Posted March 31, 2012 For today’s drawing, we decided to go check out the local aquarium water park! There are all sorts of fun things to do, neat things to see, and great trouble to get into, what’s not to love? First, I’d like to illustrate the dilemma of appointing an eggy to a position of high power and responsibility. This park has a sort of monthly tradition in which they make a young dragon manager for a day, and today the job fell to A SILVER TINSEL EGGY FROM THE CAVES OF KLINNEAH! Its immediate fear was that of failing to do well and getting fired, so it spent all of its time patrolling the park and checking on all the lifeguards. Constantly. The eggy’s paranoia got the best of it, and soon it had ordered the water pressure to be halved so that the rides ran slower and there was even less of a chance of injury. The upset customers teamed up with the lifeguards, who already found the manager’s actions irksome, and together they made a simple plan to get rid of the eggy. Fifteen minutes later, a water dragon ‘accidentally’ swished its tail just hard enough to send the tinsel flying out of the park. The eggy was unharmed, safely landing in a small duck pond on the property of number 44, IZDib! Alright, now we can move on to what some of the guests have been up to. You know how they say that one must face their fears? Well, that’s the idea behind the presence of A RED EGGY FROM THE CAVERNS OF LAGIE! This red is deathly afraid of water, the way the trickling coolness steals heat away, the way it caresses you and then pulls you to the depths, the way it betrays you with promises of calm serenity and then sends fierce beasts to tear you limb from limb. In an attempt to show the poor eggy that there’s nothing to fear, its friends brought it here to the water park and forcibly herded it to the top of one of the slides. That’s when it remembered it was also afraid of heights, so it couldn’t help but stand there looking at the ride in horror. It was given a not-so-gentle shove, but still the eggy refused to budge. The water built up behind it, and eventually the pressure was so great that the red was sent rocketing down the slide at much greater speeds than normal. On one of the sharper curves, the poor eggy went tumbling over the side. Time seemed to slow as it fell, the air disturbed only by the shrill scream that erupted from the red, but it eventually plopped into the deep end of a nearby pool right next to number 39, Teufala! Oh, boy! Over there is a sight I never thought I’d get to see! It’s a PILLOW HATCHIE FROM THE CAVES OF RIKKA_ASHEN6! You all know how nice and fluffy pillow dragons are, with their silken cashmere-esque coats and adorable plump appearance. They even look good in the water, with their fur going all over the place and swishing around as if it was swept by wind. Then they get out of the water, though, and all of that fur it pressed to their sides, and their expression resembles that of a disapproving cat. You’d never believe it, but these dragons are actually incredibly skinny, with a slim bony frame and dainty little feet. It certainly surprised the hatchie’s friends, who immediately threw a towel over it and rubbed vigorously. When the towel was removed, the hatchie appeared to have grown to three times its normal size, all its fur sticking strait out in all directions. The extreme amount of fluff covered the dragon’s eyes, so it stumbled around blindly for the rest of the day, getting separated from its friends and soon running into number 19, Anna Selka! Before we move on to the aquariums, there appears to be a commotion over by one of the pools involving A YELLOW DINO EGGY FROM THE CAVERNS OF CATLOVER3288! It’s a well know fact that dinos do nothing but eat all day long, occasionally napping or walking over to the next patch of green edibles. This dino, having finished off all the plant life it could find along one side of the park, slowly began to trek along a randomly chosen path in the hope of finding more food. Its path happened to go directly through the park, and when said path was crossed by a pool, the dino didn’t posses enough intelligence to circumvent the obstacle. Instead, it just kept moving, walking straight into the water and sinking like a rock. At first, no one noticed it, but eventually the lifeguards, having been alerted of the situation, came to the rescue. Dinos are big and heavy, though, especially yellow ones, and the lifeguards are still milling about trying to figure out how to lift the thing up and out of the water. Once they do, an ambulance will take the eggy to the nearest hospital, run by number 9, Spyder! Beyond the various rides and amusements lies the aquarium, composed of numerous tanks and buildings containing myriad aquatic animals. By one of the outdoors tanks is A RED STRIPE EGGY FROM THE CAVES OF RAINBOWCHRIS! This young dragon is admiring the sharks, which are actually quite different from the animals we Terrans know by that name. These DC sharks are more serpent-like than fish-like, with frilly fins and flippers and a long body. Though highly aggressive and much larger than our fishy sharks, they’re still smaller than most dragons, and are thus not quite at the top of the food chain. The eggy was fascinated by these carnivores, and it soon developed an uncontrollable urge to touch one. After making sure no guards were around, the eggy scaled the ladder used by the marine specialists when weather conditions proved too windy for dragons to fly with reasonable stability. Once at the top, the eggy leaned over the water, watching as one of the sharks got closer and closer until SHINK! The animal exploded from the tank in a glistening display of scales and sharp teeth, and the eggy was saved only by one of the volunteer dragons that had just happened to fly by at the time. Lecturing and scolding the stripe the entire time, the dragon flew it away from the aquarium and deposited it on the porch of a random dragon keeper: number 28, Wave! Last but not least, we’ll venture into one of the buildings in which smaller creatures, or creatures which live in highly specific environments, are kept. Inside the deep-sea building is a sweet young GLORY EGGY FROM THE CAVERNS OF SILVERROSE1290! Just a few minutes ago, this eggy was ambling lazily down the corridor, flanked on either side by strange phosphorescent fish and crustaceans, a bit bored and not particularly interested in the exhibits. It was about to leave when it noticed that one of the corners was roped off, a long black cloth hiding the exhibit that should have been there from view. This area was clearly off limits, but that just made it all the more alluring, so the glory ignored the giant warning signs and slipped behind the cloth. There, behind the thin glass panel, was a small dragonic creature unlike any of the others that the eggy had seen. Most of the animals that inhabited the deep were either grossly deformed, sluggish in their actions, or too large and sentient to be kept in a tank (think Deep Sea dragon). This, however, was about the size of a canary, resembling a dragon in almost every way, though the glory knew this was impossible considering the complexity of a dragon’s metabolism did not allow for any sizes smaller than a housecat. Yet here was a serpentine creature that glided through the water on fins that stretched from a pair of flippers to the end of a frilly tail, was covered in long glowing scales, chirped like a dolphin, and moved with the same playful elegance of some of the more intelligent dragon species. The glory barely had time to register all this before one of the guards found it and ‘politely’ escorted it off the premises. Still in a sort of trance, the eggy wandered aimlessly about the countryside until it ended up on the doorstep of number 18, TVTD! Whoops, it appears to be closing time already! Everyone is calmly packing away their things, except for a little group of rascals that is being chased out by rubber-chicken-bearing lifeguards, and soon they’ll all be on their way home. Hope you enjoyed the story! Sorry about the quality of the writing, I’m a bit out of it today. Look at that! It’s the end of the month! That means that the next giveaway will have to be DONATOR WRITTEN! For those of you that don’t know, this means that donators get to write their own paragraph of story to go with the eggs they donate. There are no rules as to writing style or length or topic, but it must conform in some way to the theme. On that note, your theme for this round is Time Machines! Also, remember that you do not have to write a story to be able to donate. It’s understandable if you cannot find the time to write or don’t feel up to it for whatever reason. However, please don’t be shy! The crowd of people that will come into contact with your writing is nice, fairly easy to impress, and sympathetic, so try not to give in to the “I’m not a good enough writer” mindset. ^^ Oh! One last thing! For the sake of allowing for greater creative liberties, donators may donate up to two eggies for this giveaway! After that, though, we’ll go back to the temporary one-egg-per-donator limit. I await your stories! Share this post Link to post
