DB9cl - "Morning Frost DB9".

Morning Frost was the name of a limited edition colour scheme for the Aston Martin DB9 and I think it fits perfectly on a Royal Blue. biggrin.gif I hope it's a boy. I just can't see a dragon named after a sports car being a girl. *lolsexism*

I love that Zat name sheppardkid!

I've done it for a few of my dragons with interesting codes:

MIeI -> Miei

VNne -> Vinne

E3Fu -> Elfu

Actually did this one mostly b/c I did it with her night glory companion (above) and I couldn't think of a good name for her at the time (she's a day glory).

OBug -> Cicada's Song

This one drove me nuts because all the good things with bug in them were taken, so I tried a bug, Cicada, and that was taken too! And this code was so perfect, with the caps all correct and all. Oh well, it led to a naming scheme for my seasonals.

oPSC -> Oopsies

I just think this code is too cute! This was my first direct code->name.

Dragon Code - Dragon Name

OO3f - Detective OO Shadow

Originally the parents were named Detective 'something'. Shadow was added because that is what is at the end of all my Dorsals.

host - The Host

FLWR - Forest FLWR

SepO5 - SepO5

BrIM - Dorkface BrIM

----

I also have this one. But the name I gave the dragon has nothing to do with the code.

sHiN - Flight of Fancy

I name a lot of my dragons based on their codes. Actually, unless I have a planned name for them I usually go off the code and change numbers to letters or sounds. Especially Cbs. Here's Midjo http://dragcave.net/lineage/miDjO and Nate Hea http://dragcave.net/lineage/N8Hea just to name a couple. I'm really happy about them.

I really wish I could get http://dragcave.net/lineage/HAGER named HAGER but it's taken. tongue.gif

This poll needs tickyboxes. biggrin.gif

I voted "Yes, often" but "I have my own naming system" also applies. I fit the code to the naming system if I use it.

"Piau" and "Diev" are the only two dragons I have whose codes were such perfect names that I didn't add to or alter them at all. biggrin.gif The rest are more...

code 'rrvh' became F'Erriveh

code 'cdur' became Rhocadur

code 'AP4IX' became W'Apaixan

That type of thing.

I only do it if I can't think of another name for the Dragon and/or if the code is something that I can pronounce:

kWnn - Kai Wynn

rXWEr - Rex Weir

5iD8g - Sidate (sedate)

2BRAG - 2BRAG or not 2BRAG (Shakespeare took over on that one)

cluE - Have No cluE

WHOv - Who Vee

fEXK - Fecks

Although I've also come up with a name once or twice by shuffling the letters around:

2TTf - made me think 'TF2' - Team Fortress 2...

Since my cheese Dragon has that code - his name because Cheese Fortress 2

BBW: DiaLO = 'DiaLo'

Whiptail: krgLr = 'Kruglor' (which is a reference to VGCats)

G Stripe: NqgNp = 'NuqNip'

Ochre: aQuch = 'Qushin'

Nocturne: honou = 'Honourel'

I was tempted by the code 'gepat' on an ember but I did my more traditonal naming based roughly on breed.

Ps. Here are more:

G Stripe: fRton = 'Fruiton' (hey, he's a fruity futon!)

B Stripe: h33RI = 'Heeri'

Snow Angel: Rcha9 = 'Rachangel'

Swallowtail: DEpsq = 'Deepsquire'

Hmm, I had to vote "A couple of times" because when I find an interesting sounding code when it is said AND it contains a 7 in it, I use the phonemes for naming my Legendary Thunders - as in Beekayo Sev'm, Elle Sev'm Kayveezix, Wye Sev'm Kewsby, Jeepeezdee Sev'm, I HAD to name one Dubblo Sev'm and Sev'm Wyteefor. But those codes are NOT the codes to those dragons.

I loosely base most of my dragons' names on their codes. I'm not creative enough to come up with something interesting to name them so I look at the code for inspiration. Though I only use the entire code in the name if it's something interesting. smile.gif

Lessee... More than I expected really, since I do this only when uninspired o.0 There was once a few more but I changed their names permanently once I got into collecting English words. So it is no surprise what's listed below are mostly lineage project dragons that cannot be dictionary word fodder xd.png

7VQb6 - Vanqubir Desert Wind

SsAYU - Shattered Sayura

cnma - Cinema Thuwed

Xv05 - Tessitura Xervius

F0oL - Coloratura Fool's Revue

cWg0 - Clockwise Gravity Zero Dorkface

Pi03 - Piedra Prismatic Thuwed

Ahi7 - Ahina Thuwed

PYEI - Pyrimidine

EhFO - Tessitura Echelion (I kept associating the code with 'echo' and that morphed to 'Echelion' :3)

ZeRd - Element of the Thuwed Zerd

KadMO - Modus Operandi

Trp5 - Trp Operon (biology anyone? xd.png)

HTHT - Tessitura Dante (HTHT--> HOT! 8D --> Dante's Inferno, hence the name. The brilliant thing is that it's a hellfire =D)

YKKE - SM Leonykke Chandler

XYai - Leonai Starsong (Part of my prefix 'Leon-' for EPIC-project dragons, like Leonykke previously. The code settled the ending of '-ai' :3)

I have quite a number that are named after their codes- sometimes if there's a chemical symbol, sometimes if the letters remind me of a word, sometimes the type of dragon mixed with the code

Azxz - Azarath's Seal

RChY - Teuer (German for expensive- this is a CB Gold's code, too, so double yay)

ps2o- Sony Quinn

jjHA - Jaje

rZda - Zelda von Herbst (fall dragon, Herbst is German for Fall)

ZVpi - Lover of Pi (cheese)

embN - Streeler (vine- named for a mythical snail that burns plant life)

NOUN - pronoun

rFir - Fir Tree (vine)

UsJ1 - Dorkface the Just

yuqy - Yami and Yugi (male split)

XbmQ - Xavier Bach

NpAI - Artificial H20 (water)

TjRE - TJ's Shocking Announcement (electric)

Oopn - Open-Hearted Flight (pink)

Zbst - Zabin

DNkN - Dunkin Doughnuts

cEdL - Dragon of the Citadel

GAmF - Gamiva

wIkI - Wiki Pedia

bi1t - Byte of Bliss (white)

qANI - Quantano

The1 - One Asterism to Rule Them All (silver- as many of my silvers as possible have gemstone related names. This is actually the child of Pronoun farther up)

BX1X - X-treme Rocky (stone)

UsPo - Po - Polonium

6PNT - Sharp and Pointy

sQnu - Squenoh

MAeW - Matthew of the Dark North (Black- plus Hetalia)

boxx - Box Dragon

and that's it so far... I'll probably add more as I have not been good about naming dragons for codes since the 5-character-code was put in place.
