointed, there should be a separation between the actual feet, leg, and thigh region. Google pictures of dogs x3 it's quite helpful! Share this post Link to post
Posted March 22, 2011 Practices a bit with the shading. I've adapted the colors a bit too (for the shading). Share this post Link to post
Posted March 24, 2011 DarkNymfa, I would suggest contrast on the purple areas. Also-- those areas will produce shadows on themselves, so the areas highest up will be a bit brighter than those lower on the dragon. Share this post Link to post
Posted April 1, 2011 Nice topic here but I can't see the picture how to change sketch to sprite? Share this post Link to post
Posted April 1, 2011 It really depends on the person, everyone seems to have their own way to spriteline a sketch. I know most people take the sketch and put it photoshop, transform it with ctrl T and shift. Then use the pencil (NOT BRUSH) tool and outline. What I do, which I would not recommend, is I throw it in paint, resize it by hand, and draw over it. Once it's all done I just manually erase everything that's not red (the color I choose to spriteline with). o: It all just depends on what you prefer, what you have available, and what you're comfortable with. Yeah, that looks a lot better And wow, this place moves slooow. Anyways, I don't suppose anyone has any suggestions for these? Flat color is just there to be clear what's on the body and what isn't. Posted April 7, 2011 Front foot closest to us on the second one is kind of flat. I'd try adding more shape to it. I'd look up some references for you, but my computer is really laggy right now, so I can't. The lower part of that arm is also really straight. I'd try adding some definition and shape to that. x3 Front arm closest to us on the first one has some kinky spot that could use some smoothing (arm sort of dents in then goes back out again, which is a little awkward). The leg closest to us - where did it go? It looks like it's floating there not attached to the body, lol. Definitely a fantastic start for both of them! :3 Share this post Link to post
Posted April 12, 2011 Oh Hello thar once again, could I get some help with various sprites im working on? 1. 2. 3. ^^ thanks? Share this post Link to post

Posted May 24, 2011 In my opinion they are very nice little sprites however there isn't much shading done... I'm not sure if that was on purpose and if it's SUPPOSE to be that way please ignore the rest of my post. I can't sprite things down very well so to me they're great but I'm getting better at shading and such, I'm currently working on shading a design done by Infinis and I would post it but I'm not sure if it's ok with Infinis so I wont put it up... Anywho my point was with a bit of shading I think they will look really nice... I think you're doing a pretty good job at spriting Share this post Link to post
