Dragon Codes V2.0

Recommended Posts

I just went through all my dragons and picked up a few codes I hadn't noticed!

https://dragcave.net/view/MLPr7 - My Little Pony..the only thing that would make this code better is if the number was 6 for the Mane 6

https://dragcave.net/view/SCERm - SCARE 'em...get it?

https://dragcave.net/view/LlE6m - The dragon is a lie

https://dragcave.net/view/EWVWu - The V in the middle makes it look like the code is ewwww

https://dragcave.net/view/SOBtH - SOB or S.O.B....either works

https://dragcave.net/view/xMMoM - Mom

https://dragcave.net/view/noDRY

https://dragcave.net/view/eismh - I s.m.h.

https://dragcave.net/view/Xmnvm - nvm

https://dragcave.net/view/npCaw- np...Caw (so deadpan)

https://dragcave.net/view/2VExK - Vex

https://dragcave.net/view/1HaAM - HAM

https://dragcave.net/view/SOlSt - This one I had accidentally abandoned instead of another egg I had bred and a kind user happened to catch it for me and send her back. I was so happy, because a Christmas dragon with (Solstice) as a code was one of a kind.

https://dragcave.net/view/TUrNr - Turner

https://dragcave.net/view/mAdb0 - Mad b(r)o?

https://dragcave.net/view/IBLOp - I blop (I just find it humorous the dragon looks like a blop)

https://dragcave.net/view/5BadR - It's a bad dragon

https://dragcave.net/view/ZYRAD - It's a RAD dragon

https://dragcave.net/view/TTTT6 - Nothing funny, just a LOT of Ts

https://dragcave.net/view/ToadO

https://dragcave.net/view/sMg1c - Magic

https://dragcave.net/view/DRLLS - Drills

I grabbed a chrono on the AP with a code that means 'small beer' in Finnish. 😹

My favourite one in my scroll at least still has to be this 2nd gen erador from my own dragons!

I could use some input from my fellow code hunters:

How do you keep track of your code stuff?

I had a spreadsheet which was out of date 98% of the time. With the groups ingame I am doing way better but still... I got the following groups at the moment:

Code offspring - mated    Private    195 dragons
Code offspring - mates in progress    Private    15 dragons
Code offspring - unmated    Private    431 dragons

Codes - foreign lang    Private    137 dragons
Codes - Drakes    Private    74 dragons
Codes - females - unmated    Private    381 dragons
Codes - geo - unmated    Private    55 dragons
Codes - males - mated    Private    704 dragons
Codes - males - unmated    Private    487 dragons
Codes - names - unmated    Private    48 dragons
Codes - Pygmies    Private    79 dragons
Codes - Twoheaded    Private    46 dragons

Am I overthinking it? Which/how many groups do you keep?

I used to keep them in a Word document, but now I mostly keep track of them by groups.  I have six general groups:

Codes: 3-Letter Words

Codes: 4-Letter Words

Codes: 5-Letter Words

Codes: 6-Letter Words

Codes: Foreign Languages

Codes: Phrases

I've linked them so you can see the organization.

* For most of them, the codes are just in alphabetical order by the word they contain, and by breeding group. (Normal dragons A-Z, then Splits A-Z, then Drakes A-Z, then Pygmies A-Z.)

* For 4-letter words there's a bit more segmentation: I've split them up by "number before word," "number after word," "one letter doubled," and "letter before/after word" and each section is alphabetized.  (I like to try to match the general format when breeding!)

* For the Phrases group, they're alphabetically sorted by the phrase as it would appear when normally written (for ease of searching when I need a mate.  If I catch an egg with a code that could pair with "our ___" and want to know how to influence it, I'd hate miss the fact that I have a code like that just because it had "R" for "our" and I'd stuck it down with the Rs.)

* The foreign languages, of course, are grouped by language, then by alphabet.

I have a couple of other more narrowly-defined groups, like NSFW codes, where some might be on the 3-letter list while others are on the 4-letter list, and I want to be able to see all of them together.  Otherwise, though, I try to keep it simple - the fewer groups I have to look through when deciding on influence or seeking a mate, the better, and the less likely I am to miss something.

I keep track of mates by breeding, for the most part.  If I catch a code I want to breed with something specific, I will hit it with Fertility and breed it as soon as it's grown.  That way the designated mate will always be at the top of the partner list when I go to breed again.  (And on the Progeny page, if they breed successfully.)  Doing it *before* I move the dragon out of the top of my scroll (I use Custom Sort) means I'm less likely to forget what my plan was for it.

Likewise, I keep my Groups up to date by immediately adding and sorting any eggs caught!  If I wait till it hatches or grows, I'm more likely to forget about it and lose it in the shuffle when I sort a bunch of newly-grown things into my scroll.

@sorenna

Thank you very much for explaining your system to me. You adress a lot of things that trouble me.

When you get a new code and you know you already have the perfect mate for it... somewhere... but how to find it? I hate that moment. And searching via "add to group" or "fertility" only helps so much... was it soot or s00t or so0t or maybe s0ot?

Custom sorting those groups must be a pain. I usually sort my groups by breed but sometimes change that to "name" while searching.

I could never keep my mated and my unmated codes together in one group. I would totally lose my oversight and never breed anything or worse: mess up pairings (I usually have life mates).

It was really nice to hear from someone else who invests a lot of time and thought in this kind of thing. Apropros... you got me thinking about a few things now. Like merging the males and the females. And/or merging the Drakes/Pygmies/Twoheaded into one group. Because you're right. Too many groups are counterproductive.

Apart from the English meaning, it's also German for "scythe". :)

Oh wow! Thanks for informing me, that makes it even better! (Too bad it's a Valentine's dragon, though, and not Halloween. 😹)

I just bred a bunch of checkers to the AP, and one of them had the code (nINne)!  I thought that was pretty cool.
