How to obtain the pink sapphire?

Am I only able to obtain a pink sapphire by abandoning a sapphire to the AP and risk someone else picking it up? Especially if it is a lineage I want.

The only way (at least for now) to make a Sapphire egg turn pink is to abandon it. Makes it very hard to build lineages with them. Sadly you can't even pick up your own egg from the AP unless someone else has picked it up and abandoned it again after it left your scroll. Which makes it even harder. Some people are trying the very old AP trading trick of abandoning and having someone waiting to pick it up for them. TJ disabled code catching, though, when teleport came in, so it is even riskier now than it was back then as the egg must be visible on the AP to be caught and is very likely to go to someone else who is faster or luckier.

It makes it harder to get a cb as well…Since it can’t be directly obtained from the cave..

Harder, yes, but don't lose hope! People are dropping CBs in the AP specifically because of this mechanic (and they are being offered in the hub, though for outrageous prices right now...).

Is there a thread for meeting people who have sapphire eggs and want to trade/abandon so we each end up with the other's pink egg?  Assuming we can catch them... ?

Not yet - you could start one... But the hub works quite well. Filter for sapphires and...
