I wonder what flame color the pyro babies will have and whether the flame color of the parent's flame is permanent or changes again with the next breeding resp. EVERY time with changing partners.

 

Other than that staring at my 4 Shumoga eggs which I hid over night to prevent them from early hatching. They are now at 3 d 13 h and have cracks but no hole yet. I will use kill to keep the one Pharos save I caught inbetween lol. I do it when a small hole shows I think, its hard to be patient 😛

I think it would be nice to increase the drop for Shumoga eggs for a while, so after all the killing we can at least get new ones fast to try again^^

Speaking from experience go for stage 4 crack as soon as it appears - I tried to wait til s5 with one of my eggs and the bugger went and hatched normally  Thankfully these seem to still be pretty common in biomes so I suspect they'll be much easier than green Cantors

I got a nice Pyropellis from Infinis' Kohraki in a trade yesterday (thanks so much, I was lucky to have had something to  offer on the trade) and the flames stayed orange

I've just had really good success with Earthquake.  First attempt at the six eggs had four hatch and stay, and two unaffected.  I did it a second time and both hatched and stayed. Eggs were at 4 days and 3 hours, stage 5.  I'll put screenshots on the Earthquake Science thread.  Thank goodness for that.

Well, that did not work out well: 1 out of 4 kills survived -.-

1. Egg killed at stage 4 (small hole) / 677 views - dead

2. Egg killed at stage 3 (cracks) / 697 - alive

3. Egg killed at stage 3 (cracks) / 652 - dead

4. Egg killed at stage 5 (big hole) / 689 - dead - waited till views were higher cus I thought it mattered but seems it didn't

 

Would be nice killed eggs would not occupy slots in cases where we are forced to use this action. Was able to snatch another 4 eggs before though, so I will try again in a few^^

Hey, I tried a few more combos. This time, with Dorsals. No change, as expected.

 

 

I also updated the sheet for Starsingers. They were tested yesterday and came back with no change, as well.

I've had some good luck lately. Two generous people have traded me "skittish" hatchies and I got another one on my own earlier. I wanted to give it to someone else to EQ, but I accidentally Incubated it when I was trying to hatch some other eggs. Because I'd put it in a couple hatcheries earlier than I normally would so it could start getting cracks, it likely would have hatched while I was away and before I could transfer it, so I took a big risk and attempted "Kill" once it had the large last stage hole in it. I have never attempted to Kill an egg to Force a hatchling out before, so I braced myself for it to die, but it actually hatched and I caught it, so I was very relieved! That said, I don't think I'll ever try it again.

 

I'm starting to feel like one needs a degree in chemistry to figure out these Pyropellis dragons. I think this is one of the most complicated breeding setups I've ever seen.

Shumoga eggs:

 

1. First two eggs: one stage 5, other stage 2 - both killed.

2. Second two eggs: one stage 3 hatched and caught, other stage 5. dead (had to EQ this one about five times).

 

I am starting to lean towards it's totally random really, and all the magics of what stage and how many days or clicks is just superstition...

 

And I'm still curious to whether the alt breeds alt or default (or just alt) like previous alts - or if one always will have to resort to EQ.

Another day, another attempt, nothing much to report. I also double checked that spitfire still doesn't change anything since there were apparently some bugs in the beginning and we might have missed something. Spreadsheet has been updated.
