Welcome to the Photography Contest!

 

Welcome back for another round of the DC Photography contest, come and show us what you've got! 

 

This time, the theme is: Construction

Since I'm suffering through roadworks at my house now, how about a construction theme? Roadworks, buildings, popsicle sticks, LEGO, bird's nests... anything that is constructed!

 

Submission deadline: September 18th

 

Voting deadline: October 16

 

Submissions:

 

Rules:

- One entry per person.

- A photograph is defined as an image made using a camera or phone camera.

- Screenshots are not allowed.

- Picture has to be made by yourself and can't be just a reproduction of someone's work. If someone else's work is in the picture, there needs to be something extra.

- No manipulation besides basic photo adjustments (contrast, exposure, cropping, color balance, lighting, etc.).

- No text or framing in the photo. A signature/watermark is just fine, but it's preferable if you don't have "O Hai Eye Hav3 T3XT" (or something similar) present in the photo.

- When voting, please don't select your own image. This will ensure fairness.

- You are free to submit an old photo; you don't need to take a new one just for this competition.

- Winner hosts the next contest.

- Hosts may re-use previous themes that have not been used in the last 10 contests.

Las Vegas is always under construction, the locals even joke that these giant orange traffic cones are the “Nevada State Flower”

Would bluring out people's faces be against the rule ? I have a few with the acropolis under renovation but there are people (strangers) in them 😬

Hmm. Good question. It probably would be. Could you leave the strangers in?

I've always taken that rule to mean keep it about photography, don't let it become digital art. I would feel okay with an obvious edit for privacy, since it's not an artistic manipulation. But I wonder if this could be solved with creative cropping?

There is litteraly people everywhere on the picture (some closer than other that their face is really obvious) so not really an option. 

 

I guess I will have to go somewhere with construction, shouldn't be to hard seeing where I live and there is always construction somewhere 😂

Two weeks ago my in-laws and I constructed this observatory in my yard (for my husband). It's still a bit under construction because the company forgot to send a piece for the back, but it looks good from the front!

 

Edit to add: my husband would have been more involved but he had to work most of the time his parents were in town, so we got it done for him!
