Genetics?

Super simple question, but are there any form of genetics at all in this game? Or is it more of a 'baby-looks-exactly-like-one-parent' sorta deal? Just curious! No hate  Just noticing that my babies don't seem to look any different from their parents.

Specific 'genetics' aren't really a thing here, most breeding pairs will give an egg of either the mother or father's type. However, there are some hybrids that can only be made by breeding specific types of dragons together. See this wiki page for a list of hybrids.

In addition to hybrid breeds, some breeds have "alts" or alternate coloring. These sprites look different than the normal ones. Some alts are only available through breeding, like alt Black dragons. Others, like alt Dorsal dragons may show up in bred dragons or in the biomes. Other alts are dependent on things like when the egg was laid or what BSAs were used. Sometimes you can control what color you get, like with Cantormaris dragons, and other times it's random chance, like Nebula dragons.

 

 

There are also a couple breeds that have a chance of producing related but different breeds. Xenowyrms can produce different breeds of Xenowyrm, not necessarily the same breed as the parent. And Aria dragons have a chance of producing Pink dragons.

 

For example, this Mageia Xenowyrm of mine once produced a Chrono Xenowyrm, and this Aria has produced a couple pinks.
